As Salamu Alaikum, Dear Respected Imam - I just wanted to take a moment (no knowing if you will ever see this post) to thank you for your spiritually and intellectually uplifting presentation. Allah (SWT) invited me to make Hajj this year. Since my return, my thirst for a deeper understanding of this Deen and its history in North America has increased exponentially. While I am very focused on increasing my knowledge of Arabic, Quran, Hadith, and how Islam in practiced within the distracting disease of cultures, you have inspired me to want to go even deeper.When I first accepted Islam (many years ago), my initial trajectory was rapid. I took Arabic classes, memorized several Surahs - the stopped. I don't mean I stopped practicing Islam, I mean that my focus on memorizing and studying NEW Surahs and their meaning in the context of the expanding Ummah, slowed down significantly (May Allah forgive me and inspire me to increase in Islamic knowledge.May Allah continue to bless you in your intellectual and spiritual pursuits as you take on the challenge and mantel of bringing our history to us. Brother, what you speak of is beautiful. But, with respect, does traditional Islam accept you? Where in the Quran (I have read it) do you find justification for the great message you are espousing? Should I list the crimes of Muhammad? Islam is asking you to pattern your life after him. How did the West Africa iteration become peaceful??

Wonderful talk, but he didn't have to talk down on Jihaad. Most of us are Muslims today because Jihadists forsook their lives to spread the reach of Islam. Labelling them as people who destroy Allah's creation is extremely unfair.
