the only issues I've had with mine after a lottle over 2 years, is that it's no longer centered, and the action isn't as fast as it should be. I've cleaned the entire knife and watched your centering video countless times, followed your instructions to a T, and still can't seem to work out those two kinks. It stays relatively sharp for about a week, before i have to resharpen it, but it gets used heavily. Any suggestions as to how i can remedy my issues, MC?

This one is about 2 years old. In good condition because it hasn't seen much pocket time. My Spyderco experience went out of order. Instead of going Tenacious first, I went Chaparral, Manix, PM2, Delica then Tenacious. Still a great intro knife for somebody who doesn't want to start in the $100 range. Thanks for the shout-out.

I bought a Tenacious about a month ago, and have been sitting here opening and closing it hundreds of times a day. It didn't open really easily with the thumb flick so I added a little oil, but it turns out I start hearing a humming noise as I open and close the tenacious. This is probably after 5000 times opening and closing, sort of the sound of a swing set going backwards and forward, I tried a little more oil it helped but was still there and still not buttery smooth. Well I gave a shot of Ballistol in the pivot and the sounds disappeared and the knife flew open and dropped shut with a small shake, this was a 100% improvement. I just thought I would pass on my luck with Ballistol, it works for me and everything I shoot or cut

I have the all black version and I just bought another one in the satin finish. I absolutely love this knife and it’s really all I carry. I’ve used for cutting through thick pallet straps to breaking down cardboard and still virtually no blade play. Solid knife. My dream Spyderco would be a pm3 but that may be in the future. I love this knife so much I really don’t have a huge desire/need for the pm3 and it’s harder steel but would be a nice one to carry for lighter and more repetitive cutting tasks like breaking down cardboard.

Yep. This bad boy was my first Spyderco. Then I got the Para2. Then the Manix. Oddly,...I went for the Tenacious on EDC. It was just what my hand preferred. The Tenacious is a really underrated blade in its price point. Great cutting geometry. Decent edge retention. Easy to re-sharpen. An absolute WORKHORSE to be a made un China blade. DO NOT let that push you away. Now if it has a weakness??? I'd say the tip strength. But as long as you don't try to break it,....it wont. It's easily a 9 outta 10. The price is incredible for how much knife your getting. And concerning the T6 hardware stripping?? I've disassembled mine many many times for cleaning and it's never been an issue.
@mikewhite2554 жыл бұрын
Just picked one of these up and my first impressions are wow , this is a ton of positive for the price . First Spyderco and I'm really kind of blown away at the in hand feel and the fit and finish for 42 dollars it's stupidly nice , feels great in the hand , action right out of the box is excellent and the factory edge is hair shaving sharp which is not something I expected. This will be the first of many Spyderco for my collection as I am an instant convert from not liking the looks to actually handling one and seeing why beauty is also function . Now to get ahold of a native 5 😁 that's next .

It’s not worth it for the steel you get. 8CR13MOV is a steel that’s barely adequate or barely inadequate. If you can stretch to the $70(ish) price point you can get the Delica. Better steel, better scales and a nicer knife, honestly. Or you can spend the same amount of money on a Civivi Elementum and get D2.

I like the video and the Tenacious love. I feel like many miss out on so much because of 8CR13MOV fear. Mine is 7 years old and still kicking. The centering isn't perfect anymore and it begins to feel a bit old but it still performs fine really. I went to an Ontario Rat 1 D2 for the D2 hype but I am gravitating towards the Tenacious again. Even if it dulls a bit it usually still feels better in use than the Rat 1, blade geometry is one hell of a thing. And, the handle on the Tenacious is just on another level. Besides that, I love how it looks. But, imagine a Tenacious with VG10 or something. I would be over the moon!

I recently got a Tenacious, with M4 blade steel, which is an extreme bargain for $120.00! However, my copy has a little problem. When I tighten the pivot enough to center the blade, it goes stiff and doesn’t flick or fall shut very well. When I loosen it enough to flick easily, it goes way off center. I will probably center it and settle for stiff action. Otherwise this is a great knife at a great price.

Maybe I'm the only one but I genuinely dislike liner/ framelocks. To me a bent piece of steel or titanium is one of the least elegant solutions to lock a knife. When that system puts your fingers directly in the blades' path it irks me even more. For me it's plunge lock> compression lock> linerlock. I'm still waiting for protech to make my perfect knife. The mordax is getting very close though.
@gw91894 жыл бұрын
I have this knife and many others. I really like it, once it’s broken in its great. Spyderco does a great job with that steel. If I only $50 doll hairs to spend on a knife this would be the one.

It's absolutely true that you often have to handle a Spyderco before you get it. I thought they looked weird, but I got a UK Penknife in LC200N because I thought it would make a great fishing knife. I worked the action a few times and boom, I understood. Yeah, the Tenacious is in 8Cr. I. Don't. Care. To me it's a good-to-great EDC knife period full stop. I would compare it to my other two faves in this class, the Badlands Vagabond and the Taiga. It hasn't quite got the stylishness of the Vagabond or the sturdiness of the Taiga-it's a blend of those two qualities. It's not good for the price. It's good period.

@edctoolbox93942 жыл бұрын
Well, I guess this is going to be my first "full size" Spyderco too, just contacted a seller for one, So far I only have the mini slipjoint spyderco trio, but I always wanted a full sized locking one. What I don't understand how you find them ugly, I generally really dislike modern knife designs, as I mainly collect tradicional ones, but Spyderco are the only modern knife design I actually find pretty and most of all ergonomic, There's a few french designs, like the Deejo and Claude Dozorme Frame/Liner lock knives and there's a few other modern designs I like.
@beckmanchilds7564 ай бұрын
That’s good you don’t find them ugly. But they are. At least from a random person’s point of view. It’s just different from the typical person’s point of view when compared to ‘typical’ pocket knives. I didn’t like the look at first but now I own a couple of them and I don’t mind at all. Will def get more in the future

I preordered the Tenatious & I'm thinking this new one is "lite" because of the scales. Not liking the scales much but seeing if it grows on me. If not I may return it or just turn it into a mod. This was going to be my first Spyderco but before it came I purchased a used Manix 2 from a guy on Instagram selling to raise money for a child with an illness. It came first & in great condition! Plus at over half the price...couldn't pass it up! Maybe that's why I'm a bit disappointed in the Tenatious. 😼

That was a good review on a basic Spyderco knife. I actually got it in a trade. I like the knife. It is a good slicer and definitely not a hard use knife. I have seen everyone use blue loctite on all the screws what is the advantage of purple loctite?? I assume you have a link to it if you reply to the question and I decide to get it.
@metal_complex4 жыл бұрын
Purple loctite is slightly less powerful than blue, and is what a lot of people use on handle screws because they tend to be a smaller head. So there's less risk of stripping. I'll add some to my Amazon store under "knife maintenance" (link in description) 🙂
@cavalry12134 жыл бұрын
I get why they do it, but Spyderco needs to knock it off with their pocket clips. They need to make them deep carry. Especially the PM2, Para 3, Shaman, their higher end models. The Para 3 lightweight has a deep carry wire clip, why not just make the clip on the PM 2 or something deep carry?
