Kevin is a tenor for sure, not a baritone. His timbre and facility in the upper register makes that a given. He does bring his chest voice quite a ways up, into F/G4, but it's also quite apparent he's using a mix of both chest and head, which is the right way to do it without damaging the vocal apparatus. He does tend to force though, which is not healthy. His "Chandelier" performance showed great technique, great passagio work, great use of pure head voice, etc. So much more pleasant than the forced sound.

Adam Efimoff He's forcing, and that's the problem. As my favourite opera singer Sondra Radvanovsky often says, "never louder than lovely". Just use what God gave you, and sing within the abilities of the instrument He gave you, and don't force, or sing higher/lower than is comfortable.

I don't know, AC/DC is a fine example of belting out a tune loud, as is Jimmy Barnes/ Cold Chisel. Both have sold millions and millions of albums and singles. I think this guy has a huge carer ahead of him

Once again the "first on first out" rule is broken. This performance ensured Kevin's place in the final and probably makes him the favourite. I enjoyed this, but compared to the original Kevin's delivery seemed somewhat rushed and breathless, perhaps a wee bit anxious - but we cannot hold that against anyone at this stage. The peak at 2:07 was great, but was followed by a spectacular (at least to my ear) bomb at 2:15 ish. I think Kevin just overreached there, and once again I think that can be forgiven. So, a great start to the show, and Kevin perhaps in pole position? we will see!

As for the original, I fail to see the appeal of Adele's voice that is very clearly damaged and strained even after surgery, so no one taking on one of her songs starts with a very high threshold to beat where I'm concerned. However, I don't think Kevin is the front runner though. I think he'll come in third. I think either of the other two could win though.

+periurban I don't think that part was a fail. It sounded like a stevie wonder impression and i thought he pulled it off. He's failed on a couple of notes in other performances but for the remaining 99% of the time he has been extremely good. A very talented singer imo.

+periurban I think this was pretty much a flawless presentation, and none should be arguing about whether or not Kevin is a great singer. I disagree with the song choice, probably because we have heard all of "21" so many times...why did he not chose a less popular track from "25" and make it his own ? Cody was great as well, but didn't really change the song much. Jolan, in my opinion, was the best this night. He looked effortless - throw anything at him and he'll deliver... After the end of a sad Paloma team we will see Lydia get out as first in the final as well, too much screaming, the voice itself does not stand out if you would hear it on th eradio...

I hear you but in part I disagree. I took classical piano for 10 years (some with a Julliard master), singing, have been to numerous shows and know some great jazz singers. You can really learn a lot through piano and jazz- phrasing, storytelling and tempo are queen. Kevin has a timing issue period. he usually rushes a bit. I do not know him, but from what I have seen it seems to be a confidence/nerve issue. It could be from the knocks in his relatively young career (after all Sinatra sang into his 70's) or he is just a shy guy. Either way he is blossoming and this song is a beat/ breath control beast. He handled it very capably, a few hiccups from nerves but he is getting back into the groove and he will only improve if he gives himself a break. The thing that I found most impressive from my thatwas my ability to not think of Adele while Kevin sang. I totally believed that the whole song came from a male pov. I wish he would sing Counting Stars this weekend, it might deliver him to the win.

Tout est super, quelle voix, quelle intention, c'est le meilleur. En plus, il a l'air d'être un super mec sympa.
