Back in the day around that entire neighborhood, there was no beef at all between Blacks and Mexicans, as a whole. Now, someone could have a personal issue with an individual and such. But, on a large scale, nah. Florence pretty much kept to themselves. You could be at Bethune Park, Roosevelt Park, the Car Wash (Florence & Mae), or Huntington Park, and everyone just did their own thing. No problems😼

U usually ended up in one them tanks. 10th floor was where alotta 17-25 yrs old, were bidding. Called the 'Gladiator Floor'. Were u had to box damn near everyday. U had a gang of homies from ur hood u good. If not u was catching the square, Being hog=gladiator or getting hogged. 5th floor was the next level of Gladiators, MEN. Mostly 25 n up, except it wasn't a game. Mofos get stuck, bust up side the head with mop wringers, n blanket parties like a muhfukka! 90s hit then 701 Franklin St opened up. N sent half of both young n old gladiators n a more controlled environment very limiting like close custody. It was more convict vs CO's(boss man) there. Where I was during the 92' Rodney King Uprising, it was on for a day or so n 701. There wasn't any Blacks n Mexicans fighting one another. To us it seemed like hope. Like the Homies were striking back. N we was all wit it. Man I totally related to things Deeno spoke on. 💯 Kev Mac!
