I cannot live without them, and I'm not a finance bro. I worked an inventory job 20 years ago where we had these 10 key belt hung computer units, and had to enter numbers as fast as you could think them. I got really good, and now it's a requirement for me. Only once did I screw that up with a 10 key-less laptop in college back in 2007. I ended up having to buy a USB acessory one. Never made that mistake again. It's literally the reason I have a Precision 7680 and not a Precision 5680, which would have done the job ok. I'm happier with twice as much RAM and an i9 anyway, but dead serious, no 10 key was what killed the cheaper model on arrival.

If you just use the row of numbers at the top, the / key is on the other side of the keyboard. But with the numpad, it’s just right there and you can type 01/01/2000 for example, so much faster than on a keyboard without a numpad. Do NOT use electrical tape for a tape mod. It is capacitive and can cause static discharge on the PCB, killing it. They're safe, non-static, non-conductive, and removes easily, meaning your PCB is safe.

I did it all for about $170 and I love every minute of my time with this board! Edit: the o-rings went on the keycap stems, not the switches. I agree with your friend some of us to work we need the num pad, I recently went with a Mechanical for the first time and 96% keyboard is the best bro shouldve gotten a 96%

Separate numpad is the move. I got a 75% and wound up liking the numpad on the left so I could still use my mouse/arrow keys with my right hand

I get that some folks only need WASD and space for pretty much anything they do on a computer. But a numpad is immensely helpful for many applications outside of CS:FortGrounds. Plus, fullsize keyboards are more comfortable than the squished-down alternatives.

I've been gaming on an uncustomized Keychron K2V2 Red for a few months and it works for gaming just fine. To me it's a gaming keyboard.

You're right, I don't need a gaming keyboard... and I've been very happy with a Keychron instead. V1 or Q65, with Durock T1 switches and MT3 or AF SA caps. Would love if they made a V65, since I love the "69%" layout but prefer their simpler / thinner / cheaper plastic V models over the heavier / more complex Q models. Is that heresy?

Finally, a ANSI101 104 layout on this channel! I know you were gas lighting him as a joke, but FYI (for others). That Razer keyboard in the beginning is known as a 100% keyboard because it has all of the keys the the IBM Model M (ANSI101 if you're American) established The "Numpad" is also referred to as a "10-key" referring to the keys 0-9. Take that away and you're left with ~84% Between the numpad and alphabetical keys, include "Page Up", "Del," "End" and so on, referred as the "Nav Cluster" which does not include the arrow keys. Take that away and you're left with ~75% I can live without a numpad, but is as a touch typer, I have come to realize my nav cluster is precious to me

I feel like the option to just use a 75% and a separate numpad could have been brought up here also more options for ergonomics to just be able to put your numpad anywhere you'd like ... otherwise amazing video as always, love your stuff @HipyoTech !

@@ddriese Meletrix (the Wuque Studio's sub-company that makes the Zoom 75 (which I ordered like two days ago, I can't wait) has an in-stock hot swappable numpad. It's not cheap at all and depending on where you do live shipment gets equally expensive, but maybe next time you upgrade or change your keyboard you may consider a zoom 65 or 75 and get a numpad too

As a raving clicky fanatic with an open mind, I get the sense from this video that I'd love to hear more Hipyo On Clickies. What do you dislike about them the most; just the racket, or is there more to it than that? Are there any you do kind of like, or at least dislike less than most others? If you *had* to run a set of clickies for a month on your favorite deck, which would they be and why? Or just go on a full-drama hateraide-rant if you literally can't think of any potential up-sides: My bet is it'd be fun & informative regardless. Also, 96/1800 layouts are really nice options for people who Must Have Tenkey for work-specific functionality but still want something nice and compact & maybe less pedestrian-looking than a traditional full-size. Turns out I don't miss my Lock/Pause and *especially* Ins keys at all.

For what it's worth: I like having a numpad not just for actual number entry, but also because when numlock is turned off it doubles as arrow keys, home/end, *AND* page up/down

The only issue I see with stuffing the keyboard is that the Q keyboards, as far as I know, have a sort of floating PCB that sits on gaskets. So the PCB moving is a feature. By cramming in foam and stuffing the case, you are eliminating that movement.

If it has no numpad, it’s not a keyboard. I had to order a separate numpad. It’s hilarious that people don’t want that.

I can totally be without the dedicated arrow and function keys, I can remap them if I really need to, but a numpad is a must. Sound profile is completely irrelevant because I use a headset 100% of the time, even when not gaming. The biggest issue with using the same keyboard for work (typing) and gaming is that for typing I want tactile and a decent amount of top actuation force to avoid typos, but for gaming I want linear and barely any top actuation force for minimum latency.

I think anyone who's older, and has grown up with full size keyboards isn't going to like these 60% layouts. Missing arrow keys? Missing the numpad? Heck no, I use both of those things a lot. So I am very glad to see a full size build, there are tons of the smaller build videos out there.

I have an Iqunix OG80 with TTC speed silver. I wanted a numpad as well, so I bought one of those $200 Logitech boards. I couldn't go back to cheap mech keys, so now I have an Epomaker independent numpad next to the OG80. P.S. If your electrical tape doesn't say "3M 33+" on the inside you've made a mistake. The 33 doesn't leave slime behind if you leave it on for more than a year.
