Stripped stud - Kevin coming in clutch with these videos of course after seeing this video i will be doing my own.
@MyGoToUserName3 жыл бұрын
I used a ball joint press to press each stud out. Less impact on the wheel bearing. For us salt belt folks I'd suggest buying a separate bolt to remove the rotors. You'll also probably not be able to get the rear hub off. I cut the nipple off the 2.5" studs and they will squeeze in without taking the hub off.
@KevinVo3 жыл бұрын
A press is certainly a good option. Luckily this car is pretty clean in terms of rust, but I could see rust being a PITA.

I never thought of that. That should make installing the rears so much easier!

Homie what did you do
@Maxwell1725P3 жыл бұрын
@@schlimegod2175 back out the 4 bolts, but don't remove them, leave enough good thread inside. Hit the bolts from their heads (punching the hub out). You may mess the bolts though. It also helps the interface soaked with pb blaster overnight. A smal pry bar also helps. There a few places around you can get them in. Last idea, a thick chisel, but be careful with damaging the knuckle.

Found out that on a 2022 BRZ, you will need to remove the front hubs to slide extended wheel studs in. It isn’t hard, but clearance to remove the front hubs is tight.
@KevinVo2 жыл бұрын
Most likely due to the different front knuckle on the 22 BRZ. On the GR86 it should be the same process as the previous gen.

I just used some spare lug nuts I had laying around because I didn't want to damage the lug nuts I usually run.

This might be an stupid question but does messing with the hub assembly required an alignment after?
@KevinVo2 жыл бұрын
It'll depend on what exactly you're doing to the hub assembly. If you're doing what I did in the video, you won't need an alignment as I didn't actually mess with any of the mounting locations that would affect the alignment.

Finally attempted this today for the rears because my fronts have extended studs! I failed. I only got to one wheel in the rear. I could not get the hub to come out a bit like in this video. It was stuck, really stuck. I ended up putting regular studs back in. I basically wasted 5 studs and lost a few hours of my day 😵💫 From Guam, USA 🇬🇺
