I always thought Wetherspoons would serve terrible food , until I went too a branch in King street in Hammersmith, my wife and I had a large full English each ie double everything, sausage , bacon eggs the works , and two bottomless late , all for less than 12 pounds and change , revaluation, the service was also helpful and charming , they had an extensive food and drinks menu all at outstanding prices , well done Wetherspoon’s when money is so tight , thank god for places like yours , outstanding and I’m a convert 😮

I've had quite a few Meals in Wetherspoons, I love Chicken & I'd definitely try this!! lovely presentation looked appetising & far outweighed KFC, so Wetherspoons gets My Vote. If You wanted to re-create this Meal at Home I recommend Aldi's Southern Fried Chicken from the Chilled Section tastes as good as KFC. Thank You for Sharing .

KFC in the UK varies massively between outlets. Sometimes freshly cooked, juicy inside, crispy outside, chicken pieces; and baking hot fries. Other times (like I had in a shopping mall in Burnley the other day) small, dried-up, boney bits of chicken and stale chips. Yes, I could complain or ask for a refund if it’s crap, but who has the time of patience to do that. KFC in places like Japan, South Korea, or Singapore is another story altogether - bigger pieces, professionally cooked, and clean restaurants. Plus choice of regular or spicy coatings,

The SF chicken strips, are a generic... 3663, GXO, K&N, Brake's delivered, 'own brand'... 'one fits all recipe', that you'll find at ALL eat in pub/chain diners! 👍 *and yes, they are VERY nice! (Aldi also do a product nearly identical in their freezer section too. You get about 10 pieces for £2.50... and WELL worth it!👍) EverydayI'minAldi 😆👍

Hi EIE. Disappointed read the respective comments on Weatherspoons which I be visited on very rare occasions and agree it does attract drinkers propping up the bar area. The chips for me had an advantage over KFC chips which are simply ok. However it'll be KFC for me in all other respects. Fillet chicken is always my choice and fair say are excellent. Nicely cook and moist as you pointed out. Eat in is always peaceful and no pressure to leave equally advantage over Weatherspoons is the take away aspect which many if not most prefer as I see many consuming in the peace of their comfy cars.

KFC chips are a small portion size and taste awful. I enjoy their regular fried chicken but I find the coating and skin fall off nowadays, and that didn't used to happen, it's like the chicken had got greasier. But I keep returning to KFC because I love the seasoning and meal options. However, out of the two meals you've enjoyed here I'd go for Wetherspoons option, the chip portion is twice the size and much better quality, and as I'm not a fan of KFC popcorn chicken the Wetherspoons chicken options just suit me better.

You are so lucky in this part of the UK. The KFC's here in the States are not this nice and on the way out. They might even be going into bankruptcy soon. All the KFC's in my local area in this part of Pittsburgh have all all closed.

Ohio has some KFCs left but for chicken alone Popeye’s is much better. Bigger and tastier pieces there but their sides and the service at our local Popeye’s aren’t even passable.

Greetings from Los Angeles! I was shocked at your KFC Coleslaw! It looks nothing like the KFC slaw I grew up eating! Yours looked very mayo heavy and even the texture is different. Our KFC slaw is chopped fine, into confetti shaped bits. The dressing here is a classic Southern style sweet, buttermilk and mayo based, thin coating. As for my vote: KFC all the way.

For a really tasty fried chicken meal, here in the Los Angeles/Orange County area, head to Mrs Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant, AKA "Mrs Knott's". You don't need to pay park admission to dine there (it's part of Knott's Berry Farm). Also you'll hear the screams from nearby Ghostrider! 🤣 There is also a dedicated take-out service window (mostly used by us locals who live nearby) Be sure to save room for a boysenberry pie slice, and be sure to take home a jar of boysenberry preserves. Mr Knott's claim to food history is his cultivation of the boysenberry. The Park's jam is NOT the same stuff sold in supermarkets. The stuff in markets is using the Knott name under license and made with corn syrup. The Knott's Marketplace branded jam is made from Cordelia Knott's original recipe, using cane sugar and noticeably more fruit.

The “new kid on the block” regarding fried chicken in the U.K. is the huge American brand Popeyes and I much prefer them to KFC. There’s a branch in Bramhope and several near Sheffield. Maybe you can check it out !

KFC takes the crown. Never been a Spoons fan and they're charging the same for smaller portions with a BBQ sauce that doesn't taste like BBQ and runny/milky coleslaw with tables that are dirty and inattentive staff that always look like they'd rather be somewhere else 🤣 You should have just gone to Burger King for a Chicken Royale Bacon & Cheese with fries 👍

in Kfc the best thing with the chicken is the mayo. but paying extra for a side like gravy, corn or coleslaw being £1.50 each. the Kfc strip size vary and you could have some very small ones. the Wetherspoons. bits are 3 or 4 times bigger. and there is more chips by weight. may be this is something you should do weight the portion size you can change the drink to unlimited hot on in Wetherspoons. And they do have a deal in many at the minute 2 chicken strips in a bun with chips and a drink for £4.81 they also seem to have added a new sauce in bottles you can use and it is really good on the chicken strips. Saying Kfc are the winner is dependent on the size of the portion you get in the KFC you go to. I can not agree that the popcorn chicken is better at KFC than wetherspoons.

I prefer KFC, know what I'm getting exactly with them, had their food before in the place and takeaway and they have always been good, very tasty. Weatherspoons looks decent amount of food, can't comment what food tastes like, but the chicken and chips look nice, small pot of coleslaw. Thank you.

Kfc had its heydey for flavour mid 90s. Started to go downhill around 2005 and has gradually got worse. The secret flavouring is ok, sides are decent ..however the word chicken is really debatable. KFanythngbutchickenC woudl be more apt

Hmm, can I say neither? “ Real” fried chicken is bone in, usually buttermilk soaked , floured and fried although more and more are using the chicken tenders like these , that is except places that make real fried chicken . Just not the same thing, you may as well get a Wendy’s chicken sandwich lol. KFC would never be number one in the US. It’s ok, their bone in extra crispy is the closest to the real thing, coleslaw is good but real southern fried chicken isn’t fast food . Delicious but not like either of these.

I have reservations about virtually all of these so-called reviews. Invariably the restaurants seem to be empty. Are these reviews done, by prior arrangement and before the places are opened to the public ? If so then can we be sure that if we go in we are going to get the same service or even the same food - freshly cooked and quantity. I don't think that I would ever visit many of the places reviewed in this way but they are interesting, some are entertaining and some like the ones done by the man with the popping eyes and his histrionics are just frankly irritating.
