It shows that kev wasn't at the top of his game yet, but his point was correct, since that line was said by the "moron" on the film...

Really? I thought he's right on top of this. This is like the best part of this show. It shows he's more than just dick and fart jokes.

Ofc, one could say that that's just lampshading the argument, and I think that's her concern. Yes, Kev drew attention to it, but that's not really enough if the plot proceeds as if that doesn't matter. others point out, "bi people exist", which is a great point. Ofc, at this time, turn of the millennia, "bi", Times magazine had just put "bisexuality" on their 1995 cover like it was a completely novel thing, and it looks kinda menacing lol (Chasing Amy is from 1997 for context). So, it doesn't really help the situation cuz, were the writers accounting for bisexuality or fluidity of sexuality? No.

Chasing Amy isn't really about a dude turning a lesbian straight. It's about Insecurity. The insecurity of being with someone who is far more liberal in their sex life. Her argument is null and void

I think when a line or phrase in the movie catches on like the deep d**king in chasing Amy it becomes popular for people to say it because they think they’re being funny saying it. By Kevin Smith saying the person in the film who is always wrong says it that the statement is in of itself incorrect.

I thought Kevin actually did a pretty good job here. He openly admitted that while he has his own perspective of there's nothing wrong with being gay, he panders a little bit to the other side at times as well.

This is a weird one, because he seems to almost be suggesting that the line wasn't ironic because he is arguing 'well I have done a lot of none gay-bashing stuff too', suggesting that it IS gay-bashing O_o What the subject I think he was trying to put over is that sometimes the audience doesn't pick up on the irony and makes their own conclusions, which I think as a film maker you CAN distance yourself from what they believe. It is a weird thing that happens a lot in Comedy in the UK, with character comedians who play a 'dumb racist' character start getting a following of legit racists in their audience. Would have been nice for them to discuss that more. p.s - I am drunk.

Since this was three years ago, I hope you ain't hung over. Back in the day of Myspace, one of my best friends there was a lesbian(still is). We were typing about Kevin Smith because I just heard the commentary on Jay&Silent Bob Strike Back. In the commentary I got pissed that he had to pay GLAAD money for the part BooBooKittyFuck said "You are so gay".I asked her if she was offended. She replied no. Then I told her about what this weird gay fine. She was surprised and didn't understand why he had to pay this stupid thing. She thought it was funny. Personally I thought so too. I'm not gay but from watching it the girls seemed to be lesbians. Personally I think GLAAD should give him his money back.

I love how Kevin Smith deflated a SJW just by being brutally honest and down to earth Kevin Smith. While other people have to debate rationally with logic about what's wrong with the PC culture and SJWs, he just goes "my own brother is gay" (with that I just heard her go pffffft like a deflated baloon) and "I'm not even sure I'm straight myself". And then he proceeded to explain what every fucking movie director working for Disney nowadays don't get. You cannot try to drive the point in by hammering it into people because movies have to be entertaining, not preachy.
I can see in the lesbian the future grievance culture that’s overtaken universities. Plus, what emotional child needs public recognition and applause for being Gay?
