Yep that’s how you do it. I love how we got to hear Kevin’s beautiful voice as well. He also plays cello. They are all amazing!!

I think when this first came out it was the first time many of us heard Kevin sing. The man has range, talent and perfect pitch. Great song, NOT a Grammy winner.

They didn’t win a Grammy for this one, but it was their biggest single, charting at #13 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It was this song, combined with the huge viral success of the videos for The Evolution of Music and Daft Punk, that finally got them attention from record labels. Their manager said that after the holidays in early 2014, he was finally getting phone calls returned after calling everyone multiple times for months. They ended up signing what Entertainment Weekly called “a lucrative deal” a few months later.

They had originally won a contract with Sony when they won the TV a capella competition show Sing-Off and with the $200,000 moved to LA to begin their music career...and then Sony dumped them, saying they didn't think they could successfully launch an a capella group. The group persevered, recording songs in their apartments and posting the videos on KZbin. They gained notice within a few months and some patrons, so were able to hire a recording crew. Their fame grew from there as you said. They dumped RCA just a few months ago and just signed up with Republic Records.

Yep, they did win a Grammy for another Christmas song though: Dance of the Sugar Plum Faries.

It is a great song and it is great to hear an earlier version of their voices because if you listen to their new releases like O Holy Niggt, you can see how strong their voices have matured and strengthened.

I first heard/learned the Little Drummer Boy as performed by the Harry Simeon Choral. That was the version always played on the radio as I grew up and the one I compare all other versions against. This passes the test.

This wasn’t a Christmas song that I loved all that much, but PTX turned it into one! That’s probably the highest praise I could give a cover. Homefree covered “Do You Hear What I Hear” and they also had that same effect on that song for me, letting me hear it in a different way and coming out enjoying it more than the original! If you haven’t reacted to it, I think a post-Christmas Christmas song reaction would still be okay 😁

Sorry, no. #Pentatonix didn't win a Grammy for this one. Pentatonix currently has three Grammys. They won their first Grammy in 2015 for "Daft Punk" (AKA "Daft Punk Mix" or "Daft Punk Medley"): kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX7Xloaipd12ptEsi=byEskKGQLaWNccns It had been released on their second album, "PTX Volume II" in late 2013. The category was "Best Arrangement Instrumental Or A Cappella," a category which did not previously exist; it was changed from "Best Instrumental Arrangement" specifically because the Academy wanted to nominate Pentatonix for this arrangement and they didn't have an appropriate category. They won their second Grammy in 2016 in the same category, for "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy": kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKWWoHSvgMR8fZosi=HScVZ5M8HxHSFdrQ They had released it on their third album, "That's Christmas To Me," in late 2014. Ben Bram, who is listed as an arranger on virtually all Pentatonix songs, was a co-winner for both of these Grammys. Their third Grammy came in 2017 for their collaboration with Dolly Parton (co-winner) on Dolly's song "Jolene": kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYqmoKyLrb5lfrssi=7iUtcxouUN4YbeLU "Jolene" was released in 2016 on their album "PTX Volume IV: Classics." The nomination category was "Best Country Duo/Group Performance." Astonishingly, this was the first time Dolly Parton won a Grammy for "Jolene."

I love Seger, but I found his version of this song a little boring. Calling this "silly" says something about you, not them.
