Yes, it is so easy to get away into the backcountry compared with other places.

Sweet campsite at the end of your video but a bit of work getting setting up I imagine. All worth it! Thanks for taking us along on another adventure with you Kevin.

Another great couple of days on the trip. Smart play to wait out the storms. In the 1st video you we were waiting to hit your stride, and I felt you getting there in this video. Your head was on a swivel, and your situational awareness when approaching those rapids was the real indicator to me that you've hit your groove. Looking forward to more of this adventure!

I think the nature of canoe tripping (rapids, campsites, weather, decision making) forces you into a more focused state of mind. Even if you feel unprepared at the start of a trip I don't think it is possible to travel solo in this environment without eventually getting into a groove. :)

You are already so much more in your element compared to the previous episode. That "turkey shoot" round of fishing must have been a big morale booster. And friendly neighbours (cousins) with cold beer certainly didn't hurt. :) Looking forward to the next installment. :)

Yes it was! The base of any rapid or waterfall in that area is usually pretty good.

What a beautiful trip and gorgeous country. The fish fry looked amazing. I’ve never had walleye as I live in the Rockies mountains and usually catch trout.

My buddy and I were in in this area in 2022. We had to cut our way into the parking area by Smye which took about 4 hours and delayed our start by a day. We entered at Smye Lake and then stayed on Flindt lake for a couple days. We then headed south on the Flindt River.After a day going south we turned back north and went through the south end of Wilkie and back out. I really like Wabakimi. I've gone out of Armstrong and also a few trips entering on the west side. I am told there is an entry point further north on the 701 Rd but I haven't gone up that far.

I'd really like to. look at doing this but my canoe is a carbon fusion hull. Not sure I could run some of these rapids. May have to walk it down. Cold beer? That was Busch - more like a clod water with a bit of alcohol. LOL. Still, a nice gesture though.

Yeah, lots of boulders everywhere. When we get to the fire video (next) you will see that the ground is full of boulders and so are the rivers. These aren't 'old rivers' like you get in other parts of North America with round, river washed stones, these are all jagged, and even when I am careful it is a challenge to not scrape the boat. I wasn't going to complain about American beer on camera, but I hear you 100% 🍁🍺

Fantastic work! I was fortunate enough to travel virtually the same route the year before the fire (train in Flindt Landing and out- Colins), I am very curious to see what damage occurred, (your American fishermen were more generous than the ones we saw on that same lake!).

June is not ideal to avoid bugs. I always look for an open breezy site but that isn't always possible.

Hey Kev, great video. How heavy is that canoe?
@KevinOutdoors
@KevinOutdoors Ай бұрын
That's a Nova Craft, Prospector 16' made with their 'TuffStuff Expedition' material. The canoe is rated at 60 lbs. It is a pretty heavy boat and I own lighter boats but I got this boat specifically for wilderness trips with white water components. To my knowledge, this is the toughest canoe currently on the market.
