From what I've seen, Keychron is charging $30 for shipping across North America which makes the Q1 barebones actually cost $180 where as the GMMK pro ships free in the US for comparison. On the later version of the q1 it comes with two layers of foam in the case, I recommend taking out the thinner of the two which is adhered to the case and tape modding the pcb. Although I haven't tried it yet, I could also imagine the PE foam mod being a nice addition. That being said it might cut down on some of the springiness since it would increase the size of the pcb+plate assembly.

So I didn't think that the GMMK Pro was going to get a competitor this early. In fact, the Q1 is very game changing. The first consumer market keyboard that actually has flex with those thick gaskets, stabilizers made by a respected brand, VIA and QMK out of the box. This thing is also much cheaper than the GMMK Pro with keycaps and decent switches. Glorious really needs to step up their game. I really liked how you showed the paper-thin case dampening foam on the lower case and did the finger flick to show off how pingy it is. But this got me thinking... have you ever tried using a moongel damper pad to mod a keyboard? A moongel is typically used in live drum setups to absorb excess resonance and deaden certain sounds. I got the idea to perhaps use it here because I've actually put a moongel on a cymbal before and it worked pretty well to control the drummer's overaggression. It's very cheap (

Hey Scott! Just wanted to say that you and and Alexotos usually have the best sounding modded keyboard for my personal preference. So I'm always looking forward to your videos. I'm kinda interested in the Q1 despite not being a massive fan of 75%. At this point, we know that it has a much better gasket implementation than the gmmk pro. But was wondering typing feel wise, how does it compare to other higher end keyboards. Is it one of the flexiest and softest you've felt or do they feel much better than this? I'm not sure if I should get this or just save up for boards with better typing feel.
@Keybored3 жыл бұрын
I would say straight feel and sound, the Q1 can be up there with even the "high end." But I think where the high end starts to pull ahead is they're much better out of the box, and overall, the construction, the heft and finishing is top notch. I think as the hobby moves forward, the basic performance will start to get better and better, and the finish and the more detailed bits will be what separates the top and mid and low

1:40 sounds like pretty much any board with tape and PE switch foam. Not a bad thing necessarily, but those two mods really do remove any character from a board (assuming that's what you ultimately ended up doing to it).

I guess you'll find out soon!
@ightimmaheadout2903 жыл бұрын
definitely pe foam
@user-kz9rz8ui1c3 жыл бұрын
@@ightimmaheadout290 idk it doesnt really sound like PE foam. And if you want another example of a great sounding Q1, the the alexotos q1 sounds amazing without the implementation of classical PE foam (it is used, just not on the pcb). The board here doesn't have the marbly sound i uusually associate with the mod, although I could be capping.

Damn okay! Best soundtest I've heard so far (the rest were hollow and kind of garbage sounding) thanks for restoring hope!

The lack of an End key on the side is a deal breaker. The GMMK Pro gets my vote. Keychron got so close to having my money. Alas :(

omfg the intro is exactly why i use a keychron

refreshing this everyday waiting to see what mods are used.
@Keybored3 жыл бұрын
haha, I will have it out for you guys in the next few weeks! It was a combination of mods and some weird things I did to take care of some of the challenges with the design. But one thing I can say is that all of the flex was kept, and the sound improved drastically and all the hollow ping went away... so mission accomplished!

Not gonna lie your intro is better than the Lincoln commercial. What car? Steering wheel looks almost like the ones in my audi c7s but my seat belts aren't red even the s6 I don't think have red belts. Plus the a pillar and belt lines are totally wrong for any audi.
@turbogsr43803 жыл бұрын
Gotta be a tesla of some sort. My audis steering wheel shape is similar but the center isn't metal looking like yours.

Thank you! Haha it was filmed at like 1 AM in the driveway... my neighbors probably think I'm crazy. The car is a AMG CLA35

What the f@*k they just destroyed the GMMK Pro to smithereens!! A coiled cable too?! Glorious refuse to improve their keyboard so good job Keychron. Just needs thicker case foam and a polycarbonate plate that comes with the Q1. 169 dollars for a full build is epic. It's between this or the upcoming KBD67 Lite R3 for me.
@Keybored3 жыл бұрын
It really is epic! I'm typing this on the modded Q1 right now, and it's such a satisfying keyboard to type on and it sounds like pure ASMR... it's crazy that this is coming from a keyboard under $200 right now

GMMK pro has not gotten sales certification yet so I was still waiting on it. After hearing your soundtest im considering this one with an FR4 Plate. Just hope it comes soon

I remember Keychron mentioning that it would be like a month after pre-order to deliver. I hope they can still keep up that schedule!

I just ordered a k2v2 and I kinda wish I just got the q1 instead but it seems out of stock.
@Keybored2 жыл бұрын
The Q1 is a much better board unfortunately. It doesn't have the wireless tho. The stock issue is bad... Hope they can figure it out quick!
@SeemsLikeSomething2 жыл бұрын
@@Keybored i got the k2 and it’s been awesome so far. Really dig it. But I feel like this may have kickstarted a new addiction lol. The q1 wasn’t available anyways and I don’t really wanna go that hard into modding on my first one. So the k2 seems like a perfect starting point. No complaints so far.

Haha, I ask that myself also... Why do I have 20+ keyboards when 1 is essentially enough lol
