I was fortunate enough to be at this show. Detroit wasn't even on the scheduled on the 78 tour and the Stones basically showed up at the last minute. 3 other friends and I snuck in the back, ran up some stairs, down a few halls, through a door and there we were. I remember it like it was yesterday. Seen them every year since 75. They never disappoint!!!

Me and a friend also snuck in the back door via the fire esacape. Sat on the steps of the balcony and watched the whole show. One of my best memories from the 70s. Tickets were being scalped for as much as $250!

This demonstrates why the Stones are great. They have five guys playing as a whole, excellent sidemen (keyboards) and a tremendous entertainer in Mick Jagger fronting the thing. Keith to various degrees and states of mind is the orchestra leader, and the soul of the operation.

I think the glacier-sized amount of great material in the vaults is testament to that...and they were fierce as a live band on this tour. Ronnie's crude, slashing style was ideal during these breakneck shows.

Robert S., As someone born in 1977 I envy you. Didn't see the Stones until 1999. I'll remember it as clearly as the first time I had sex. ( in a Spanish brothel on my 16th birthday, a present from my father) I love all the Stone's era, but here they sound tough, funky and a little punky. Keep going!!

This show was a bummer memory for me. This was a surprise show that was announced on the radio I was listening to that tickets were now (and I mean right this %^%$# instance) available. When I heard the announcement I was toiling on the assembly line making Cadillacs on Clark Ave. in Detroit. One of my work mates instantly became "sick' and left to get tickets. By the time he got off work and got there the tickets were gone. CRAP!!!

Can never get enough of this band! This is obviously an inspired performance. have seen the Stones 21 times since 1965 on 10 tours. Am looking forward to a farewell (Last Time) tour in 2013, since the Brooklyn and Newark shows were instant sellouts.

The Masonic temple is still standing till this day unlike the great grande ballroom which is sad and sucks. But I did see bob Dylan at the Masonic temple a few years back it's a great old beautiful building and a real treat to see a concert there my uncle seen Hendrix there way back in the day

have you guys noticed that the 75-76 concerts all run like 2 hours, but the concerts before and after are around 60-80 minutes. they must have hit their all-time bamboozled levels in those years. crazy guys didnt even know how long they had been playing for with so much coke and heroine lol.

Keith was pretty much done with Heroine , Ronnie was not into freebasing and crack like the 1981 tour , Charlie was Charlie { Stellar} same with Bill and Mick sang like this was the last show of all time. It was still about the music only and they had a Hot album to tour with.. They were amazing on this tour ..

It is Masonic Temple, however where they played is the auditorium within the Temple building. It's referred to as Masonic Auditorium and I was there for this show.

Are you sure this is the Detroit show? This sounds an awful lot like the Memphis show of the same year. I recorded it from the King Biscuit Flower Hour and although I lost the recording, this sounds exactly the same. For some reason, I remember them opening with Sweet Little 16 at this show. Maybe I'm getting old and can't remember. Can anyone confirm?

The shows on this tour could have been so much better had the band played longer and also played more hits. As good as they sounded on this tour, some of those hits would have sounded nothing short of amazing. This by far though is my favorite era of the band. The fuck off attitude they had then was so badass

I think this was the last great tour The Stones ever did, I believe they played shorter shows this tour was because the 75 U.S Tour they were playing close to 3 hour shows and Jaggers voice was shot because of that, regardless all the shows I've heard from this tour show the band to be a really tight unit with only Ian " Mac" Mclagan on keyboards, nowadays there's about 10 other players/singers on stage with the band!
