As time has gone on Tusk has grown on me as a brilliantly acted film with an incredibly original story! Some of the dialogue is iffy especially with Johnny Depp’s character but I still can’t deny how unique this movie is!

It was a fantastic film because of that. Very few films can elicit more than 2 emotions. Tusk tugged at every single emotion in the human heart. It didn't do most of them fantastically, mind you, but it did manage to pull at them all. I loved it.

I just watched Tusk on Netflix two days ago. Never heard of it. It was recommended by my stepdaugher who found out about it from a friend. She said "you have to watch this," because she knows I like weird shit. After seeing it, told her it is much better than the IMDB rating of 5.3, a 7 in my book. Great black comedy. Recommended it to my trekkie friend (told him to see this horror movie directed by Silent Bob). He just finished watching it and said it was the horror movie of the year (don't think he realized it was 6 years old). Just found out Johnny Depp played Guy Lapointe. I was really wondering who that was because of the heavy makeup (nose especially). Can't wait to tell my stepdaughter and trekkie friend.

Tusk and Red State are instant classic! Why? Because of the Sir Michael Parks! That guy was a diamond in the rough and just a incredible actor
@AgentQQ8
@AgentQQ8 4 жыл бұрын
Huh. This reminds me of that time I threw everything I had into what for me was a life affirming, game changing indie movie production (I'm sure everyone involved felt the same). And my lead actor asked me in genuine bewilderment, "why are you doing this?" At the time, I didn't have an answer, because even I didn't really know (certainly nothing I could fully articulate at the time). Seeing all this enthusiasm today, now I know. Because fuck it, that's why. Life is too short for reasons, reasonability, and half measures. Life is too short, period. Go broke or go home. And the house is on fire, so ... yeah. Granted, nowadays, I'd rather focus on an architectural mindset, building and fortifying sweet ass houses, but to each their own.

Fuck me, that's a cool clip. There are not nearly enough anecdotes out there of this kind of thing, and while the pessimist in me says that's because these long-shot "for the fuck of it" deals don't happen hardly ever, Kevin's comment at 3:48 gives me hope to the contrary.

I don't usually watch movies for entertainment, except when absolutely necessary like with friends and family where you clearly don't have a choice but to watch it with them. This hand picked one came out of pure curiosity. The script was engaging until homeboy became his worse nightmare....I felt bad for homeboy on and off scene...I don't know how an actor can come back from all of that, but kudos, he was casted and played the part as best he could. The rest of the supporting cast other than Howe, really had no place in the movie other than supporting the eventual scene at the end...Howe was brilliant, looked every bit the part. I really liked the script mixing classical Hemingway and humanity killer instinct. It takes a certain actor to achieve that level of conviction and raw dark humor.

+elmSTREETnasty MotoVlogs & Gaming To truly enjoy the movie, you have to be a fan of the SModcast Network. There are countless references and hidden jokes that he added just for the fans. I'll be honest, it wasn't the greatest story ever told, but considering that the source material was whipped up in about an hours worth of two friends shooting the shit, it wasn't terrible. But if you went into the movie with no prior knowledge of its origin, it's understandable if you didn't like it. Tusk wasn't made to please the common movie goer, it was made by a guy that wanted to make a movie that nobody else would make, solely for the hell of it. The SModcast jokes were a bonus for fans.

I've nothing against Kevin Smith personally and I'm sure he'd be a nice guy to have a drink with and his anecdotes are amusing but his choice in films and his continuation of churning crap after crap out has to be questioned. If he actually thinks his career post Clerks (where he hit a zeitgeist and got lucky) can anyone seriously say this fella has had a film career to speak of and why do people keep giving him money... Kevin's career can be summed up by the maxim of....the definition of insanity, repeating the same mistake and expecting a diferent result...
