Keyboards that don't have a numpad are just straight up ugly to me, I don't care how much you try to make them look pretty, they just won't look good at all.
@3cch1fb10 ай бұрын
Eventually I want to build a nice full size, something more mid-high end. I fully support the layout and anyone who chooses it. I’m also one that would prefer to have the numpad attached instead of a separate one. Looks so clean and proper and, you get to see more of those expensive keycaps on the board😂👌🏼

Gonna be honest here, I'm a developer who used Logitech K740 for years. And since I do networking related work too, typing IP addresses a lot via the numpad is super convenient. It's amazing for typing but after 6 months (up to 12 if you're lucky) you start to feel the degradation of the membrane and typing isn't so good. Luckily it was provided by the company I work with so they replaced 3 or 4 of these so far. It's definitely time to switch to a mechanical keyboard and I'm really interested in the Q6 Pro - just waiting for a review or two and if it's good I'm buying it :) Full size keyboard all the way :)
@Fizban610 Жыл бұрын
I have the Q6 Pro and love the keyboard. I am also a network engineer so i relate to needing the num pad for typing in ip addresses, subnets, etc. if you watch a review on the Q6 you pretty much watched a review on the Q6 pro. The Q6 pro is a little heavier due to the internal battery as it is a wireless keyboard through bluetooth, however you still have the option of using it wired. The only differences is the bluetooth, the battery, and if you are going with a fully built it comes with the keychron K pro switches instead of the Gaterons. I am currently using the Keychron K Pro Mint switches as I like the heavier tactile feel.

Programmer and freelancer here. I might not be typing IP addresses as often as you but I'm constantly using 2FA and doing accounting for the business so a numpad is a must in my book. For daily programming a tkl works (am using a q3) but still I kinda miss that numpad.

I haven’t done a single second of looking it up, but my instinct tells me that gaff tape is a better choice over painter’s tape anyway.
@kaichuuuuuu Жыл бұрын
Right?? I realized this should do a much better job damping than paper anyway since it’s cloth as soon as I picked up the roll. And I think it does work significantly better
@Fizban610 Жыл бұрын
I think most likely the reason people go with painters tape over gaff tape is due to it being less sticky. that way if they need to remove it for any reason there is less chance of pulling some SMD component off the board or leaving a horrible sticky residue. Other than that yeah it probably does a better job in the sound department.
@kaichuuuuuu Жыл бұрын
@@Fizban610gaff tape doesn’t leave residue and is as easy to remove as painter’s tape. I think 1 not a lot of people know what gaff tape is (for example vs duct tape) and 2 gaff tape is a lot more expensive and harder to find than painter’s
@Fizban610 Жыл бұрын
@kaichuuuuuu I have and use gaffers tape at home I've never seen gaffers tape leave a residue however I'm talking about others who like you said compare it to duct tape however I disagree that it's not stickier than your standard blue painters tape
@thierryvt11 ай бұрын
@@kaichuuuuuuJust gotta use 3 or 4 layers of painters tape to get the necessary thickness. Works well enough for me. Also I couldn't find gaffer's tape in my local diy store so there's at least 25% copium in there.

Any time I have to do any sort of numbers work I find it’s impossible with the tkl. I’m just so used to having that number pad. Saves me a lot of time (and I even have a separate number pad, but having to constantly moving the numbad onto my desk, then off of it, then back onto it again- it’s just enough of an inconvenience for me to justify buying a full size.) Worst case scenario, I end up not liking it much for my gaming setup and just decide to use it as an upgrade to my WFH setup.

96% Keebs are superior in my opinion. Having had a Razer Huntsman Mini Mercury Edition, at some point you really grow tired of not having enough keys or needing to switch modes just so you can switch between symbols. Depending on what you do, you will also need a numpad at some point. I just bought the Keychron Q6 and can’t wait until it arrives. I already know I’ll love it!

I keep waffling between the Q6 pro and the K10 Pro. I like the weight/premium aluminum frame... But damn, the ringing some videos have is super off putting and not worth the price.
@kaichuuuuuu9 ай бұрын
Ringing as in the ping? Keychron's unfortunately pretty notorious for that, although I've heard their newer Alu boards have improved upon that. I'm usually very sensitive to noise but this didn't bother me as much because I have headphones on while using for the most part.
@joe_limon9 ай бұрын
@@kaichuuuuuu yeah the high pitch resonating of the housing. The force break mod seems to help, but I am unsure if that prevents only one or both halves of the casing from being connected to the board.
@kaichuuuuuu9 ай бұрын
@@joe_limon I mean you could try doubling up on the gaskets as well or stuffing the inside the better damping and not just the flimsy plastic sheet Keychron uses but honestly I'm not sure either. You'll see in my last 2 keyboard videos that well damped plastic boards are significantly quieter than cheaper aluminum keyboards, so K10 might be your best bet, although I don't know anything about the internals of that product
@joe_limon9 ай бұрын
@@kaichuuuuuu yeah, I am gonna hold off and wait. My first super budget board is good enough. The next board I get I am going to go overboard. And hopefully make it my last one. Several hundred dollars later lol
@MyReviews_karkan9 ай бұрын
That's exactly why I went with the V6. Solid plastic (I got the translucent one, too) and pinging is nonexistent. It even has those little feet to prop it up that the Q doesn't have. V6 all the way. Replaced the keycaps with ksa profile from keychron and got the baby kangaroo switches and I'm now golden

I would go for full size keyboard as I'm doing game dev and if I need the num pad I wouldn't want to have to buy it afterwards and it not being connected. Yes TLK does have everything but having the num pad if I need to learn to use it for spreadsheets which I will be doing then it is worth it.

I have the same keyboard with cool keycaps and holy panda switches. Gotta love it Did u try changing the foam from the stock, because the stock foam seems kinda crappy tbh? Wanted to try it. I use the masking tape mod, that really worked. I think why most ppl dislike a full key list with a num pad is because their shoulder not being wide enough. Given a small desk space, I think most ppl would prefer a 75 or 65. Ouh yea, if my space bar is kinda rattling, what do I have to do?
