I just saw one of these yesterday at the park near me and what a charming little bird they are. Mine was bobbing with a lot more enthusiasm than the one in the video. It was alone, but I usually see a few of them at this location. It let me sit quite near it. Lovely little birds.

Actually i found it weird to see sandpipers in flight! Usually they’re crawling in the mud 😂

I'm pretty sure I saw one at the beach in San Diego (or actually more of a muddy section underneath some cliffs). Is that possible? I only know its European cousin and I'm not familiar with American birds, so maybe there are other more logical options given that you say that it is not common at the beach?

Is there a correlation between birds that eat and find prey near water sources that bob and dip like this? I can think of wagtail, dipper, snipe etc that all do this to some degree
