I purchased a 2019 Rexton Ultimate when they were first released in Australia (Y400 platform). Now in its 5 year of ownership, I can say during this time its used for daily city commutes etc, then I use the Rex to tow our Swan Outback camper which has travelled from Melbourne to the NT during December in the peak heat times. The car has performed without fault. The only issue to date was an alternator which was replaced under warranty. Yes it doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles, the ride is twitchy and soft at the same time. But overall its a nice place to be in the cabin, tows well, not too heavy on fuel and overall the quality is excellent. My experience to date is good with great support and servicing. As the brand is growing more parts will become available for all models.. So for the haters of Ssyangyong, maybe take one of the vehicles for a test drive before commenting. You will be surprised and the money you save.

Couldn’t agree more. Now on my 3yr of ownership on a Rexton Ultimate. Not an issue to date. My son has had his Mercedes SUV in for warranty work twice. Best value large SUV on the road hands down. Reliability is first class.

I bought a KGM Torres 4WD Amazon green one in Türkiye a month ago. Although the interior equipment is different from the Australian models, the exterior appearance and engine are the same. We have a repair kit, you have a spare tire. The interior dash and screens are different. The Turkish model has a 3rd screen with air conditioning and seat heating. There are curtains that can be lowered and lifted on the rear side windows. While you have headrests and back pockets, we don't. It has become a very nice and safe vehicle. Because the steel ratio used is even higher than Volvo: 78%.. I recommend it.

I would certainly have one. I like how it looks. I can't afford one. I've never charged a phone or used any of the other tech stuff that was mentioned so that's no bother. I don't even use the cruise control. But seeing that you asked about Ssangyong owners, I thought that I'd let you know that I've had two. The first was a Musso that I had for 13 years, and I also have a Stavic that is going on for 19 years. I've only had to replace the head unit on the Stavic. Apart from that, no problems. Which reminds me, I'm way over due for a service. Better get that done so that I get a bit longer out of it.

Bought a new runout Y450 Ultimate in July and even with just about every accessory in the catalogue fitted it still came in less than a Paj Sport Exceed with much more equipment as standard. The only minor issues are the lack of native navigation and adaptive cruise but I can live with both those and as a driving experience, it has been a pleasant surprise, with the 3.5T towing being the icing on the cake. I am trying to persuade my daughter to buy a Torres this year, although if they decide to bring the updated Actyon into Oz, I’d be suggesting she waits, as that looks even better. Hopefully KGM Ssangyong can start to get the recognition its vehicles genuinely deserve from the buying public.

It definitely looks great and unique, it looks better than the kia sportage. This kgm reminds me of the older suzuki grand vitara. The torres having an aisin automatic means its more relialbe than kia and hyundai dual clutch. The main problem is see is the lack of ac controls. This is definitely the best looking sang young vehicle i have seen in a while. 25mpg for awd is normal , almost all awd vehicles have worse fuel consumption, except for subaru vehicles.

It’s an impressionist rear end. As long as it is functional. The kink in the roof may be to give it more strength. The design of the car is very USA look. I can see a few American car in there. Obviously more for that market like a lot Asian car builders.

I sat in one of these at a dealer last week. I was surprised by a couple of things: - the build quality, in terms of panel fit and flushness, panel gaps, paint quality. All excellent and above average. - the interior design, build quality and general ambience. All significantly nicer and more solid-feeling than any Chinese car I’ve sat in. Also a bonus that it didn’t smell like a $2 shop. I’m not in the market for a car like this, but if I was I would seriously consider a Torres. It’s different, it’s cool, and it seems very nicely put together. A diesel would be nice though, just for more torque and better economy.

When I had my first close look at a Torres at the local KGM dealer, I thought it was less radical than it looked in the magazine articles. Its not that "out there". And is the roof line and the rear end really that weird? Its an interesting car to look at, and the quality appeared to be quite good.

KG Mobility whom makes this offroader is owned by SAIC: Ssangyong Torres is a most a knockdown kit sent to South Korea from China. Again not saying they are not bolting these kits tight in Pyaengtaek, but that two factory and two ship process slaps at least another $5k to what everyone after that fact pays. SAIC makes very good cars, and is so massive and vertically integrated only other Chinese mega automakers can compete. The legacy brands wouldnt be spending hundreds of millions on faceless social media influences and automotive safety NGOs otherwise.
