Great video as always. My feedback to enrich the experience would be to provide 2 sample data sets with written instruction steps on their own regarding the second data set. This way, when we're following along, we do the first data set by visually following your steps. Next, we practically apply our newly learn't knowledge in a semi-supervised (stand alone instruction steps) format, allowing us to build muscle memory without going from the shallow end (supervised) right into the deep end (unsupervised). I've been trying to get around to learning and actually using Power Pivot, and this is great tutorial for the basics. The only issue I have with examples like this is that it's good for theory, but not for practical use. In the real world, each order would have to be frozen in time, in effect. The costs in the product table might apply to a few orders when the invoices were created, but costs and selling prices change all the time. Same with customer address info. Each order when it's complete would have to have all the information saved in static tables with costs, selling prices, and customer data as permanent info attached to that table, since you could never rely again on the product table as a source of accurate info for that particular invoice. Still, this is good for learning how table relationships work and how data models are created.

30 minutes of cookie talk is making me hungry. It's also making me want Kevin Cookie Company merch. This tutorial is really helpful. It seems much more intuitive than Access to me, as I've been using Excel for 20+ years, but I'm mainly self-taught. I can see where Power Pivot will be very useful to me with QuickBooks reports that NEVER connect all the elements I need to see in one report. by importing those reports into Excel and then connecting the tables, this should save me a LOT of the manual data entry I've always had to do. I really appreciate this video!!! Thanks Kevin! And think about that KCC merch!

Thanks could be useful. I’m used to performing all the data relationships & queries in Access, then pulling results into Excel for analysis. I’ve also learned BI, which does everything for you but has its own drawbacks. So this is something else I’ll have to pick up. Excellent presentation, very clear & understandable!
