I absolutely love mine, but you're exactly right. This is not a machine for multiple people. It's a one-person espresso maker -- period. If you have that in mind going in, I can't imagine being anything other than extremely pleased with this machine.

Glad you didn’t give up on the first try and that you enjoyed the journey. Espresso is very finicky (and unforgiving). The number one investment anyone will recommend is a burr grinder, not for this machine only, but espresso making in general. It’s almost as important as the beans themselves :) You’re right this machine is not meant for entertaining a group of people, however once you get used to the workflow you can try warming your water while you prep your portafilter which will shorten your overall brew time to serve a second shot quicker :) congrats on your purchase!

Personally, I don't think the 9barista is overpriced. There are folks who spend hundreds and even a few thousand on high-end machines chasing their perfect espresso. They have pride in their craft. That's why this little machine has been such a success. It's highly portable and can deliver high-quality espresso. Yes, it takes a bit of practice to get the feel for your workflow. But that's always part of the experience. No, it's not meant for high-speed production, but it's perfect for myself being single and having small counter space. I live full-time in my 2018 850 Lance truck camper. How many folks have a cabinet full of appliances that got abandoned, especially coffee machines? This little device has nothing to break or made in China crap. Plus, it takes very little space. So, it does have its attributes. Add up the amount of money you spend at your local coffee house. All of a sudden, this little machine pays for itself rather quickly.

I do really miss using the machine. I often have coffee with my wife and parents who live close by so it’s just not practical for us but it is the only machine I ever used that I actually miss and wish I discovered it in my single days. Fun machine. Hope it does you good for years as the build quality is second to none.

This machine generates 9 bars of pressure and you need specialized coffee, a very good grinder, consistent tamping, and good water (many people ignore this part). It can pull a great shot, but you can't sacrifice anything I listed above.

When it comes to espresso, grind quality is everything. Blade "grinders" are worthless for anything but French Press and cold brew. They just can't produce the constantly even grind that is needed. Whatever coffee maker you're using in the future, you've done yourself a huge favour in buying a better grinder.

You bring up excellent points. I too like to share coffee with my wife in the morning and can't see the time and effort it would take to make both of us one. I also have on occasion, like you, have people come over. Hopefully if the founder reads this he can make a triple shot version or even a double. Would be nice.

Ok so if you like good coffee and also the process of making it but don't want to wait for so long (understandable), why don't you get yourself a "normal" espresso machine? Once they are heated up you can usually make one espresso after another (of fill two cups at once). I do not believe that this costs a lot more (all combined - machine, energy, coffee) compared to these capsules but the coffee will just be way better. You can get a good entry level machine for the same price as a 9barista, e.g. a Gaggia Classic Pro. Just keep the new coffee grinder ofc.

It’s not the machine, or your beans. It’s your grinder. You need to get a grinder at about the same price as the machine. People often try to save on the grinder, get a bad result then blame the machine. You can make good coffee on a bad machine with a good grinder but you can’t do the opposite. For good espresso, you must have a good grinder.

still your coffee grinder is not good. I have the 9barista for 2 years. It was too expensive for my budget but i love coffee and i want it perfect. So i bought it and i invested 400 more euros on a good coffee grinder. I didn't wanted to mess with cheap grinders and then not enjoy my coffee machine and to have to invest again more money on a better grinder. The crema first of all has to do with the quality of the beans and then of the grinding machine quality.

My worry is , if someone want to drink coffe at the same time with me,taking about the design and ingenious design ain’t going to be enough I love caffè as well ,I like to drink caffe with people and with. The 9barista I will be spending a great deal of time cleaning and drying it to prepare the next shot .. Not to mention the price that’s going for there are lot good choices out there ..

It’s related to the boiler design. Brass is a better conductor of heat as compared to stainless steel (even upto 15 times better depending on composition) hence it will heat faster. Also, it has lower strength as compared to stainless steel and has a lower melting point as compared to stainless steel. Both these properties can be used to design the boiler in such a way that in the worst case scenario that all the steam outlets are blocked (very very low likelihood of something like this happening), brass can puncture and release the steam while stainless steel is more likely to burst.

@@TruthReviews Damn it. Talking home made coffee, I started with a french press, bought ground coffee, was okay but i felt it wont be enough to replace the local coffee shop. Then I bought a hand grinder to have coffee freshly ground, I think the most important improvement, regardless of how you brew, still...didn't cut it. Now that I had the hand burr grinder I moved on to a mocha pot for more kick from the coffee....too bitter and other aromas that dont do it for me. And now...im looking at this one. But at 360 quid....I donno...

@@suffocated if you’re unsure they offer a 30 day trial. You can use it and return it. I would say keep in min return is at own cost. Approx £12. Also it takes many attempts to get it right. If you’re making one cup a morning that’s fine but if there is more than one of you you might want to look elsewhere.

@@TruthReviews Yea I've noted that from your clip, you won't make a business making-selling coffee with this, I just what to make that one cup of coffee/day for myself. Guests and the S/O will have to settle for the french press results or be pointed to the nearest coffee shop if they're not happy with what they're getting :D. Might give it a try.
