The Spyderco Tenacious is one of the greatest edc knives of all-time. I love the ergos on the Tenacious, and when they came out with a Tenacious in S35vn steel, I picked up both the straight edge and a combo edge version.
@leotam33722 жыл бұрын
One of the benefits of the Tenacious design is the edge goes right up to the handle - great option for those who simply don't like finger choils

Making it in America with S35vn would for me. I really like the profile, more than any other spyderco

Seems like alot of people hating on the tenacious on here, not trying to change anyone's mind just talking from my experience I work on heavy equipment and in the West Texas oil field on pipeline, I own multiple American made Spydercos , Benchmades, and for someone actually using there knife daily I would definitely recommend the tenacious, easy one hand use, it cuts great, sturdy in hand, and really easy to get shaving hair sharp in just a few minutes. Now I can also say basically the same for my American made knifes as well but when ur out in the middle of nowhere and need to use ur knife as a pick, pry bar, screw driver, cut wire things that would chip the blade it definitely doesn't hurt as much with the cheaper blade and again after doing all that even if u broke the tip off a few passes through the Ken onion belt sharpener and it's good to go another round. I own about 50 different knifes and probably 15 price comparable to tenacious and still find myself carrying it daily. One knife I would also recommend in the same price point of Spyderco just not ur thing would be the Kershaw blur (I prefer the tanto blade on it) but which could also be purchased in s35v for sub 100 dollars. If you don't heavy use your knife I would go with something alittle higher end but if u plan on beating it to crap and want it to still operate the same no matter what u do to it Tenacious won't disappoint you I promise ,just the light use people may prefer something nicer

Pretty much summarizes why I bought a 2nd Tenacious Lightweight (8Cr13MoV) as a beater knife.

I always had an interest in the Tenacious but never bought it because of the cheap steel, having already some other Spyderco with better steel (Delica, Chaparral, Yojimbo, Native 5 Lwt, Smock, Caly 3, Centofante 3... ). I bought the Tenacious in S35vn lately and i must admit i like it very much! Great ergo, good size for working, grippy frn, great steel, i think it's a great "working blade"! 125$ isn't a bad price. Yeah you can have different great options for that price (Civivi, QSP, Ontario, Cold Steel or even the famous Benchmade Griptilian) but this Spyderco still a great value if you don't mind not having a finger choil and a liner lock. It's a great slicer for sure!

Blade steel does not push it over the edge for me. The Tenacious fills a niche I don't have.
@MrVaeron3 ай бұрын
I dont know. I like the combination. But the Tenacious is such a interesting knive, cause it has the Spyderco Branding and size of a real work horse for a low the price. Yeah, 83MoV, but thats not to bad for a real workhose. You can literally sharpen it with a stone. I think, 2 years later, its kinda overpiced. They really should have needed to keep the price below 100 Dollar (or Euro). Depending on the store its already in Para 3 LW and Native 5 Range.

I have a Tenacious liner lock that I bought in 2014. It was the first Spyderco that I could middle finger flick. Since then I've mastered all Spydercos but I thought the Tenacious was the easiest.

Interesting video - thanks. I have a Tenacious with the black blade and tan G10 that I keep rather pristine because I think it is cool, and I have a lot of knives. I just picked up a Lightweight Tenacious in a satin blade and black FRN so I can use it as a beater knife. I am pleased with it. To get to the point in a circuitous manner, I think the S35VN version would be a lot more compelling to consumers with a Compression Lock. It would have more of a fidget factor, differentiate it more than previous Tenacious models, and create added value. I'm sure Spyderco corporate simply swapped in the S35VN to ramp up profits and keep things simple. I haven't read all these comments to see if this was already mentioned, but just throwing in my 2 cents. I am very confident with the addition of a Compression Lock (at the same $100 price mark) perceptions of this knife would be quite different. It would really ramp up sales and win over some buyers on the fence. Spyderco would have to re-tool (which they are adept at) and take less profit, however. Thus they just slapped on a new blade steel and doubled the price.
@mrcaptain93333 жыл бұрын
If this was a compression lock, it would be great. It’s nice but ….I just can’t put my finger on it..not my favourite.
@wartstein88143 жыл бұрын
Well, for me this knife is great exactly because it is not another comp.lock Spydie. In real use a good linerlock is a lot easier, more natural and safer to use. Plus does not create that comp.lock hotspot (due to the cutout on top of the handle that the comp.lock has)

Spyderco seems to be pricing itself out of the market these days. Used to be a fan but the competition has caught up and surpassed it value-wise.
@myhandlewastakenandIgaveup2 жыл бұрын
They are running on community goodwill rather than value and quality (quality hasn’t gone down but their prices negate it) and they are slowly eroding that goodwill.
@MrVaeron3 ай бұрын
Well, and here we are with alot of (most) Benchmades still made out of S30V for the price Spyderco is already pushing S45VN, 110V, M4 and even Magnacut. Its a bit hillarious how this comment just aged poorly
@jeffreyfinney69302 жыл бұрын
I Carry a tenacious love it to death. 98$ is a good price for it considering s35vn is expensive in other Spyderco knives and some others. I hear people say that they want a better steel but really all the one's that are considered budget in real use do no better or are harder to sharpen. Seems sometimes can't win for losing everybody wants something for nothing.

Can't see how the manix 2 is better than the Tenacious in any fashion. The ball lock is a weak point that easily gets gummed up and with enough use the spring will fail, the blade edge is shorter (blade edge length to handle ratio sucks), it's heavier, and in comparable steel it's 50% more expensive. It's not even close.

Not for me. Too many other options at $100. I don't dislike the Tenacious. But the Polestar is a better knife with BD-1 steel for $70. the The Delica is $85. The Delica with K390 is only $115. It would have been more interesting to me to see a Tenacious with AEB-L, CPM 154, or MagnaCut. Or even non stainless like 52100.

I absolutely LOVE my Delica in K390. Obviously it is less robust than the Tenacious, but the Delica delivers on it's design function spectacularly.
