Out of curiousity, would it be very difficult to let Roxas summon two samurai Nobodies as his temporary party members, or allied NPC that just walk around and attack whoever is hostile, or for them just to show up and assist Roxas in a finisher move? It would be both cool and lore-wise for Roxas to be able to command Samurai Nobodies in such a way.

I mean, we haven't seen anything regarding the summons will be changed or not yet, and modders have figured out how to swap out summons if Xaddgx's Vanitas and Aqua mods are anything to go by.

This is incredible, I can't believe someone finally made a way to speed up mp recharge, I've had this idea myself for years. And I laughed so hard that your example of jump cancelling was just a bunch of killer bees, that's a true DMC fan right there. I really thought the inspiration would be skin deep, but you have done so much to actually merge kh and DMC systems, your efforts are nothing short of amazing truly

Okay, THIS is the update where you really went HAM on making the mod true to it's title! holy shit the sheer number of combo possibilities added with the new enemy step is INSANE! Gonna be combo videos FOR DAYS(hahahah, hahaha funni joke) when this gets it's full release! and i'm sorry...did you say "ANIMATIONS IMPORTS FROM KH3????" bruh, it's over, MODDING IS REACHING THE PINNACLE.

this is INCREDIBLE!! The combat and mechanics seem awesome - and I love that it focuses on style and doing new things to keep the spectacle fresh and exciting! With that in mind though, I wanted to bring up that for me, as a spectator, it can be difficult to follow what exactly is happening with all the bright special effects. I know that as the mod creators you all likely have spent countless hours spotting them and so know how to recognize exactly what's going on with ease. Because this mod is inspired by DMC, I'd like to bring up how the effects in the latest entry (DMC5) rarely use pure white light for the effects of the main characters. Even when the light is intense, the viewer can fairly reliably pick out the location of the player character thanks to the way their often-dark outfit "blocks" some of the bloom effect such attacks have. As an example, here's a video that takes Roxas' model and shoves it into DMC5's gameplay: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZnIm3afea6hptU Piercing white lights rarely ever appear throughout its runtime, and when they do (such as at about 1 minute in on the mark) the intense pure white light is very brief - only significantly obscuring the character model for a frame - and so our eyes can immediately pick up where they left off with only the most brief of shocks to our visual senses. With all this said, I'm still blown away by the KH modding communities!! It feels like I get as excited to see progress there as I do to see progress in what I specialize in, SSBB (Smash Brawl) mods. I don't know just how much these visual effects can be tweaked, but I just wanted to point out the visual effect stuff in case it is possible to modify it and in case it might be overlooked and/or isn't the intent of said visual effects. Thanks for the spectacular progress updates and footage showing what's possible in the mod, and I hope y'all have as fun making it as us viewers have watching it 😄 (edit: to further explain what I mean, when white light is added to white light you get white light as a result - and that can make it difficult to discern "individuality" from some attacks, such as when there is light from fire and/or "nobody defeated" vfx compounded with the light effects of roxas' own physical actions)

Good constructive criticism. This mod is indeed VERY flashy, which sometimes I like, but other times can be a bit overwhelming and hard to follow. The good news is, when you're good at the game (as the person playing clearly is) it obviously doesn't interfere and makes for a very nice show.

While I totally agree with everyone getting hyped over Luminous Drive and Enemy Step, I adore the fact that you added abilities that let the game mime KH1's amazing MP system. Not only is it flatly necessary for how the Luminous Drive's "point" system works, but I've long felt KH1 had the best MP system in the series. Looking forward to using it for some SSStylish combos.

I just wanted to ask If you could add a new game Difficulty called Nobody mode or something like that where you have less health than critical but not like 1 hp and make it to where every time you die you don't restart you lose a form until you can find a save point to get it back or a rare form recovery potion and once you die (die) like run out of all your form and die then the game either ends or like you then restart from the beginning of the world you died in. Ex you are on the second play through of a world you die (die) then you have to redo the second play through of that said world. But every time you die and lose a form you just continue but no load from save point so they cant restart every time from the last save point. Like make it extreme so It challenges people and makes it more exciting.

I was thinking the same. About enemies getting DT or "awakened form" in Critical Mode if you take too long in battles. That would make 1000 heartless battle insufferable, though.

OOH, if you're using the term "Score" for your combos and Luminous form, is it possible to use the Mini-game score HUD as like a permanent Luminous Drive HUD that scales with your hits? Dunno how complex that would be!

One of the issues is how many fights already co-opt the Extra Gauge UI for other things, obvious examples include Shan-Yu having the Morale Meter, Saix having Zerk Meter, Lex having the silly Power Level counter, and Luxord's Time Meters, so you'd have to figure out how to slap it on top TBH if you start getting into custom meters I'd go for like, a secondary line on the HP bar, ala the KH1 MP Charge meter, or maybe a blue edge on the Drive Meter or something

I'm absolutely doing a vanilla run of this when it drops but I pray that this mod will get rando comparability, I mean this genuinely looks like the best way to play kingdom hearts to date even if it doesn't have support for rando. Truly incredible

I don't know the complexity of making a mod like this, so I will start by saying you've done great work. This is the type of combat we, the players, wanted when playing KH 2, especially as Roxas after he gets his two keyboards. I think you should add Roxas's skateboarding skills as a combat mode if possible. I remember seeing Dante ride a motorcycle in the newest game, so this is where my thought took inspiration. Anyways, keep it up!

OOH! You should add something about Sora for the "I won't give up option!" it makes things stylishly quick and paceful. I also think you should change some of the game's ost for like hidden references or something. :D

Base Roxas looks... Kinda vulnerable, compared to the 6-blade wingblade form and the limit equivalent. Underwhelming, almost? Taunting makes it easy to stay in forms, though, and each form is flashy and cool as heck.

This is super impressive! However, would there be a chance to lessen or lower the light from the Lunimous Drive as an option somewhere? Combined with the effects already on display, it can make the action much harder to see compared to how it was previously.

I am... okay, slightly more than mildly annoyed that you didn't go for "Zero Form" for Oathkeeper & Oblivion, hood on. That's literally the costume associated with the Zero Gear ⑤ with 3 Ability Unit Ⓛ attached when in Mission Mode in Days.

Just a thought/opinion: I feel like using The Last Remnant's music theme fits more than dmc's. Like, the music is obviously fucking great and it's a dmc inspored mod, but I'd be willing to say The Last Remnant's music fits another square game better _and_ has that blood pumping and badass feel to it lol

I think if you slowed the animations down on Roxas's attacks it would look and feel much better. One of the big appeals behind KH2's combat animations are how they have some weight behind them with the way Sora moved. Too sped up and it almost feels like the character is just flailing. Now, while Roxas is rocking the hoodless Awakened Form there is some merit to him blitzing everywhere as this is his peak. In fact, I could see that Bladeless and Light/Dark could have a slight speed increase and Awakened Form move and animate at the speed shown here, while normal Roxas maintain the standard KH2 animation speed. This will definitely give a sense of power increase and mastery to it as well. Of course, if this is already the case and you are just playing on an accelerated mode then awesome to hear. I've been trying to keep tabs on this mod progress but I've missed a bunch lately. And finally, the obligatory, will we see any of this converted over to Sora as well? A super remixed version of KH2 Sora with all this would be tight.

Almost all the animations on Base Roxas are repurposed Sora/Roxas KH2 animations, and none of them are sped up. So to your point, they actually are the standard KH2 animation speed.

@@Project_NMC Oh tight! I wonder if this kind of mod would be usable with some of the other characters in the game rather than just Roxas or Sora in the future. That's awesome. Although, still from my point of view things seem sped up but it could be the animation and attack canceling mechanic that gives it that illusion since there wouldn't be any "end lag" between attacks to give it that natural ebb and flow of movement. But I do get what you're saying. Still excited to see what you do next.

​@@zefer8831 Thats not a bad suggestion, it just might be too late into development to change the timing of the combo windows. Unfortunately, dodge canceling, guard canceling, and jump canceling have to share the same timing as the combo windows, thats just an unfortunate reality of modding KH2FM. So if I push back the combo windows later in the animation, you'd also have to wait longer before you're allowed to guard, dodge, or JC. I will look into it and test it however, and see if it doesn't feel too bad.

@Project: Nobody May Cry Ah it is the limitations of the software! I feel bad now throwing myself at you when it was something you've already considered, so I do apologize. To be fair though, I've played just about every DMC game and they also suffer from a similar problem and it is generally up to the player to space out their actions if they want it to look smoother in combat, but you can definitely get the "flailing" look from just attack/anim cancelling everything as soon as possible in those games too. Also one last idea to toss out. Limits and Summons. You think Limits could be used to include Roxas's desperation attack and/or his big finishers from KH3? And for Summons, imagine if you have like 1 Summon and it spawns in an A.I. controlled Axel to fight some enemies with you. Just some ideas but going off of what you've said previously you probably have a whole lot already planned out. Still looking forward to what you do next!

Limits will be on Cure for this mod. Modding the original Limit function is a bit buggy at the moment, putting it behind a Spell is much easier. And Summons will definitely be in development in future updates.
