my car is no where near as loud but still loud enough to wake up the house I found cutting the tip off of a road cone and making it a snug fit over the exhaust tip made a huge difference ( I have a full straight pipe DC5 )

I've got a '16 wrx that's straight piped. 3" invidia catless jpipe and catback. Put a nameless muffler delete on. Luckily the turbo acts like a muffler. Sounds loud but awesome

Man, I feel you on the loud exhaust. I've got my FRS supercharged, and decided to put a Tomei Ti exhaust on it. It's painfully loud, but it's hard to argue with the performance.

If just cold start is the problem, why not have your tuner turn off cat heating/cold start via Ecutek. That’s what I did on my straight piped Supra.. neighbors love me again lol

I hate taking off the aero panels! I didn't mind dropping the sub-frame but dreaded those panels for some reason. I'm considering a muffler delete to save weight for autocross for an otherwise stock exhaust. I wonder what that would sound like?

Muffler deletes will obviously be louder, but when I had one on my car I didn't mind it at all.

I have the FT86 Motorsports Muffler delete pipe and it sounds pretty good. It has plenty volume when you're wringing it out, but doesn't drone at all on the highway and is very low key when you're driving around town. Great video as always, love that you actually tried the pool noodles 😂 I’m gonna give it a go myself, gonna duct tape a bunch of Costco rags to em and see how it goes to pack it in tight I just installed catless JDL UEL headers, and have the remark axle back. Cold starts are 95-97db, about 10db higher than just the axle back UEL is just too good imo 🤤

So many tracks these days are imposing sound limits: typically 100db measured from trackside. If your car is >=100dB on a cold start, I don't want to think about how loud it is when you're on the throttle. Nothing other than a mechanical failure would bum me out faster than getting a black flag for my exhaust and not being able to get track time when I've already paid for an event, done all the prep, and am ready to let it rip. I'd like to see a focus on setups that won't get you booted from an event.

In my personal experience the muffler has the biggest impact on sound volume. Resonators and high flow cats just change the tone of the sound.

Any modifications to the engine voids the warranty, im sure you can change up the exhaust (your headers)…but it’s toyota so ask your stealership before asking anyone else lol

Any mod that requires a non-stock tuning will make any Toyota engine warranty pretty much useless. Toyota's postion is that mods don't necessarily void your warranty, but if it can be shown that they contributed in any way to a failure you'll be out of luck. So, for example, if you have a suspension component failure, they aren't going to deny the warranty claim just because you have after market headers. But if you fitted non-stock electronics and then had an electrical failure, you'd have a tough time getting that component replaced under warranty unless you could prove it truly was due to faulty manufacture. My dealer said if you install an oil cooler and it leaks, dumping all your oil and then your engine fails; that's on you.
