VIA and QMK are community based resources for keymapping custom keyboards. Not designed by Keychron. I'd recommend trying QMK Toolbox and QMK configuator (web based configurator). It's made for the enthusiast crowd and isn't very beginner friendly but it sure beats compiling the the data by hand. VIA lets you change the keymap without having to reflash the keyboard but I've used QMK exclusively so far with only user errors along the way. As a side note for QMK configuator, the 1st/2nd layers of the keymap is dedicated for mac and 3rd/4th layers are for windows. I'd recommend a wrist rest if you don't float your wrists above the desk. I float my hands so it doesn't cause me any issue but I've tried typing on it without lifting my wrists and it painful after a short while.

The coiled cable only comes with the Q1 that doesn't have the dial knob

Good to know. Thanks man.

does it still come with it now?

@@batmansteel778 Sorry don't know. I can say that the coiled cable that comes with the OG Q1 is very basic, you can get the same quality on Aliexpress without destroying your wallet

you know the flex that you pointed out in the keyboard is actually preferred by many enthusiasts. also, that's one purpose of the double gasket mount.

Yeah and it's not noticeable with normal typing. It's only when you starting forcing the keys down dramatically that the whole board starts to move. Otherwise normal typing is very comfortable. KZbin reviewers always turn this into a negative and I don't know why.

How do Ducky keycaps look when you put them on Keychron? Does it shine through well?

I agree that reaching up for the f row can get tiring. I play games in which I've binded all of the f row to my buttons. I do find it a little odd that you mentioned that you don't have to do that for a 60/65% keyboard which lacks the f row entirely. Of course you won't be reaching up there!

Yes my mistake. I meant that I can reach the entire keyboard. I do love this keyboard though. Amazing build quality. Just a few years back I gave up on the company due to poor QC but they have improved a lot.

@@TruthReviews 100% agree! I refused to buy one of their keyboards but I’m wishing I got that instead of my gmmk pro.

I love the Apple keyboard. It’s an excellent keyboard, but it’s a different kind obviously. Better for working on zoom calls or at nights, for erfonomics, and to bring with you. But man I love mechanical keyboards so I got this Keychron too.

I only wish the Apple keyboard had a backlight.

When you realize those of us deep in the custom mech hobby have actual brass weights on the bottom of our boards, this keyboard is actually pretty light. Also, because the Q1 is fully customizable, you could actually make it sound and feel even better with a little work.
