These videos are invaluable. Both the training videos and your subsequent commentary. I recently had to endure a sales manager’s attempt to sell me paint protection and wheel protection. He was met with a “no”. “Do you mind telling me why you don’t want these packages?” was met with “I do, no further discussion of this subject is needed, my decision is final.” This was our second visit to the dealership and we had made it clear when we called prior to that visit that we intended to purchase the car. Not after talking with this guy. We drove to this dealership (70 miles one way - twice and he knew it) - that should have told him something. He had the car sold before he ever met us and still managed to talk us out of it. We thanked him and walked out. Parenthetically, the customer over at the next table - an elderly gentleman - was sitting facing one salesperson and while surrounded by three others standing over him “helping” him decide to buy. If they tried that with me I think I would have enjoyed that. Knowing what’s coming next and more importantly the dynamic behind it makes it much easier to say “no” and stick to it. Thank you.

There is an advantage of diversifying bank accounts, cross-collateral. Some banks (especially credit unions) use cross-collateral to protect themselves. What this means is if you get into financial trouble and all your accounts are at the same credit union, they treat them all as one. In other words, if you get behind on your credit card they may repossess your vehicle.

@@KevinHunter Isn't it true that they can still sell those as "new" cars since they've never been licensed?
@KevinHunter3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the car still sits in the "new" category and it's due to the fact that the vehicle title was never transferred. It takes a title transfer to change ownership, and when ownership moves from the dealer to the consumer, it now becomes "used." This is a good thing to know for the future on used cars as well, because I've seen plenty of car deals that fell apart after the deal was done. A persistent customer got the dealer to take the car back. What was the biggest reason they agreed to do it in the end? The state had not yet transferred the title (new or used), and the vehicle was still titled in the dealers name. They contacted the state, and cancelled the transfer request, putting everything back the way it was.

It's what the manufacturers do to drive sales when customers aren't coming in. Instead of dropping prices, because they always want prices to be high, they use a financing incentive to get you in the door. Every time you see a very low interest rate advertised, you should always know it's a bad time to buy a car in terms of car prices. Sluggish sales create promotions, and promotions are done in a way to benefit the car dealer and the manufacturer the most, while giving up the least to the consumer. Hopefully that makes sense. I've never gone in to a dealer on a rate incentive, ever.

Car Dealers use all sorts of gimmicks to get you "in the door". If there finance is lower than a big bank its because they are making up the difference & then some with an inflated vehicle valuation. That's great advice about banks from the THG team. I'm the third generation of my family to bank with the same banking institution and they really appreciate that, especially when I go to them for loans. Back when I left the military and bought my first house I was just a young man who didn't have much credit or experience with life outside of the military or college. I went to a couple of different banks (who advertised themselves as home loan specialists) to attempt to get a home loan and they turned me down as too much of a risk due to being single and very little credit history, despite the fact that I had a well paying job and no bad credit (just very little credit history). On my third attempt at getting a home loan I went to my personal bank and the bank manager, who was a friend of my parents, assisted me with getting a home loan. He was very helpful and explained the process to me, why I should get a 30 year loan to start off with and then refinance it for 15 years in one or two years when I had built up my credit and even offered to assist me with the refinance when the time came. I took that advice, received the loan, refinanced it to a 15 year loan two years later and had a new house payment that was only about $25 or so higher than my previous 30 year loan payment. The following year that same bank also assisted me on a loan for a new car and gave me advice on purchasing the car. That was back in the early days of the internet when the biggest thing on KZbin was cat video's. Fast forward to the present and my house has been paid off for several years, the bank manager has since passed away, but the lessons that he taught me (as well as many other customers who banked with him) are still remembered and practiced. I'm just glad that channels like this are around now to pass on that same great advice!!

Do people actually pay for this training?
@ToyotaTom043 жыл бұрын
Yes, dealers do and make their salespeople attend. Why? Because it works.
@thomasmargolis33133 жыл бұрын
As a person that has purchased vehicles from dealerships/persons with this training, I can tell you it does not work on ALL persons that enter a dealers doors. I walked out of at least one dealer, where its their business and they can operate it any way they want. Prior awkward lessons have make me an exception to the statement, and probably others.

@@thomasmargolis3313 No salesperson closes 100% of people. The very best in the industry close at 30-40% of face to face contacts and not always on the first visit.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Andy or Steve Richards would put these types of videos on the Internet. They paint car salesmen in the worst light and just reinforce why the majority of people don't trust them.

That guy Andy's BULL SHIT is too deep. I would just walk away from him and his kind!

What info do you need to give the dealer to test drive a vehicle?
@KevinHunter Жыл бұрын
Just a copy of your drivers license, which is something you can do yourself before car shopping. Remember to black out your DOB. Avoid any dealer claiming you need to complete a credit app.

When I go looking at cars, I always tell these jackweeds that I am looking for a car for my brother. He doesn't know much about cars so he asked me to help him. They will back way off of you then.

I’d tell him that I wouldn’t be 100% satisfied with any new car ether.

I'm always looking, because that's what we do. Paying attention to the car markets and what's happening at dealerships. His arguments would never work on any of us for anything.

Car sales is a bro job for dudes who couldn't get a better job. They are arrogant AF and convince themselves the customer is an idiot and easily manipulated. Then they have to lie their ass off and become actors, compromising their integrity and souls if they had any to begin with. Its a gross business that I hope goes away soon. I know, I was a car sales man for a couple weeks - couldn't do it.

Pull the video where he trains that guy... "customer calling about car, you don't have it, you can't get it" He literally trains to lie to get caller in the door.
