I find it dangerous to percieve tourism as a source of wellness for such a tradittionaly cultured village as such. The best that can happen to these forests, the communities and the birds of paradise is that everything stays as it has been since generations. Humans living from the sustainable extraction of the resources of the forests, like animals. Tourism isn't a tangible productive activity, it just provides money which doesn't translate to life quality. Money is paper and food is food...

This video does look at it from the ranchers perspective. But they're the ones that are dealing with the cedar trees on their property. The larger picture is at the Sandhills is a very unique ecosystem in the world. Basically the Sahara desert with 2 in of soil on top. Quite beautiful in the spring when the flowers bloom. Here's a little more info: The Sandhills, often written Sand Hills, is a region of mixed-grass prairie on grass-stabilized sand dunes in north-central Nebraska, covering just over one quarter of the state. The dunes were designated a National Natural Landmark in 1984.

Nice. I had an anna's hummingbird becoming territorial and didn’t want other hummingbirds around to get near the feeder. I even caught it on video attacking one. It raised a family off the bird feeder lol

There is no such thing as; EVOLUTION! Prove it to any of us! Show the progressive skeletons, species of birds in transition to other sizes, colors, features! SHOW US! Almighty God made them that way since the beginning! Are you in the transition mode from an Ape to a human? There should be PLENTY of Fossil remains/skeletons to prove the FALSE TEACHINGS OF EVOLUTION!

🎉My oldest, who's always been just a leetle but dingy, was helping me put out a yard sale when she exclaimed, " Wow! Mom! Look what s big ole bug!!" to which I felt out laughing!! Twas a fat hummingbird flitting in & out on the frt porch... so beautiful!! And, of course, a teachable moment.

Starlings in Texas might make this sound too, but it's because they're mimicking the surroundings lol

Our night hawks make different sounds here in the Sonoran desert. There are two sounds i identify with the nighthawk. The first is this kind of purring like sound when they are on the ground at night. The other sound is like a playful laugh when they fly over me in pairs in the evening and at dawn. The laughing calls sound tropical and make me think of flying monkeys for some reason. They been out all hours of the day lately monkeying around. I think it must be mating season. Their faces are just an awful sight but they are the most beautiful bird to watch when in flight.

Hummingbirds are spectacular, with character far out weighing their size. I love patiently befriending them enough to feed from a nectar feeder in my hand. Occasionally I have been lucky enough for one to perch on my hand while feeding! The thing I find fascinating about that is that their itty bitty tiny feet are noticeably warm on my hand!!

I will never forget the first time my father pointed out the call of the loons to me on Upper Saranac Lake, NY. It is a sound that always calms me to the point where I can shut off my brain and sleep until morning. I like to think of the calls as "We got this." and "We do."

I was working with my crew in a state park. There was line of pines that the park wanted low-hanging branches removed. I was at the end of the line of trees when I looked back and saw that all the trees had been trimmed perfectly, except one, which had one long branch hanging low. I walked back and asked why. The gal answered, “Look!” I looked. Didn’t see anything that could be a reason for what seemed like sloppy work. “Look!” She said again, pointing closer. There it was, a tiny hummingbird’s nest built on top of that hanging branch, with two tiny eggs inside. Such a miracle, really.
