Munchie probably likes being higher up that is why he is sleeping like that. Sometimes budgies like to sleep higher up to avoid any danger. That way they feel safe. You could provide a perch to him to sit up there. 🙂

May be munchie might like a flat wooden perch to sit on high in cage as they like to be high up . That might help him sleep better . I have corner perches in my cockateils Charlie's cage he has 2 and flat perches and wide wooden perches that's like the tree branch style. That may help. From uk x

Your flock is So cute! Our Budgie slept the same way, to get high up, I think. We gave her a swing and now she sleeps on that every night and sometimes just likes to swing slowly when she naps! :-)

My one budgie sleeps EXACTLY like Munchie. One foot wrapped around her toy, the other on the cage. From what I hear some will go to the highest part of the cage to sleep. It makes them feel safe. Totally normal. Odd, but normal 😀

In my flock (Currently only three birds, I lost two to old age recently) I have a big strong male tiel and he won't come out until the others have been out a while. I think it's nerves, some birds need to see the others out and safe for a while before they come out. I love your bond with the flock. One of my birds was adopted from a home where children were frightening her, and it took two years for her to learn to trust me.

Munchie needs a perch at the top of the cage to sleep on. In the wild, birds like to sleep on a higher perch as they feel safer there. We really like your channel!

my budgie Violetta used to love going to the highest perch i had to sleep on. sometimes he would hang on one side of the cage as well as on the perch. Only when he went to sleep!. I guess he felt safe this way.

Smaller birds and most other birds like to sleep as high as possible. They also will sleep on a swing. I had budgies and canaries and they always stayed up high.. They were kept in separate cages so they each had their own space and own food and water. They liked to bathe in their water cups. I would add a swing and more kinds of perches including a flat perch for foot comfort. I would e cageget Pearl thanother tiel to play with.' Keep a white cuttlebone or mineral block in

Hi! One of my budgies sleeps upside down at the very top of his cage and his cage mate budgie holds on to the side and very top of cage. So yes, not unusual to see them sleeping in all kinds of positions..silly birdies.

My budgies prefer sleeping as far to the top of their cage as possible. i think they feel safer. When I added two perches at the very top where they used to cling to a toy or the side of the cage they now sleep on the perches. They seem to sleep better now too. Just my two cents.😊

Munchie probably still thinks he's back in his nesting box - or wishing he was; that's why he sleeps the way he does. I've had similar experiences with very young budgies.

Hi, my name is Taylor. Your 3 birdies are absolutely adorable. Pearl is most definitely a male Cockatiel, I love his pattern. As for caging the 2 budgies together ... I wouldn't do that, because Pillow is older, and if you want to keep them tame, I'd put them in cages next to each other. I have 4 birdies. Barbie, GoldCap Conure, Tutsie, Lineolated Parakeet, Gabbie, White-Faced Cockatiel, Libbie, Turquoise-Pineapple GreenCheek Conure. Last 2 are babies, born September 11, 2020. First 2 are 3 years old, Barbie was born March 11, 2017, Tutsie was born April 19, 2017. They are all friendly, in separate cages, and have out of cage time throughout the day. If you want your 2 budgies to be fully tame, like I said, I would not recommend caging them together. Also, Budgies do not like large spaces, so smaller cages, like the one Munchie is in, is perfect. Especially, to keep a Budgie tame. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as insulting, or belittling, but I've had different birds, including a Macaw, and a Cockatoo, ever since I was 4 years old, and I'm 26 years old, now. So, just keep in mind if you want tame budgies, do not cage them together. They will no longer like humans, and will bite, hard, if they're put into the same cage. I wouldn't do that, with a child around. I hope that you reconsider caging them together, and I hope that you put Pillow in a smaller cage. Other than that, your 3 birdies are absolutely adorable.

Happy Holidays! Have you tried putting a perch up where Munchies sleeps? Since he's downstairs where everyone is, there's more noise. I know my birds will go to sleep when covered, but sometimes something on the TV will get Gilbee chirping. XD Also Munchie's now hearing 2 other birds settling in for the night, so he's probably heading for the highest point in his cage, where he feels safe. In general, both my birds prefer to sleep at the highest places in their cages, which is what wild birds do. Now to go watch the Toby videos I missed. XD

Hey, about munchies sleeping habit. From what I understand, that's pretty common in young budgies. I've read about baby budgies (not the bald kind, more like the 21 week old kind with feathers) that they will sometimes try sleeping while hanging from the side of their cage. He or she should grow out of it.

I recommend opening the cage make sure three are in a bird safe room or were you can sit across the room and do something quiet. Don’t look at your birds in the eyes. Once my budgies came out the offered millet and they took it. Put seeds as a treat in your hand and offer it to your birds. And just let them eat. If they bite don’t freak out. It takes a lot of work to tame budgies (I had to tame my 2 budgies and it took me months) just don’t give up!

The reason munchie is sleeping above his cage is because he’s scared of being covered by the blanket. I got a ring neck and he did the same thing but now that I don’t cover him he doesn’t do it some birds don’t like being covered like so she can see!

Hes trying to make a smaller space he is really young. I know he’s grown now but he was super young to not have a little hide hole nest. Nests aren’t good for females but boys can definitely use them as all babies can.
