"Your brother is dependable. When I give him an order, I know he won't question it!" This is a fantastic line. "Dependable" makes you expect him to say "I know he'll accomplish it" or something similar. Yet instead of valuing Dipper's competence, Stanford prioritizes his nephew's blind loyalty.

I do like it too, but I think it’s slightly out of character. Dipper questions ford in that one scene where he puts the mind reading machine on his head and tries to erase his mind, then Ford replies with something like (sorry i don’t remember the exact line) but praising Dipper for questioning everything. THIS. THIS IS WHAT WAS MISSING FROM FORD. Ford needs so much more screentime than just being the author for 5 more episodes. I absolutely LOVED this storyboard. This entire episode absolutely slaps, but I think my favorite part about it is the implications and meaning behind the final scene. Grunkle Ford took Mabel and co. to his lab and erased their memories because, despite the day’s adventures screaming at him to reconsider, he still abides by his old code: “trust no one.” As a result, the three of them forgot about the rift, but the important part is that MABEL forgot about the rift. Fast-forward to the episode “Dipper and Mabel vs the Future,” and you see the result of this error: Mabel, not knowing any better, gives the rift to Bill and accidentally initiates Weirdmageddon. Yes, Mabel was at fault for giving away something that rightfully belongs to her brother. Yes, it was selfish of her to accept the offer to bend time itself for “just a little more summer.” But if she had known-or in this case, remembered-what the rift truly was, then this whole thing could have been prevented. If Ford had had a little more trust, Bill would have never been able to cross worlds, bring utter chaos to Gravity Falls, and force Ford to erase his brother’s memory. Phenomenal work from everyone involved. Thanks for giving the community one last episode.
@hanabishaven Жыл бұрын

The fact that ford couldn't let go of his "Don't trust anyone" code could have given the scene where mabel was tricked by bill wayyy more depth because in this case weirdmaggedon would have been truly made possible because of ford as bill had said, ford not trusting mabel to help protect the rift in the end would have caused her to have her guard lowered enough to give bill/blandon the rift and in the end of the season where he had to erase stan's memories to get rid of bill would have also had a bigger punch because imagine the pain he would feel while aiming the memory gun at stan, he'd reflect on how pretty much everything that had happened was his fault, Trusting bill, not trusting fiddleford, constantly fighting stanley especially when it mattered most at the banishing spell scene and choosing to not trust mabel after she had helped him and now he's going to use the memory gun on a member of his family again but this time he's doing it out of trust in stan's plan to get rid of bill. The irony it would have brought to the finale man.😊

This is like comparable to be one of the best episodes of the actual show. It sets it up perfectly to how Ford would be the cause of why Mable thinks the rift is insignificant and gives it to Blendin Bill (Blendill, Billendin, Blebilldon?). Edit: Plus it works perfectly with “The Last Mabelcorn” by adding more suspense to when Dipper finds Ford’s Bill shrines and points the memory gun at him repeating “Trust No One”. With this added it feels like he could have actually done something to Dipper.

It’s inherently derivative. But what you have here is an incredible show filtered through an incredibly talented creative lens. This episode is so enjoyable. Not only because it’s excellent, not only because it fits so cleanly into the canon. @Ghost-jp5qnАй бұрын
Wow this is just incredible. The end had me going insane, but I still love it. It's interesting because it shows Ford's character developing, and trying to trust people / be less paranoid, but actually failing. That's a much more realistic portrayal of how people develop. At the same time, it doesn't show Ford's actions as justified. Yes, he clearly feels guilty over erasing their minds, and is struggling with whether or not to do so, but it's still HIS mistake. And honestly, it makes a lot of sense considering what he's been through, ESPECIALLY after the revelations from the Book of Bill. Everyone he's ever let get close to him (Stan, Fiddleford, Bill) betrayed him in some way or another- of course he's got these deeply entrenched trust issues. But at the same time, this choice of ending allows this story to still make sense within canon. It's an incredible piece of writing to make it both true to canon and to enrich the character's development like this.

The only weird moment of the episode 16:24. Is really out of character that ford speaks of dipper as a tool rather than a symbol of proudness and self-reflection to ford, and the response doesn’t feel that hurtful to Mabel and the others since it focus more on dipper “obedience” rather than on Mabel’s “flaws” as factors for a plan to succeed or fail. Ford’s words should have been changed to praise dipper’s ingenuity and depicts Mabel’s clumsiness and silliness as factors that would make any plan fail for her, something that would make a lot more sense and it would had been a really hurtful comment to Mabel, as it was intended. It would have been something so simple as changing the adjectives on which ford describes dipper and due to that ford can trust that dipper would never fail a mission or plan, unlike Mabel.
@ItsDesca Жыл бұрын
While everything here is amazing, I’m absolutely blown away by how well this episode develops characters that didn’t get as much screen time as they deserved. Having an entire episode focusing on Mabel and Fords relationship is something that was SO extremely needed in the show, it’s insane. Everyone’s reactions feel so genuine and no one is forgiving too quickly (“I’m only putting this on because I’m cold!” had me ROLLING), but simultaneously give Ford a chance to grow as a person and showing how trusting Mabel really is, and how that blind trust can sometimes be a detriment as well is amazing. Not to mention the GENIUS of the ending, not only does it fit perfectly with Ford’s character, but it makes it possible for this episode to actually be canon in the show as Mabel & co don’t remember having seen the bunker a second time! My only criticism (a very small one) is that I would have liked to see more of the B plot with Stan and Dipper, I feel like this episode only slightly scratched the surface with their relationship, but honestly you did better than the actual show did on that one so I’m definitely not complaining. Incredible animation, astounding voice acting (DIPPERS ACTOR WAS LITERALLY INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM JASON RITTER), great pacing, great use of the score, just all around, so professionally produced you could tell me this is a lost episode and I’d believe you in a heartbeat. Seeing that intro roll again without knowing what the episode was going to contain? Man, that hit hard. Absolutely incredible job to EVERYONE (yes I mean EVERYONE) who worked on this!!!

This genuinely brought me back, it feels so authentic and in line with the actual show. It also makes the moment when Mabel finds the rift in the backpack in "Dipper & Mabel vs the future" all the more tragic, because had she known what the rift was, she would have never had given it to bill or Blendin, so really ford did cause weirdmagedon due to his inability to trust. Wow.

Right?? I would've been screaming if this actually happened cause that episode would've been much more tragic
@burgerburger7975 Жыл бұрын
Even without this episode, Ford's inability to trust even his own family was the root cause for Weirdmagedon anyway. Mabel never knew what the rift was because Ford always kept his distance around her and kept her in the dark about everything going on in a way he didn't do with Dipper. She never realised until the very end at the price of her freedom, when she was at her most vulnerable and desperate state. And that's just with the RIFT, nevermind all the other things he did leading up to that point. But yeah, I do agree that if this were an actual episode it would've been so much clearer to see.
@angelahearn-carter5773 Жыл бұрын
SPOILER ALERT The realization that because ford didnt trust mabel with the knowledge of the rift she ended up giving it to bill and causing weirdmageddon is a really awesome detail, if ford had just trusted mabel then the rift would've never broken, all he had to do was trust but he couldn't do it with mabel, he only trusted dipper and told him about the rift when if he let mabel know she would've never given it to bill.
