True somehow... while westeners usually try to be more independent, many chinese people tend to be very focused on the"we" instead of "I". But of course, it can be the other way round as well. And we can probably learn from each other to keep the balance.

As someone who spent half my life in each world, this is COMPLETELY REALISTIC! What’s more incredible is that both girls and the guy would be considered really good partners in their respective cultures. The fact that the Chinese girl actually offered to pay for half the house means she’s extremely accepting.
Nah the western culture is more of a individualistic one whereas most eastern cultures are collective. That already explains very much. Btw tho, keep in mind that different people have different perspectives which means that different people in a same culture could have very different ideologies, try not to generalize, thank you.

@@Respin12333 how did he? The countries them selves tends to have an overall individualistic or collective stand point possibly from adapting different ideologies, but that doesn't mean every person within those countries thinks alike. There's no contradiction here
@maxverner23415 жыл бұрын
@@CC-il3hw Because this is a stereotype that I really hope gets debunked in the near future as more and more awareness is raised with real East Asian culture. Yes there is definitely a collectiveness like the saying in English "there's no I in team" but just like that saying in Asia this is more about education and discipline. Actually without it Asians are incredibly individualistic. This is where you get the well known characteristic of Asian mothers and how they constantly compare their kids to other kids. They want theirs to be the best. Similarly Asian individuals want to compete to be better than their peers. They want to show off. So a culture was developed around this to prevent the individualism from having a negative impact on society. Just imagine the kind of chaos you'd have if 1.4 billion people only cared about themselves? On the other hand the west developed in the same but opposite way. Individuals in western cultures love to be part of the group. Fitting in a big part of growing up and being a unique little snowflake isn't as nice when your peers think you're weird and make you an outcast. Excommunication was a powerful weapon used by the church. So a culture developed around them to stand out and be proud to be who they are as individuals rather than follow the crowd. It's allowed them to be less fearful of becoming a social pariah and embrace what makes them different. You can actually see this play out in the types of fictional stories between the cultures. For example Journey to the West is probably the most famous tale for Chinese youth. Sun Wukong is like China's main superhero. So the story is about a group traveling to the west but most people cling to Sun Wukong as the hero of the story because he's the bravest and most powerful of the group. Others hang onto Tang Shen for his wisdom and level headedness. Usually the major crises are taken care of by either Sun Wukong's power and cunning or defused by Tang Shen's nobility while Zhu Bajie and Sha Heshang usually carry the weight and don't really have many accomplishments. Now in the west you'd have individual superheroes right? Superman and Batman are their own heroes. But when the enemies become bigger threats you unite them and other superheroes into the Justice League so that together they can defeat the enemy.

He looked so guilty, but was shocked when I asked what they look like (we are the same size shoe, so I can wear his shoes.) After i said they looked nice he just couldn’t believe I wasn’t yelling at him. He has told me I am the easiest girl he has ever dealt with. I don't feel comfortable asking anyone get me something if I can get it myself. also, my period doesn't run me. if I want ice cream, I shall have ice cream. and I'm not sentimental so if the boyfriend I'll never have says he loves me, id get a piece of paper, write it down, and hand it to him because having me say it would result in me stuttering, panicking, and passing out from anxiety.
@charles_capet3213 жыл бұрын
I guess a lot of these depends on the person/couple, some girls’ periods give them intense cramps that increase when they consume something cold but get soothed when they consume warm things like water, tea, or soup. Also it’s extremely common in Chinese culture that everybody drinks warm/hot water, and it’s common knowledge that girls on their periods drink hot water that it’s almost insensitive that a boyfriend gives iced water to his girlfriend when she’s on her period, so that’s why the girl in the video is mad when her boyfriend gives her ice water when he knows that she’s on her period. Of course all these depends on the person, but that’s how it generally goes
I mean the pink hair gal is so nice. Dating her is rather pressure free. But it is definitely Crystal who can actually win my heart. She decided to sacrifice big for the relationship/marriage even without any hesitation. Her shy smile after saying"It's so mushy" was priceless. You can easily pick which gal was in deeper love.BTW the housing BS is a deep rooted problem of the Chinese society. Neither one of the young couple should take the blame IMO.
@badlandsghost6 жыл бұрын
ukyee yea but remember the pink hair girl is a foreigner so it's harder for her to make new friends and get a new job which is why she'd hesitate, for the Chinese girl it's easier because she's from the country

I'd prefer the pink-haired girl. Moving anywhere is a big decision to make and being quick to move to another city so easily doesn't indicate how much someone is willing to sacrifice but rather how rash they are in their decision-making. In my opinion, I do think that what the Chinese girl did was rash and I therefore prefer the pink-haired girl. I'd prefer a person who would think things through rather than jump all in, so you could say I make decisions with my mind (thinking) rather than my heart (feeling). Thinking with either isn't a problem but I guess my preference leads me to liking the other person.
@HilaryCocciola6 жыл бұрын
He's basically asking her to sacrifice her career to follow him. Not wanting to move with your boyfriend doesn't mean you love him less. It's just that that girl has her own goals to achieve that can't be fulfilled in Beijing cause she should have started everything all over again. It's a very selfish thing to ask someone and you can't expect that your significant other will agree and move with you. Morover, not trying to be dramatic but 70% of relationships don't last. What are you gonna do after you break up in a city where you don't have a stable job, friends and family?
@strangeFINE6 жыл бұрын
as a western girl i was taught that it's bad to base life decisions and career dreams on a relationship. it may not be romantic, but where i live it's considered stupid and rash behaviour. a friend of mine even broke up with her partner, because he was about to throw his dreams over for her and she felt like that wasn't love, it was unhealthy obsession. i don't mean it's necessarily bad to move for your partner and make sacrifices, but it has to go both ways and to expect a woman to follow the man around like a puppy is just not realistic nowadays. my mom did that for my father and afterwards she suffered from depression, because she couldn't find friends or a job in the new place, and they almost separated. i guess for men it's a nice idea, that she would do anything for you, but it's very selfish to expect that. things like that need to be well thought about and her priorities need to be considered. if those are family and a high income on your side, by all means, she should move with you, but if they are career and being an equal partner to you, it doesn't mean she doesn't love you enough.
Meanwhile here “Do you love me?” “......*no answer*” “I aske-“ “I heared but that’s a too personal question I can’t just tell you I love you like that” 🤔
