Interesting how Khabib chose a more Olympic freestyle wrestling approach to this match with a much bigger opponent. This supports the theory that good wrestlers with above average striking technique and power have enough tools to dominate MMA. A good grappler can take the fight to the floor or very close range and it will be hard for a more striking type of fighter to get the power and precision needed to be effective with their strikes. It is worth mentioning that Khabib is a master at closing spaces and not everyone can do it like that..

Welterweight for sure, at middleweight he probably gets his takedown attempts stuffed and eats too much damage from striking. Modern middleweights are huge. Khabib did well against Luke but it was friendly grappling with no striking.

never seen kind of this rare footage, but this is the first time I saw Khabib get took down perfectly. but the positive think is, Khabib always sparring with the better opponents to take/ to maintain his level. Imagine him in LW vs HW, that's crazy. And the most important thing, like he said at the end, to invite the youth off the street, and active in the gym.

30 seconds before match ended that was amazing and they both went all out. idk how lightweight can match up with same pace at heavyweight level and we can see khabib in terms of stamina, speed and pressure he got upperhand at last minute and ahmachei upperhand at power, weight and defence at the beginning, they both world champions 👏👏👏
