As someone who saw Episode 1 first, I can confirm the mystery behind Palpatine and Darth Sidious was of interest to me. The thing about the sequels is that theres not much meat to chew on, mind you the prequels obviously got flaws and have a different tone but atleast theres world building,new ships,different style of fighting...George really tried something new here. On the Sequels its all just the OT again but with prettier graphics, all the planets are the same as the OT (Jakku is Tatooine, Crait is Hoth,Starkiller Base), the ships are all the same, theres no progression. Thats whats so dissapointing to me, after getting spoiled on world building in the prequels i wished we got new stuff on the sequels. That said loving these video discussions!

Super bummed Kevin still liked Nu-Wars more than Episode 1. TLJ alone has so much more to nitpick if you guys start going over how tragic untimely gags and awkward force moves are. But it was great to hear your original take on George Lucas's intent with the creature characters and technology showcasing. Might have been from watching it at an impressionable age, but Episode 1 is actually my most rewatched star wars movie. I skip around and can watch favorite scenes over and over again, like the Maul fight, meme lines like "I will make it legal" and even the podrace.
@Badalight5 жыл бұрын
TLJ has a lot of problems but at least it takes some risk even if they ultimately fall flat. TFA plays it so safe that it barely even has its own identity as a film.
@inuyashaspet5 жыл бұрын
@@Badalight That's a good way to compare the two. Though I personally think the risks in TLJ weren't taken with any great payoffs in mind (mostly for the sake of subverting audience expectations), in that regard it did have more "soul" than formulaic TFA.
@Badalight5 жыл бұрын
@@inuyashaspet Well, perhaps. We don't and won't know what Ryan Johnson had in mind for the 9th film. Maybe he did have a plan. TLJ clearly needed a bit more time in the oven though. I enjoyed TLJ much more than TFA on my first viewing. I'm also not super attached to the franchise so I wasn't one of those people speculating for a long time about who Rey's parents were and etc, so I didn't wind up disappointed by any of that. The most disappointing thing for me was Snoke not literally being 30 feet tall or whatever like some people thought he'd be, lol. I think the movie is much better in a vacuum.
