It's my pleasure. Glad you got some value out of it.

This deal is good and well, but it’s for life, weather the Rugby is doing well or not. They want their cut.
@frontrowrugby8 күн бұрын
Exactly and that is why this can't just be something they push through. It has to be carefully considered and a good deal for everyone.

Some hard hitting comments on Mark Alexander and Riaan Oberholzer but not unwarranted. In the book Beast written by Andy Capostagno Regan Hoskins is quoted as saying that Alexander has a better relationship with the Government than he did because he became a Member of the ANC. As for Oberholzer he signed off on Kamp Staaldraad!

Cheers Michael. I've not yet had the chance to read Beast, but that's very interesting and I'm not surprised at all! I really want to believe that Oberholzer has learnt from his mistakes - he was a young administrator in those days, you might even say too young for that position, but who knows for sure?
@michaelcrichton776310 күн бұрын
@frontrowrugby thanks. Maybe he was too young during that period. Bear in mind he was advantaged by being Louis Luyts son in law. Hopefully he has learnt from his lessons in the past. Some might say, had his chance, give someone else a turn. Sometimes a second coming can work wonders. Hopefully his appointment was an open application process and he was genuinely the best person for the job and SA Rugby continues to go from strength to strength

For sure. Look I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but there are lots of dark clouds and question marks! And yes, there are many examples of people in all walks of life failing at first but then making a success of things when they get a second chance. Who knows if that will be the case here?

@frontrowrugby Possibly let's hope for the best. Hopefully we have the opposite to what happened to Oz with Eddie Jones

If it has to happen then rather Rupert, but do we really need this? Are we not successful enough
@frontrowrugby9 күн бұрын
I would also take Rupert over the yanks. So yes, we may very well be successful but we're not profitable. Rugby is in trouble all over the world when it comes to money so sooner or later I think private equity is going to come into play.

With the for vision that something is about the break in the sport. And posibly in USA, might the American deal and marketing team not be best to be in bed with, to help Springboks lead in this change about to follow?
@frontrowrugby10 күн бұрын
Yes, there are certainly pros and cons. I think what's key is that whatever deal we accept, it still needs to be good for us as well as the Americans. It's vital that we make a wise decision.

Saru officials want the BIG COMMISSIONS NO DOUBT, dont give a shit that its OUR TEAM. AB'S DID A DEAL, IT WAS A FLOP, SPENT ALL TJE MONEY AND NOW HAVE TO GIVE THESE INVESTERS MONEY YEARLY. THEY ARE WORSE IFF. DID IT IN SOCCER IN EUROPE, SAME STORY. THEY WANT TO MAKE MONEY OFF THE NACK OF BOKS. Leave it alone Rugby must stay in DA
@frontrowrugby9 күн бұрын
These deals always involve commissions and okay, fine, that's how it works but it really just felt like an investment group came along, made an offer and SARU jumped. Surely these things need to be negotiated? Interestingly it has now come out that the Americans have altered their terms to make it more favourable to us. Why didn' that happen previously? That tells me this thing was not negotiated. Amateurs running a professional sport, I tell you!
