@lordxandalf3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the market adjustment is applied to the trade in. It's based off the book value. If you go research the auction prices, they are way up. Simple economics. With that said, don't go expecting retail value for your trade in, a lot of times people mess up when negotiating a deal and go based off what they feel is a good offer and not what the actual market is bringing for their trade in. That's not to say you should just settle at the first offer, but you should research the market and understand that some cars that are booking higher aren't always worth what the books say. In some cases, the books say that the trade in value is worth more than the original MSRP. That would indicate that the new car price should adjust accordingly.

Took about an hour and half to get the Year and Price. Which was $17900. Problem is, When New, It was $149ish. Plus Freight and Assembly. I leased a new 2020 Escape last week. My lease return was valued at $4000 over the residual buyout so the dealer put that equity in the new deal as a down payment. Thanks Kevin, I used your advice last summer to purchase my first new vehicle. It's a 2020 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium. MSRP was $44k, I negotiated down to $36,500 (price of a base model) before tax, tag, and fees. Thanks to your vids and walking me through the process. Also went into the finance office, had lots of fun there. Told them I wanted 1.9% They told me the best I could get was 5.4 with my "OK" credit score (of 730). Funny story of my credit score, I paid off the mortgage on my home as well as my student loans last year. That tanked my 830 credit score because now I had almost no credit history. He then said, "but wait we got the payment you wanted." My told him, "I don't care about the payment, I have no debt. Go ahead and make it a 3 year loan LOL." His final offer was 2.23% :) Yep. The finance guy was furious, they didn't make as much money off of me as they had hoped. He was soo mad after I agreed to the terms. I got a great deal and learned a lot from you and your advice. Thanks!

When I was young and dumb and approximately 24 years ago, I went to a stealership and purchased a small truck. I didn't bargain, I didn't haggle. I simply rolled over and paid whatever they asked for. Then I went to their finance office where I signed whatever they put in front of me. I didn't question anything. I thought that the business model of paying whatever price they asked for and signing every piece of paper they had was "standard" and that that's "the way it is at all stealerships"......I was the perfect sucker.

Feel free to ask your salesman how he gets paid. if he gets paid off gross he might try to upsell you if he gets paid per unit he has no intention to and has no incentive to. I bought my Lexus new back in Nov. of 2018. It was just like Kevin said final price was below invoice well into the holdback then another 6k off from the factory rebate. In total $10900 off msrp. I would never pay msrp or worse over msrp. Low inventory,chip shortage does not justify dealers acting like this. Unless your stuck without a car and you really need one don't buy anything this year, they'll drop the prices. Paying msrp or worse over msrp will just leave you ridiculously under water in your car loan.

So, I asked what he could do on the other, slightly less expensive model ('21 mazda cx-5 carbon edition). He looked me in my face and said "I'm not coming off that price (the MSRP). At all. We can sell these before they even arrive on the lot." And with that, we left!
