I went to jr high (Columbus Jr. High in Canoga Park) with the pookie twins. Grew up in the 30's but moved to the 83GC. I was always active but wasn't from any set. Till I moved to 83GC. Got put on the turf. Seen one of the Pookie twins years later on at a crip function. He called me by my government name and said to me I knew they were going to get you homie. Talking about the 83 GANGSTERS. It was crazy Cuz I'm here looking at someone I grew up with but Cuz of set politics, I'm suppose to hate him and his brother. That's something hard to swallow. Cruz in school we ran together and had fun representing crip. Later ran into his brother in Soledad prison and it was the same thing. He called me by my government name and we laughed at each other because we knew one another but knew the politics of both our sets kept us from communicating. But I can say they always represented that set since they were knee high.

What’s even crazier is that type of beef even made it to my city of Phoenix we got put on to Crippin and all that other shit for sure by the 80’s we definitely didn’t have as much of the set politics but they were still there. Although the gangs were already in my neighborhood I didn’t really notice them until the end of 6th grade summer when we were getting ready to go into junior high some of the kids that were my closest buddies in elementary school became my enemies at 1st it was mostly because the Mexicans went blood and the blacks went Crip I was half white half mexican but my best best friends were black so by the time I hit 7Th grade now all of a sudden ima Crip not even because I wanted to be but because my enemies labeled me as one so the Mexicans that I was cool with in elementary became my 1st enemies later on came the Crip on Crip violence which was more fucked up then the shit we had with the bloods my biggest enemies ended up being some of the Crips that we were initially tied to. The game is sad man I’m lucky to be coming up on my 40’s a lot of people I grew up with didnt even live to see 16 let alone 18 I was able to live long enough to change my life there’s been too many children/fathers/mothers/brothers lost to that shit.

I just wonder would a Hoover really do an interview with a dude from Sixties especially if he is from 74 or 83. Growing up in 107 Selo Hoover hood, it is hard for me to believe they would. Ricardo Gant, the one that I'm talking about was going towards 120th, on the East side of the street😎
@Ricardo.9726 жыл бұрын
@pharoah naw bro I'm 100percent that it was the name of the game never knew that it was a club on century and Crenshaw unless you talkin about Crenshaw and imperial
@pharoah12006 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Gant, yeah where there's a gas station now on the Southeast corner of Century & Crenshaw, that use to be a nightclub. They always had the curtains open on the Century side and you could see the big lighted disco ball hanging from the ceiling. That was The Name of the Game. Crenshaw & Imperial is where the Pussycat theatre was🐯
