i just fixed one of these laptops today. After i removed the plastic rivets. I placed the new keyboard in. And then got a soldering iron and melted the little bits of remaining plastic. Then for good measure i got a hot glue gun and glued the parts where the plastic was broken. working fine for me.

Asus sure went out of it's way to make something as simple as changing the keyboard this difficult. PS: Thanks for the video.

Had to change one like this also.. A real pain in the 455 .. Why make it simple when we can make it stupid? ... I wonder what salaries these guys must be getting to come up with these brilliant ideas... anyway I've added some back tape just to hold the keyboard wile putting it back, and after assembling it's OK, not loose nor anything. but yeah .. they managed to make a 5min task into a 2 hours one.. thank you engineers...... (The video did help. Thank you!)

I did this on my Asus F550L laptop. This video is compatible with that model. The inner layout is basically the same.

How to replace a keyboard on Asus laptop: buy the full set (keyboard + palmrest). Keyboard alone is usually 15 euros, full set is 30 euros. If lucky, you find the right keyboard with preferred language. If you cant find one matching, just take the keys from old and replace on the new keyboard, one by one. #done

Dear How-FixIt! This video help me a lot cause i want to replace my X450's keyboard, but i don't know what shall i do after I cut all of that tiny white things (maybe they are glue, idk). Do you have any idea what could i use after I replace the keyboard? Thx for the apply!

I don't know how the plastic with keyboard came off so smoothly on the video.. i tried to get it off on my Asus but it is attached so hard i feeled like i will bent the plastic faster than get it off....

+Alana Elza sorry but I think removing keyboard won't help you to repair your button. And if you remove keyboard it will be difficult to install it

Alana Elza you can replace it, but as I said it will be difficult to fix in laptop new keyboard. The things when you remove the old keyboard you must remove plastik attachments, so when you will install new keyboard you need to make another attachments or keyboard won't be fixed in laptop. I used tiny pieces of plastic that i melted on place of old attachments.

AvenueFifth I fix it using little pieces of plastic that i melted on the places of cutted pieces

+How-FixIT For anyone wondering : I did change my keyboard using this method. It is a bitch to remove, but doable as shown in the video. Instead of melting plastics, i used plastic epoxy and it holds without an issue, but the keybaord is a bit more sinked into the frame than it was before. To avoid that you should make sure the keyboard is pushed all the way done before glueing and hold it down while it solidify, wich I failed to do properly. Anyway, doable, but fuck asus for making it so hard to change a keybaord.

I have replaced my K555U's keyboard and it is loose now. How did you applied epoxy? Just use it like as normal glue on those little plastics?

+Refat Dagly ну я использовал мелкие кусочки пластмассы и паялку на минимальной температуре, очень геморно но в итоге получалось вроде достаточно крепео

Вот уж не думала, что клаву поменять так сложно... Я даже не знала, что эта пленка защитная снимается. Теперь знаю. Буду пробовать почистить клаву изнутри, а то там целый запас пищевой и не только :) Наверное, в моем ноуте так же :)

Татьяна Гриценко не рекомендовал бы снимать клавиатуру что бы почистить, овчинка выделки не стоит, если нужно поменять - тогда конечно стоит. На счет пистолета - думаю если найдете удачные места для склеивания получится, но я сам не пробовал.

How-FixIT Я имела в виду, что чтобы именно поменять клавиатуру, нужно срезать эти пластмассовые заклепки, а чтобы прикрепить обратно, делать как Вы - использовать кусочки пластмассы и расплавлять их на местах бывших заклепок. В Вашем видео я увидела, что пленка (как я читала - она защищает плату от попадания влаги через клавиатуру) можно снять, и почистить под ней. Просто мне принесли ноут, там кнопки залипают, то есть при нажатии на одну кнопку печатаются сразу две смежные буквы. И вот под этой пленкой куча всякого мусора. Снимать пленку я как-то побоялась, но в Вашем видео вижу, что можно это сделать. Я права?

Новый 10 ШТ. AWM 20624 80C 60 В ФФК FPC Гибкий Кабель 0.5 мм шаг 12 Pin длина 200 ММ цена 468р -на али!точного совпадения не нашел,пришлось лезвием отрезать лишние контакты,и обязательно прозванивать нужно после этого,иначе коротнет) .(E315127 а вот это кажется его марка)
