My nephew had me sit in his car while he played a Slipknot song. He was a big fan of the drummer. I remember staring at the dashboard and telling my nephew.... "He can't be doing that without help. It's insane." Then he made me watch a video of one of their live performances. The guy was a GOD. I mentally asked for forgiveness.

@@JackCarver10 well yes and no... see they had their own sounding drums, Clown usually beats on a steel drum using a bat or he uses band drums, but they bring in a different sound than the main drums. that's like saying you dont need Bass cause you have two Guitars, that is just not accurate.

His doctor reccomended he stop doing them, and learn to do them in such a way as to not rip his vocal chords apart. As a result, after Iowa, a lot of diehard Slipknot fans, me and my buddies for instance, complained that they had "Lost their edge" and "They were selling out" We were dickheads and wrong on both counts, obviously.

This album got an entire generation of kids into death metal. Slipknot is not generally considered to be a death metal band, but if you really listen to the riffs on this album they drew tons of influence from death metal records. The record label wanted them to write more radio friendly hits like wait and bleed so they released this album. Epic trolling, heavy as balls.

I saw joey fill in for lars ulrich of Metallica, saw him live with Rob Zombie and also saw him play live with one of the best industrial metal band off all time...Ministry! Also saw him play live with his other band Murderdolls, the did a signing before the murderdolls gig in Manchester so managed me meet joey and got his Autograph...he had a massive impact on my life and il never forget him. He passed a few years ago and was another founding member of slipknot. On this track he was doing a lot of the backing vocals and was slipknots bassist. Great job as always! :)

This entire song is ridiculous and one of the best performances from the whole band. Joey wrote a perfect drum composition, Paul had one of the most perfect bass parts to compliment those drums, and Corey's vocal performance is just unhinged and I love it.

I just wanna say as a drummer and diehard Slipknot fan I got really happy and excited when you brought up the high hats and how much you enjoyed what Joey did, that's an example of the little things he'd add to songs I always admired about his drumming. However, Paul Gray (Slipknot's bassist on this track/album) passed away in 2010. I've loved this part of the track since I heard it and saw it live, played by Paul. This was at the peak of Ross Robinson produced records. He always brings out the raw emotion in his production. Slipknot shows, especially on this album cycle, were absolutely insane (early 2000's). Some of greatest nights of my life!!! RIP Joey. An inspiration to modern metal drummers everywhere.

I used to listen to almost only metal. These days I listen to softer and more mellow music but I appreciate going back to metal with your "guidance". Slipknot is too intensive for me to listen eg. in my car but I can still appreciate it.

sounds like you're more of a "Classic" Metal guy, Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, etc. Slipknot is actually not all that intense, it's energetic, it's powerful and it's aggressive, certainly... but i can tell you that you havent seen anything yet when it comes to intense, i can fall asleep to Slipknot. XD

You brought up the bass earlier after talking about Joeys crazy fills I'm sure there's all kinds of people saying it but Paul also passed away a few years back they actually released the grey album in his memory

Have seen Slipknot live five times, all w/Joey, and yes- they are amazing. It's like being crushed by a wall of sound...in a good way. 🤘😎🖤

I saw Slipknot back in 2005 with Lamb of God and Shadows Fall. I nearly broke my leg in the mosh pit when someone launched off my shin. It looked like a sea of people jumping up and down throughout the whole arena. Joey was incredible, RIP.

I was 20 when this album came out, turning 40 this year. Strange to think that two of these guys are gone now. Paul the bass player and Joey the drummer. RIP to them both; gone too soon.

I reccomend you go back and watch some of their live performances from their early days. These guys went absolutely insane on stage. It's hard to describe the energy, particularly in their younger days, they emitted in their live performances. I've seen them literally beat the hell out of each other during a show. They were very visceral experiences to see them live

yeah look up any live performance of slipknot from 2001-2005 and you;ll see them at their best. playing with this intensity and matching it moving around was something to experience back in the day

Slipknot was the biggest band for me growing up. They got me through so much. Seeing them live(twice) is only shadowed by meeting Joey. Thanks for pulling out that bass part, I've listened to this song thousands of times and never pulled that out. I love it. Keep doing what you do man!
