Just have to say there are so many talented musicians of this generation. As an "old guy" my biggest frustration is so many of my generation are too stubborn to see the great music being made today. Instead of reliving the past, enjoy today and give these artists the credit they deserve!

Totally agree. I am a self-described "music snob" of the Millennial generation and I constantly lament about how music is so bad these days but that's mostly in reference to Top 40 shit. Turned me off completely from hip-hop, and then I discovered the actual roots of hip-hop and there's some actual good stuff out there. As well as indie rock like this.

Cody S - Pedals? He has them. But what I wanna be specific about is the range of what he chooses to play on the guitar and the sounds he blends together with pedals & effects. Like, the guitar work will sound like surf rock for one section, then like Fleetwood Mac, then early REM or The Smiths, then like Interpol (gonna see them in Royal Oak this weekend), and some solid country and soul licks. And the variety wonderfully works with the rest of the instrumentation and her voice. Basically they just have really great arrangements and songwriting that shows off his range of skills and interests musically with the guitar without it coming across as decadent...

sunflower bean has changed so much in their short life. ive seen them three times and their style has really shifted it seems. while they have had a real late 70's power rock sound i first saw them with NO JOY and DIIV which are dream pop shoegaze bands. I went for NO JOY but enjoyed sunflower bean the best. they really killed it.

I saw them play on Sept 19th in Royal Oak, MI and I was not properly prepared to have my face rocked off as much as it was. Julia really put on a show, felt like I was watching the Runaways or something. Went in to the show for what Nick does, but came away in love with what Julia does as a singer/frontwoman!

A girl I loved with all of my heart for 3 years bought me tickets to go see this band for my birthday not too long ago. She dumped me over the phone when she was away abroad for weeks on her summer holiday after she had bought those tickets and admitted to me that she kissed some other dude. She also blocked me out of her life completely and I feel like an absolute loser and an idiot when I listen to this music. She lives down the road and I feel like being swallowed up by the world pulling me into it’s core in one swift movement grabbing me by my ankles. I also am guessing she is going to go see them with someone else Haha. Romantic love is pointless On a happy note , I messaged the guitarist of this band about his guitar playing and some tips once and he actually replied, what a legend.

Most of us have been through something similar and form a relationship like that with an artistic work, myself included. The pain you feel is rough, but there's also a really cool opportunity if you can bend your mind the right way. If you can see the experience you describe from outside the perspective of your pain, you can appreciate the emotional depth of your relationship with this band without suffering. That way, you can gain something beautiful out of the awful experience.
@jeffc48625 жыл бұрын
She goes abroad for a short time, get's sucked into the superficial novelty of a romantic tryst, feels like an amoral, guilty dolt (thus having to end contact with you, which reminds her of her shame) and for the rest of her life she'll need to deal with that. You on the other hand will evolve, have your ethics, morals, and values in tact, and will no doubt find a Goddess.

I would bring a note of some sort of dissonance here, but this time they are... plain boring. Whilst their debut CD was an exciting psychedelic flower pop gem, the newer album is just a rather bland mix of 70's pop rock without much of originality or uniqueness. This live performance shows again and with all the vivid certainty how uninspired and even sterile bland their music has become. Yes, they are young, sweet and funny. No, their music does not send any shivers down the spine this time. Rather, it is a very clean, very clear water with no taste or smell of flavor. I like their debut CD and their previous KEXP show was a thrilling ride. This time, it seems like a bored vapid stroll. Sorry, guys, but everybody has got the right to voice their opinion, mine is like I have shown above
