Xander, thanks for that quick reminder on Key/Fill definition. Always good to have that refresher. And your diagram of the full signal chain from Mac->ultrastudio->converters->ATEM Mini also great. Reinforces you need something to generate a key channel and a fill channel for your Downstream Keyer. And good luck on the re-org, re-factor and rationalizing and integration of the new Constellation. This is going to be good.

Yeah sorry about that, pretty fiddly in there. Mac Mini M1 velcro’d onto a Blackmagic Shelf next to the Ultrastudio. Then I velcro’d the mini converters onto the top of the Ultrastudio to stop them moving around, then used a small USB multi block charger thing to power them and then they were all connected to the SDI and HDMI port connectors on the panel. Rebuilt it now for the Constellation HD 2ME so a little rearranging as I put the Playoutbee and AppleTV 4K inside it too!

Hi ACC, thanks for this great video. Just found it and subscribed right away 😉. I'm interested and very curious how you build this one? Do you have an explanation or graphic for that? How do you put Mac mini with Decklink etc. together? Thanks for for your help and for this great video!!!

Hey~ yeah, I forgot to show the insides :( The Mac Mini M1 is velcro’d onto a Blackmagic Shelf next to the Ultrastudio. Then I velcro’d the mini converters onto the top of the Ultrastudio to stop them from moving around, then used a small USB multi block charger thing to power them and then they were all connected to the SDI and HDMI port connectors on the panel. Mac Mini M1 using an Apple Thunderbolt 3 cable to the Ultrastudio 4K Mini, then the Key & Fill SDIs out to the SDI to HDMI converters then short HDMI cables from the converters to the HDMI panel connectors. I've rebuilt it now for the Constellation HD 2ME so a little rearranging as I put the Playoutbee and AppleTV 4K inside it too, and just straight SDI out for Key & Fill instead of using the HDMI converters. AppleTV and PlayoutBee are still HDMI. Hope that helps!

Great explanation. Why not play the key and fill directly from the ultrastudio? If 4K is not a requirement would the Hyperdeck Studio HD plus be a good (and cheaper) alternative?
@AnotherCameraChannel2 жыл бұрын
I'm not quite sure I understand the directly part of your question. The Key & Fill is coming from the Ultrastudio, just using OBS and the plugin to set up outputs correctly. I haven't tried not using OBS and that plugin. I did hear that the older Hyperdeck Studio HD models have the SDI A & B out so you can load graphics with alpha onto SD cards and playout that way. I believe Doug Johnson talks about it in his latest 2 M/E Flightcase video. There's also the HD model of the Ultrastudio which can also do the job if you did the same workflow as me with OBS and the plugin. I went with the 4K because I envision in the future to be working with 4K resolution, just a bit of future proofing. If you want just HD then you have a couple options :)

Hi, great video. I would like to know how you use vMix with apple mini m1 and if works well. And I woyld like to know if you check some panel control for a 2 ME constallation HD, which? Thanks
@AnotherCameraChannel2 жыл бұрын
as far as I know, vMix doesn't run natively on Mac OSX so you would need to install Windows on your Mac via Bootcamp, and then you can run vMix. The official panel controllers from Blackmagic cost more than the 2ME itself 😂 so I just used 4 streamdecks now using Companion to control it!

Hey ACC, Im just about to order a custom case for my streaming gear and really admired your last build. Do you just go with one size to keep it uniform and stackable? What depth do you use & was much though put into that decision? Is there anything you wished you knew before you built it? Thanks, love your work.
@AnotherCameraChannel2 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! A Custom case is very fancy! This case is different and less deep than the larger 4K streaming case I have, but it's ok because it only holds a few things. The design of this plastic SKB case there are grooves to help with stacking and alignment. My large one is completely flat. The large case the internals are around 14" deep. So it's too shallow for holding a pull out screen, that's one regret for me. I'd have needed a 19" deep case for some manufacturer's screens. When I ordered the case I didn't actually know the depth and at the time I didn't know much about cases at all. I was lucky that the pullout shelf/draw was able to be fitted at all because it's at it's minimum mountable depth. While I'm generally happy with having an 8U case, if I had a taller case like 10U or 12U I could have a bit more space to put things in at a later date... but as it's already around 43KG, I'm not sure I'd even be able to move a bigger case around by myself. The 10U and 12U from the place aI ordered from have wheels so I couldn't put it on a desk. I do have space and power left for 4 more Hyperdecks so that's probably my limit. But yeah the weight is something I should have thought more about before buying. I'm going to get a small 4U or 6U case for audio soon, and I'll **probably** go with a style similar to the plastic SKB one. If not I may try match the big case. Haven't decided yet, but because of the antennas I'll need a much, much shallower case. So probably they won't match later down the line but thats ok. Not a huge deal breaker for me. Good luck with your new case and your build! It's an exciting time! Enjoy it!

Why not just get a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and bypass the Ultrastudio and SDI converter altogether?
@AnotherCameraChannel2 жыл бұрын
The Ultrastudio outputs 2 SDI channels for the Key & Fill and they are in sync.

Hello :) Thanks for asking! Nothing too dramatic we’re still really good friends. At the time the channel wasn’t able to support two people and I was so busy doing a lot of other work (camera and video production things) so we decided Haeppy would take full control of the channel and own it himself :) Hopefully he decides to keep uploading and keep the channel alive! He’s more active on his twitch channel ‘HaeppyHour’ 👍
