But I'm not prepared to pay your outlandish markups when I can get the same thing aftermarket for a fraction of the price. Either take them off the car, or throw them in." I can't decide if he's delusional or knowingly deceptive when he says the car sales industry isn't the way it used to be, when he's out there deliberately trying to make sure it stays that way. I literally just got back from the dealership. It’s a jungle out there. There are barely any cars on the lot. I experienced this today. The asked for the OTD price before i even stepped on the lot and of course they gave me the run around and I see why now. First the car wasn’t even delivered to the lot and they wanted a deposit to “hold” the car. I did understand that because there’s barely any inventory. Then he finally wrote up the Deal😂😳. Approx $3k in Addon but he didn’t call them that lol he said it was accessories that had to be put on the car. I was shocked. I told the salesman well if the car isn’t even delivered yet don’t add the accessories as I don’t wAnt or need Poly Steel, Red alert, nitrogen, and a bunch of other bull they added. Like wtf is red alert 😩. It was just all bad. I laughed at him and left. He didn’t care because someone who don’t know any better will pay $25k for a Kia Forte just not me😂😂😂

I bought a new truck a couple months ago and immediately told them that I wouldn't pay for any of that stuff. It was instantly gone. Even in this seller's market it vanished. I figured that the salesman stood the most to lose if he didn't make the sale. I could just walk away and buy elsewhere; the dealership could have sold the truck to the next guy, but the salesman would have likely lost the sale (unless he was the lucky one that sold it to the next guy). So I left it up the him, and he took it off the price instantly.

I sold cars for a couple years. Not aggressive so I never really considered it as a long term job. There’s a lot of pressure to get everyone you contact sold and it’s not just about money, it’s about just keeping your job. I have a little sympathy for some salesmen because if they don’t sell you, their boss thinks the salesman is costing them opportunities, costing them money. I saw decent moral people turn into snakes salesmen. Strangely enough my non pressure sales personality gave me a bit of a client base that was annoyed by boisterous aggressive and I did well with it but I just tired of the environment. The tipping point was trickery like addendums and garbage service plans being sold in Fand I office.

Also, my cars are warranted until they are 10 to 12 years old, as I always buy the extension just as the original warranty is expiring.

I said NO I DON'T WANT IT! They sent me a check for $250.00. After getting the check, I did more math. I found there was a portion of sales tax on this product. They still owed me 21 or so dollars so, I went back a second time to request the sales tax money I was owed. The F&I guy was pissed & made a comment "This deal has been just awful"....I'm thinking why is it my fault that it's awful since you guys weren't honest with me in the first place. So in looking for used vehicles at local dealerships, there were 2 that listed no haggle pricing for 2 vehicles I was looking at. The one showed me all the work that they did on the car getting it ready to sell I actually use them for service and it looked like a regular service invoice. When analyzing the offering price based on THG model, it didn't seem terribly exhorbant (sp?) in regards to profit after the service upgrades. The other dealership's vehicle did seem a bit high priced, but there were all of these other features added on like heavy duty hitching, a suspension package, roof racks and other stuff. That is why I was thinking that the offering price was so high, but they list it as their no haggle price (It was a Mercedes dealership selling a used Chevy).

My significant other bought a Toyota Corolla and the dealership put on the tint. Worst job ever! Air bubbles all over it and creases. They didn't stand behind the poor job and redo it. Go to a window tint shop.

I had a dealer try to sell me in the nitrogen in my tires. I reminded him that 70 percent of the air we breathe is nitrogen. And of course refused to get it.

Had a dealer in DFW area in Texas want to sell nitrogen in the tires in a several years old Mazda 3 for a couple hundred dollars. Balked, and the then tried to sell it with a 'nitrogen' blend at a 25% reduction in price. Ended up walking away from that car.

I have basically adopted the tactic, that in the very beginning after meeting someone from a dealership I ask them a couple of questions. 1: Do you get paid to service a customers needs? 2: Can you service a customers needs without listening to the customer? 3: If I have to tell you No more than once, you are not listening to me, and I am not your customer. I then walk out. Saves me the time and stress to my blood pressure from the hassle.

I love how his fake customer just rolls over, like I know some customers may do that, but like even the not-so-savvy will have a little more resistance than that guy did.

Hyundai is offering zero percent financing or 2.9 percent with $2,000 rebate. I live in Connecticut and wonder if I can set up the 2.9 percent then pay off the loan after one payment essentially saving jus under two grand in the car.

Don’t fall for the either/or bull crap. The dealer gets the cash if you don’t take that and they get some other stipend if you do. You’re perfectly in your right to demand both 0% AND mfg cash. Don’t leave anything on the table!

You got it, Paul. Car Salesmen troll the channel regularly. One of those thumbs down is likely from Steve Richards himself. He's a subscriber here on The Homework Guy channel. We welcome their disappointment with our content, and wear those thumbs down like a badge of honor!

Wheel locks cost about $15. Window tint: $155, GPS tracking: $59, Window antitheft etching: $60, or if I do it, $10. Nitrogen tire inflation? WORTHLESS BS. Stain blocker on the interior $12 What did Nissan want? $3800! For a full sized spare tire that was NOT part of the fluff? $429 with a tire!!!!! I went to a salvage dealer in used car rims, $79 mounted & balanced with a good used tire!

As an insurance agent that works exclusively for a name brand isurance company, I get the customers on my line all the time expecting some huge discount for either, vin etching, lojack, and also the pre-collision braking features that a lot of new cars have now-a-days. Dealers push these items as a selling point to car buyers, and it makes my job harder when I have to tell my customer that all of these extra items there being "sold" doesn't add any additional discount than the traditional air bags, abs, or anti-theft discount would already be on a policy. All of those things they try to sell you on fall under one of those 3 categories. Those categories are 1. any collision mitigation/prevention system(abs, brake assist(such as subaru's eye sight feature), etc..), 2. restraint device(air bags or automatic seatbelts), and 3. anti-theft devices(active or passive alarms, lojack/vehicle location or recovery system, vin etching, etc.) You guys are on the money about the "what portion of the policy" does the discount apply to also. A collision prevention system specifically discounts the collision coverage on the policy. Anti-theft discount is usually 3-5 percent disount on the comprehensive coverage because that's the coverage that covers theft. Finally, restraint devices discount the PIP(personal injury protection) or medical payments coverage, which may not be on some policies because it's not required in all states.

They tried to sell me a KARR security system addendum which I refused... what they should have sold was an overprice Viper alarm system as the KARR is worthless and the 2021 RAV4 does not have even a basic security system installed... you know the one where if the doors are locked and someone opens them from the inside the alarm goes off...

If I had to deal with that guy I would have walked out after the 1st 5 min! Just gives me the creepy, slimy car sales guy vibe! My fiance isn't a car person, he's the kind that buys what he wants, pays cash and leaves. I'm the "sales searcher" , get my $$ worth, gas milage and car reliability gal. I found our current car, a 2004 Honda accord lx( love this car!) So I guess I'll be the negotiating the vehicle price and he'll write the check...for the whole amount. I've finally talked him Into doing this in stages instead of on 1 day. So I've been binge watching your channel, and it's IMMENSELY appreciated . Btw, all my cars have been muscle cars and were built by car guy ex-boyfriends and ex-husband, this will be my 1st brand new vehicle! Lol

How about "first"? Tell the salesman you don't want to play games, and you want to START with the OTD price. You're there to buy a car, not play tennis.

How does one handle addendums on used cars? We had a place in Conroe, Texas refuse to remove their $2000 security package (that I can buy myself for $265). They have associations with both Nissan and Honda with their "Used Car" dealership nestled in-between. Does one still have recourse voicing a complaint with a manufacturer if the used car lot is a separate entity? We walked, but they are unapologetic on their website reviews with complaints from numerous people about this behavior. By the way, they came back with the $2000 higher price AFTER running our credit. Sure wish we had watched some of your other videos first!

Ed Napleton Honda, St. Peters Missouri. About 8 years ago. I went in to buy an Odyssey. There was a BIG list of shit on the side sticker. I told the salesman "I'M NOT PAYING FOR ANY OF THAT." His response? "YES YOU ARE." I laughed, and left, and went to Frank Leta Honda, and purchased my new Odyssey the next day. I THEN called the original dealership, and spoke to the sales manager, and told him what his salesman said. His response?? "OOF!" He then told me that he would check to make sure I DID purchase a Honda. Heh heh heh. Go for it.

@@KevinHunter Only a high-weight high-speed aircraft can generate enough heat in its brakes to cause spontaneous combustion inside a tire; in cars, maybe - just maybe a Nascar ride could heat up a tire enough to do that - have you ever seen the brake on a "stock" car after a high-performance stop? Try that in your car!
