Gabby Bernstein's new book, "Happy Days: A Guided Path from Trauma to Profound Freedom and Inner Peace." In it she talks about that before her memories of being sexually abused as a child resurfaced and she was able to do the healing work- she had the need to control, etc. -- There are so many reasons why people are the way they are, or do the things that they do until they address it. Gabby is very honest about all of that. . . . We, A L L, have things about ourselves to become aware of and heal. >>> Let's try some compassion and grace. We all need it!!! Thanks, Sabrina

I bet Gabby never had her electricity or gas cut off as a kid. Never had to access a food bank. Or have the Salvation Army deliver Christmas presents to her house because her parents could barely get by. That was my life, amongst many other traumatic experiences. The lack of social awareness to role play as less fortunate really proves that she has no idea what it’s like. These people make me sick. Just because you weren’t rich doesn’t mean you were poor.

Exactly. Having financial struggles while trying to 'keep up with the joneses' in a highly affluent and expensive part of the city is VASTLY different from barely managing to stay alive and housed while living as cheaply as possible.

Biggest eye roll for the way she spoke about manifesting her baby. Tell that to all the women who didn’t end up with a baby. Did we not manifest enough? Is there something wrong with us that we don’t deserve a baby? Ahhh so angry.. For anyone struggling - having or not having a baby is a compete lottery, you did not do anything to deserve or not deserve anything, you didn’t do anything wrong, you didn’t think or feel wrong. Some things just happen, that’s all. And you are great wether you have a baby or not.

I was obsessed with Gabby from 2012-2017...I literally paid for almost every product she came out with at that time including her Masterclass. There are so many desperate people who just want to feel better/like they have control and she takes advantage of that. PLEASE make more content about her. There is almost NO criticism of her on the internet.

Fun fact: Stephen King cannot remember writing Cujo because he was on a coke binge when he wrote it. Gabbie Bernstein: I had a coke addiction when I was 25, but I felt my spirit guide Peter tell me what to write. Huh… it’s uncanny how similar these two stories are.
@mikalin9286

Stephen King has admitted to doing so many substances while writing that he doesn’t remember writing entire books, yes. However has he ever called himself a naturalist, pretended to not know how to pick up a prescription and then tried to give life advice? We may never know. // he did actually talk quite a bit in his book on writing about his life, he was always involved in writing to some extent- then the drugs happened- then he did give some life advice and it was mostly- don’t do drugs, anything you can do well high is worth doing sober basically. Out of the two King seems to have the better grip on reality.

I've also never seen someone who is in recovery and has gone through the 12-step program quite like this. They are some of the most amazing individuals I've encountered. They live lives of service without seeking attention from others. Their service is done from the heart and is unconditional. It's a beautiful thing. This is just bizarre. I'm not a certain why no one calls her out on the BS it's crazy.

The infertility thing makes me so mad. I went through 2 years and $16,000 USD to get pregnant and I made it out incredibly cheap. You can't manifest a baby by taking care of yourself. "Mothering yourself" won't change biology. This hurts so many people. There are so many times I thought the universe was punishing me. One of the lowest point was right after Trump won in 2016 and two of my conservative friends got pregnant. I said to myself "maybe if I voted Trump, I would be pregnant now too" as if those things are at all related.

It made me pissed off, too. I, personally, didn't have issues getting pregnant (though I was supposed to); I did have issues keeping the pregnancy, however. I had to have shots every few weeks to make sure my body didn't reject the pregnancy because it didn't recognize it as a normal, natural process. Was pregnant four times; have two children. And I hated being pregnant, myself, but that's a different issue. I have a SIL who took 12 years to get pregnant. They (her and my BIL - my husband's brother) tried for so long, and many different ways. She'd had several rounds of IVF - all being fruitless. They'd actually given up after 12 years and decided to adopt so they were searching for a baby to adopt when she very unexpectedly - FINALLY! - got pregnant. It was considered high risk so they did everything possible to keep her safe and they finally had their baby girl last year! Again - IT TOOK 12 YEARS! AND they'd finally given up. I'm thrilled for them that they finally have what they want. I hope you managed to have your baby. And I'm terribly sorry for all of those who want to, but can't. I had to have a hysterectomy at 27 because of all of the issues that it was causing, and it actually made me feel rather guilty, knowing I was getting rid of that ability... even though, although I got pregnant easily, keeping the pregnancies healthy was a completely different idea and one that we failed at a couple times. It made me feel a bit guilty, knowing that I was getting rid of something that gave me two kids while my SIL simply couldn't get pregnant, no matter how much she tried. And the fact that I ABSOLUTELY DESPISED being pregnant while she couldn't even get so made me feel even more guilty, lol.

I have a masters in counseling and have almost completed my PhD in Psychology. All of my personal pain hates her story. All of my professional experience hates her story. It is so unhealthy to give a "fix it all" solution through "spirituality." It is so upsetting to see all of this and read all of her stuff. Her descriptions of spiritual channeling sound like mania. Compulsively writing down new ideas nonstop, voices, grandiosity. Not trying to armchair diagnose her, but regardless of what she was actually doing in those times (if any of it is even true), if she were to give this message to people who do experience mania, that could be really harmful. It's hard enough for people in manic states to accept that what they are feeling is a disorder. Don't tell them they are channeling spirits!

EMDR is done by LICENSED therapist who got the official EMDR cert. And widely known it does not work for many people! (Myself and my brother tried it with absolutely 0 results lol) I agree that I think Gabby thinks she’s a therapist. I’ve only read a bit of her new book but she writes as if she is a therapist (which she never used to before).

Most of the people that are responding to this video are not familiar with Gabby’s books. I read all her books and attended her seminar (which was reasonably priced, by the way). I think that you need to judge her if you’re familiar with her work and teachings. Gabby is the only spiritual advisor that is practical. All the other spiritual advisors give abstract advice. I know because I read all the spiritual books out there. Gabby is the only one that went to the root of my problem. These type of videos concern me greatly!! It is cyber bullying. Do you recognize that Gabby Bernstein is a real person? She has emotions just like everyone here. Do you know how many people committed suicide due to cyber bullying? Was that necessary? These clippings are taken completely out of context. They are just strung together for the purpose of attracting attention. The KZbin creators get paid for this content. Gabby clearly doesn’t need the money and not because she married a rich husband. She was rich on her own merits, prior to meeting her husband. I know because I attended her seminar, was about 4 feet away from her and listened carefully. The Community guidelines say that we need to be respectful! Who’s respectful of Gabby? This hateful display is outrageous!

You hone in on some major weaknesses--some that she has acknowledged--and you give examples. I want to say that she has inspired me to be braver about my own spiritual writing and speaking. She is skilled in expressing some pretty complex theology in clear, understandable language. And her podcasts now offer a good disclaimer at the start. Thank you for making sure we don't put each other on 'Guru 'pedestals!

As a somatic (body oriented) therapist, I can clarify a bit Gabby's take on therapy. EMDR, which is a therapy that involves eye movement, is very popular with mental health / cognitive therapists because it ca be quite effective and it gives them the edge of a somatic / neurobiological approach without having to do a lot of training. However it's also considered a "harsher" approach than a lot of other body oriented modalities, and I've had clients who tired it and were quite triggered by it. In terms of IFS (Internal Family Systems), it's a great approach (I'm training in it at the moment) and isn't just for mental health therapists but also for other therapists and healing professionals. Her saying that she is "trained" can mean a variety of things. It can mean a person took a seminar that covers the basics of this approach, or it can mean that they went through the official training and got certified (this process takes a couple of years). I looked her up on the IFS Directory as a certified provider and she isn't listed there, for what it's worth. IFS can be incredibly effective as an adjunct therapy approach and it teaches a client an excellent skill set when it comes to recognizing, relating to, and working with their emotional parts. In terms of her telling a woman that she has insecure attachment - that's a load of bullshit because one has to get assessed for this, and a therapist would have more than one session to suggest to a client what type of attachment style they may have. Learning to work with anxiety can take a while, and it's helpful to explore both a cognitive / mental health approach including medication, combined with neurobiological approaches like somatic therapy to teach the person nervous system regulation, recognizing and working with triggers, etc. To summarize, I think that saying that "everyone" should try this or a therapy will work for everyone is incredibly irresponsible. Sure, healing professionals get very passionate about the modalities they trained in, but if any of them tells you that this is the only thing that can help or the absolute best thing out there, please reconsider working with them. The way Gabby tosses this information around is completely inappropriate.

How can she have no memories of her childhood yet remember that she grew up poor or was raised to use homeopathic remedies? Could it be that it’s all BS and she had a perfectly idyllic childhood, but if she was to mention that she had a stable childhood with a lot of privilege and now she’s even richer that no one would buy her crap?

I never thought her story about addiction added up. I found her when I was going through a struggle with alcohol and I felt like she jumped on the addiction bandwagon. I always found her addiction story unrelatable and it’s insulting that she sells herself as a recovering addict. Her story is someone who started drinking a couple too many glasses of wine and just quit…. Maybe she went to a darker place with her alcoholism and just doesn’t go into it and if that is it, I wish she’d open up more because it just comes off as exploitative to those who struggle with addiction.

At 12:49 she says she had a really bad coke addiction by age 25. Idk where that talk is from, but I can imagine working PR in NYC starting as a bottle girl at her cousin club could definitely lead to addictive behaviors. She’s definitely addicted to “grind” culture. I’m sorry you were looking for genuine connection during a hard point and found someone so seemly unhelpful speaking like she is all knowing about something you struggle with. I hope you’re doing well, you deserve all the support!

Your intuition is right I think. I'm recovering from alcoholisn and drug addiction myself. And you can tell if someone is talking shit about addiction, or exaggerating. For instance I had a drug counselor who wasn't an addict and even though she tried hard and studied addiction : she was the worst addiction counsellor I ever encountered. Because if you get it, you get it. There's no in between.

My biggest thing is ALWAYS that they promise perfection in every one of their modalities, only to then have a new modality next month, year, cycle and so on. There's always the 'relatable' problem, the 'this is how I fixed it' and the 'this is my perfect life now!' followed by the sales pitch. Then in a few months, there's another dark period, another new solution and another program. Because the reality is, people want a FULL solution. People don't want 'better' lives where we learn to manage and navigate - they want to be told that heaven is possible on earth. Then we want to be sold this heaven from someone who was 'just like us' so that we can feel like our problems are solve-able. This is why the influencer currency isn't a degree or a qualification, but it's in their personal story. We want to connect EMOTIONALLY and they use that in their marketing. From here, we can't ever have someone who ACTUALLY reaches the perfection they claim to have reached - because then what would they sell? Our economy demands that we are CONSTANTLY being given the 'new thing', the latest and greatest - and again, due to the fact that nothing that is sold can EVER be a full answer, we are going to get to a place where what we bought from the influencer before stops working and we look for something new. This is where they come in with the new relatable bottom and the new fix all. They have to keep selling a quick fix that does it all, over and over again, in order to stay relevant and to keep making money. And rather than us questioning, we go along with it, because the narrative is always so powerful and fills us with hope. Throw in that we are conditioned to blame ourselves when a tool doesn't work and you have the influencer cycle. Gabby has had so many 'bottoms' that led to the PERFECT solution I can't even count them. One for every book so far. Yet we still buy and believe because in real reality, there's only progress and that makes us feel hopeless or like we can't ever be genuinely better. We need realistic people selling realistic steps - but this isn't flashy or sexy and thus it's really hard to make money doing that. The catch 22 of the influencer spiral.

2:00- 2 minutes into this video, and I already have something to say. Someone says that they don't remember their childhood but they are a guru?? I understand that there are biological things that can happen that can affect memory and things that our brain tries to protect us from. Someone who hasn't worked through that should NOT be giving advice to other people. And if she claims that she doesn't remember her childhood for a non-clinical reason, I find that off-putting and highly unlikely. Also, if she doesn't remember her childhood, how does she knew that she grew up with financial instability? If barely remembers high school, how does she know that she has an 8th grade literary education? I don't want to hear any more from this person. There's just no benefit to me.

Some have hyper abilities within the 5. everything is connected, not separate. Once you die and come back you have a greater understanding of this. I agree with so many of your points except for her helping the suicidal recovering addict. I don't think she should have shared it on her podcast, but as a recovering alcoholic it's very common in the community for us to reach out and help each other. While therapy and everything is great, it's the sense of community and being able to reach out to anyone at any time about anything that makes AA or other 12 step programs so successful. Hell, I've been suicidal after a relapse and needed my sponsor to help me calm down and she did exactly what Gabbie did- guide me to treatment and talk me off the ledge. Talking to another addict or alcoholic is so key because we feel like the other person actually gets it and truly cares. Although AA was a little too cult-like for me, it got me through my first few years and gave me so many great tools I use today to stay sober. I think she did exactly what she was taught in the program, and she did a good thing, except sharing another addict's experience
