Ma'am. I was doing concurrent auditing in a company which is located 25 km away from my hometown from Feb '2023. that was the only job which I got at that time. I had to travel for 2 and 1/2 half hours up and down. As a result, I couldn't prepare well when I was working. so I planned to quit the job in May'2023 and started preparing. What should I have actually done or what should I do now to tackle this issue?

Dilr was different... Than regular at least in slot 1, varc easy to read by options are too close

This is a very convincing and brutally honest analysis. Please people dont see any analysis about CAT 2023. I saw an analysis mentioning that the expected range for 99th percentile is 115-118. I suspect they added an extra “1” there but everything out there is nonsense. You all did good. If you beleive in god, leave it to him. If you dont beleive in god, leave it in the hands of IIM L. Right now, nothing is in our hands.

I am not that good at DILR but what i thing where we all went down was that, we had a habit of getting dilr sets solved in around 8-10 mins (atleast the easy set) but as sir said it needed minimum 15-20 mins in this year's paper. A set not getting solved or taking too much time is already a signal which makes us move towards the next and not pouring all our time in just one of it. Hard times 🥲

How was DILR deemed easier than cat 22 here ? Even if all the sets were not high difficulty, the 40 mins constraint doesn't let you solve 2 full sets, as all of them were lengthy and data heavy. I don't know if others feel the same way though. Ps - I gave Cat 22 slot 3 also. It definitely was more balanced and easier. ( of course, my perspective here )

Even I have heard this. I just thought in CAT 2022, there were some obscenely difficult tests. CAT 2023 did not have those stinkers. ON the other hand, CAT 2022 had one 'kinda approachable' set in each slot. CAT 2023 did not have that. I thought 2023 was a smideon easier overall. Very marginal call here. Could turn out that 2022 was a smidgeon easier overall.

Hey Jishnusen, The sets were lengthy no doubt, however we knew where the set was going and it was only a matter of time and how fast are we at getting to the final step in comparison to last year where some sets didn't give us that feeling and we had to stick through till the end hoping we're solving it right. One good example would be - Slot 2 of CAT 2023 had a revenue raising set - which I'm sure people grasped the idea behind the set very easily - the plonking in values and framing cases was the time taking part. You compare this with the Covid set from last year Slot 3 which was both tough and time consuming. In any case, these are different point of views and I think the actual results will decide what exactly happened, so fingers crossed! Best wishes!

That's a really good point. I myself approached the revenue set in this year's slot. By the time I was done, close to 15 minutes were left with the time ticking fast. At that moment taking on any other set Completely this year would not be impossible, but definitely difficult. Last year gave you that approachable set which can be tackled in 10 to 15 minutes. 99 percent students don't do 2 sets. So I was comparing the level of the 2 most doable sets, and not the overall 4 sets. As a realistic target for most is 2 sets, it doesn't matter if the least doable sets are moderate or untouchable. But yeah the percentiles will paint the real picture. Till then all we can do is contemplate. Thanks for your hard work and analysis sir 👍

I think this has something to do with 2hr pattern..if it's a 3 hr exam... questions can be set up with good variation in difficulty levels as they can set more questions per paper.I feel Examiners are not comfortable in giving easy questions in 2 hr paper with less number of questions as many could score them.

CAT 21 and 22 had a decent level of difficulty though not as easy as CAT 17-20. I don't think moving from a 3 hour pattern is the reason. In my opinion the reason for the difficulty this year was the 3.3L registrations vs the usual 2.5L in the previous years.

Sir slot 1 DILR was bad, lenghty sets with lot of info to digest, no typical DI sets no sitter set like previous years which could be solved in 10 mins, lots of problem in selection was observed in slot 1, after giving 30+ mocks ive had maybe 2-3 mocks only where I could not score more than 15, but in slot 1 im not crossing even 6 marks in DILR for sure

Once again you were able to touch the right chord somewhere deep. A genuine thank you for that. I am really not sure how did it happen but i messed up. I really was expecting a way better attempt this year especially after not joining any college last year at 92%ile. A bit scared for what news the result is going to bear. Have let down many people this time. Even you commented an 'all the best' once on my comment & somehow i added even you in the list of people i wanted to do break a happy news. XAT is a month away. I know i can afford another few days of feeling low and man ain't i.

That's very sad to hear - several students around this time go through feelings like how am I going to face my relatives, I've let down all the people around me. The only thing I can tell you is, there is one more shot with XAT. Most people relax after CAT and start doing serious prep for XAT only in the last week of December. Don't make that mistake, treat XAT the same way you treated CAT. Get back on track and put in the very same effort for XAT! So the inevitable finally happened yesterday !! Got an overall of 93.31 percentile with LRDI ruining everything for me at 6.42 marks and some 58 percentile ! Life's tough at times. But have chinned up for XAT. If at all, will cry all the tears after 7th Jan 🤣. Would like to thank the AMAZING Rajesh Sir & of course the team of 2IIM for all the guidance and motivation.

Slot 1&2 weren't easier. From the general review of what I heard, slot 3 was a little easier that the other 2 slots so slot 1 and 2 will benefit a bit in normalisation

Last year in every slot 1 set was solvable like direct di set simple calculation this year there's no direct set...

slot 3 was a nightmare, dilr was no way managable, set were very difficult given the time constrant, and if put in a wrong variable the whole set and time was wasted, quant left even the engineers paralysed, this is more of a test where they are looking only for highly intelligent people or maybe a scientist

Those analysis are a bunch of BS clickbaits. I saw a website mentioning 115-118 is the expected range for 99%ile. 38-40 questions with 100% accuracy is impossible, even for the qpaper setter, given the 120 min time limit. So just chill. As sir said 99%ile could be anywhere between 40-100.

Slot 2 has only one easy set that of number 1 to 9. The lucky ones chose that set .

Hey Vaibhav, depends on multiple factors - can you afford the time and energy to sit tight for 1.5 years more before you enter a B school? If yes, then definitely! Although, I'd recommend let the results decide.
