dealer said my left front inner or inboard axle seal in the oil pan is leaking - as you said yours is staining the bottom of the oil pan. So instead of paying $2100 to repair - could I just keep refilling the 75W differential fluid? thanks

Thanks for this video, just did this a couple of days ago using your method. I also had a similar leak, so you made the diagnosis easy, no more leak now. I had a huge issue getting the U-Joint to pop out. Had to use a lot of strength with a pry bar for a while. Everything else was cake, no need to even lower the propeller shaft either, you can just keep it wedged up.

You made it look easy Kevin! I always wrap tape around the u-joint just to hold the caps in place. Good to see your son supervising, lol

Very helpful thank you. How often do you change your transfer case fluid? I’ve only changed it twice and my TB has 261k.

Thanks for watching. If I'm not mistaken, the manufacturer recommends changing the TC fluid every 50k miles.

Hey that rubber seal thing above the cross member. Shaped like an old house phone withe the 2 circles on each end. What is that??? Any answers may help. I think I might have a small leak from there.

Would you suggest using Permatex around the outside of the transfer case seal? I used it on the rear axle seals of my trailblazer.

I don't believe that's how the seals were designed to be installed. If you need Permatex to seal it then there maybe something else causing the leaking, like a gouge or warped surface.

@@KevinNadeau If you live in the northeast, the seal won't be easy to remove because the lip will be rusted. Use a long thin scresdriver and hammer. You'll likely need to destroy the lip half way around and start tapping screwdriver directly inward on edge of seal and gently prying. I was very frustrated when the seal finally started to give. Installation isn't easy either. I had a big socket for front trailblazer axle, but that wasn't long enought. I drilled hole in small section of 2x4 to fit over shaft along with big socket. The vehicle frame crossmember will prevent typical hammer strikes, so use the top of hammer. Be careful, don't damage your shift cable! FYI, I use some permatex on outer edge of seal and purple grease on inner.
