I deal with mostly Rf connectors and cables I was always interested in more behind them I am a musician at heart but this is some cool stuff!

I just built a BPF to be able to transmit WSPR with the Raspberry Pi GPIO/PWM trick. Having access to the RF lab of my uni is really useful for that, a VNA makes everything so easy. We're using R&S instead of Keysight, though, but hey, it's a German company and a German uni.

I didn't get the recommendation for the book, or was it a manual, by Daniel at the end of the podcast. In the comments "An Introduction to RF Circuit Design for Communication Systems" , and "Microwave Engr." by Pozar were recommended.

ISM bands, sub giga: 315M(Japan), 433M(EU and US), 868M(EU), 915M(US) something like FoRa or RFM modules are great to work with in this ranges, range up to few km or miles with 100mW or less power

I'm a new EE and RF engineering inspired me to become an EE when I was in the military. What do I need to know to start getting on these projects?
@KeysightLabs
@KeysightLabs 5 жыл бұрын
There are a couple ways to get into this. The main one for an EE is to find a job that has this as a component of your roles & responsibilities. A less formal way would be to start working on/building RF projects on the side as a hobby, there are a number of options out there. Finally, HAM radio certifications are a great way to build up some fundamental knowledge and get hands-on with basic RF tech.

How important is RF in defense applications?
@James-yi1vk

@@karamany9870 incredibly important. RADAR, radios, and energy weapons are all RF applications.

i've heard that "An Introduction To RF Circuit Design For Communication Systems" is a good intro without delving into complex formulas, but Microwave Engineering by Pozar is probably the best full overview

He mixes up the RF systems, over simplified making it incorrectly stated...

It was very evident that they were not prepared. Phil made himself sound like an sixth grade STEM student. If he had only prepared assuming there was a script would have been a better option. A one meter antenna at the top of the tower for AM broadcast stations and microwaves coming out of an antenna; we knew what he was trying to convey, but holy RF Batman!
