If Khabib isn't well prepared for 10th planet rubber guard game, something's seriously wrong with him and his team. And if Tony thinks he can just play the guard game against Khabib instead of trying to get up something's wrong with him & his team as well. Confidence is one thing but underestimating your opponent's game is another. This applies to both fighters
@K4iT3c7 жыл бұрын
kopxpert Khabibs style never really puts him in a position to be put in the rubber guard. I believe bjj scout has a really good breakdown of his top game.

Khabib Time! This is such a crazy matchup, real main event here
@Yzjoshuwave8 жыл бұрын
This could very well be one of the craziest matchups of the year. 50-50 is right. These guys are both beasts. If it goes past round 3, I think that bodes well for Ferguson, who probably won't gas. Khabib is viciously aggressive and will probably be coming forward most of the time. If Ferguson can show a lot of different faces, with plenty of feints and unpredictability, it could slow down Khabib's forward motion, which could neutralize many of Khabib's best weapons. This is going to huge. I can't wait!

Thanks for the great analysis. I'm picking Ferguson because he has shown great cardio even at high altitude. He can just go hard for 5 rounds, and puts relentless pressure. His takedown defense and grappling creativity also helps me make this pick.

I can't see Khabib winning this fight.. Tony is too well rounded and the reach advantage for Ferguson is insane. But that's why I'm so hyped for this fight. Because who knows what will happen! Thank you for the great analysis Zahabi :)

@VK-cp2kc8 жыл бұрын
They are both threats, but I just think Tony would stand with Conor giving him the chance to catch him in boxing range, whereas Khabib would just maul him for 25 minutes.

One issue for khabib against Conor is that Michael Johnson kinda exposed his striking and lit him up for the first half of the first round. If he could get into wrasslin' range, he'd rape Conor

I think this Fight could come down to conditioning Tony can take a lot of damage and has an endless gas tank as well as great submission game. Khabib has not been in deep water or even been tested. I believe since Tony has been in the fire and can take so much abuse along with his heart and cardio he wins in the 4th or 5th round by submission or unanswered strikes .

The real winner of this fight is the fans and the sport. These are the fights we want to see, forget what the casual fan wants. You turn them into fans by getting them into the minuteau of the sport, the details, and the little things that set apart one style and one guy from antoher. That's how you got me from the NFL to the UFC/MMA/BJJ and I haven't looked back.
@eugenesong83578 жыл бұрын
Don't forget about 10th Planet's half guard game as well. If you look at all of Eddie's matches that was his go to strength, an obvious and recent example would be the Royler Metamoris match. Khabib often initiates his top game from half guard, I could see Tony nullifying Khabib's top game by using Eddie's half guard system to get up, or I could see Tony being wild enough to go for some deep half guard tricks to try to attack the legs. Though I gotta call El Cucuy by D'arce 2nd round.
@sandeepmohan69058 жыл бұрын
Eugene Song True but I haven't really seen Tony use that lockdown or the electric chair from that half guard position. I think Ferg has a way better chance getting a Darce. His D'arce is his single most lethal weapon. He locks it in on the feet, on the ground, from any angle. Hope Khabib's drilled those D'arce defences coz he often leaves his head exposed when he shoots.
@eugenesong83578 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree, Khabib's gonna try for the takedown a lot too, it's going to give Tony multiple chances to catch the D'arce.
@SofaKingWashed8 жыл бұрын
This fight really depends on which Tony and which Khabib come to fight that night. Ferguson isn't really a counter striker, so aggression could work in Khabib's favor in getting him to the ground and staying heavy on him, But, if Tony plays the distance right, it could be a long night for Khabib. Really interesting toss-up of a fight, and congrats on your brother's debut, Firas!

I was thinking the exact same thing about the third round being the deciding point. If khabib can't break him by then, he will be in big trouble. The Ferguson of late makes guys look like they just don't want to be locked in the cage with him by the third round. I think the first round will be Khabibs. The second will be closer but still Khabibs. But I think Ferguson will step it up in the third round and Khabib will be wondering why he's not defenceless and broken by then like MJ was. Ferguson will be a crazy man with blood on his face, charging at Khabib, stopping more takedowns and throwing elbows, knees, hands and feet. He will take the last three rounds and even have Khabib in trouble. I think he will finish him in the fifth round. He will break him and choke him. Khabib will be worn out in the fifth down and go for a half arsed takedown and Ferguson will snap him down and choke

Khabib to take quite a few shots due to Tony's reach early on, some big shots but nothing that wobbles him, and by midway round 3, khabib dropping tony, disguising his punch as a takedown attempt, jumping on quickly before tony can recover, finishing ground and pound. Just before fourth minute round 3. Have no idea tho, keen to see how it plays out

Truly appreciate your commentary, I actually think Toney is going to win a lot more handily then people expect... I think Tony has a far better stand up game, and I do not think he will get taken down that easy unless he does something foolish which he can do considering how athletic and innovative he is... If he fights smart I think it will be in an easy win, if he keeps rushing in and ending up chest to chest he could obviously lose because of being on his back the whole night..
@look47538 жыл бұрын
This will not be close, Khabib will win. If it goes to the scorecards it will be 4 rounds to 1 for khabib. But theres also a chance khabib submits fergusson in the 3rd or 4th.

@Fin4L6are8 жыл бұрын
Hi Firas, I think Khabib smashes him for 5 rounds but anytime during that Tony can take the neck (D'arce most likely...) Khabib was hand fighting Daniel Cormier 45 minutes per day for this fight, but this is active defence, and passive defence is positional - meaning during scrambles Tony can catch him. Apart from that a less likely option for Tony is massive damage from elbow. What do you think?

Something that most people are forgetting is that Tony is indeed crazy. He is just out of his mind and on top of that he is a great fighter. I do not see him breaking at any point because that madness of him will always drive him. He might get TKO'd but I don't think he will just fade and give up. But at the end we are all human and we all gas out at some point so who knows.

Thanks coach. This will be a Close fight. So many ways this could play out. However I believe the three most likely will be a) Ferguson avoiding most of Khabib's strikes and take downs by playing a counter-attacking game with lots of movement and pressure in the first three rounds. Then turning it up - Nate Diaz style - in the championship rounds. Using his superior cardio to his advantage. We've never seen Khabib go five rounds, and I'm sure he can. But we've never seen it. And he plays such an explosive, high pressure game that I see him gassing in the latter rounds giving El Cucuy the advantage. El Cucuy 48-47 x3 Or b) Khabib dominating for 3-5 rounds. Or however long it takes him to break one of Ferguson's arms. Khabib by submission or 50-45 pure domination Or C) Ferguson by TKO or submission after rocking Khabib on the feet and going in for the finish. Stoppage by Darce or punches For Conor's sake I hope Khabib wins as I'm a massive Conor fan and I believe he has a much better chance of defending his belt against the short, stocky grappler than against the taller boxer with a huge tank and world class grappling
@EdwinMaverick78 жыл бұрын
Nice effort coach true comments about both the fighters according to me khabib is gonna dominate this fight all are believing this fight is gonna be a lot close fight but I don't think so cause no body has beaten khabib even a single round in ufc so far and also khabib has come from hills he suffered like no one in his life n trained from his small age he's an absolute master of grinding people n getting results he talk smash during fights that will shatter Tony's will like it did against johnson... It's gonna be easy fa khabib

why are you talking about 10th planet as if it was synonymous with runner guard? the truck and it's subs, Japanese neckties and twisters, Tony's darce - thats what hmeans by 10th planet. rubber guard was the first major wrinkle, but not the biggest.
@yousefA-uf4mp8 жыл бұрын
i really dont think it's gonna be as close as people think it's gonna be. i think khabib is in another level, right up there with conor. both of those guys in my opinion are levels above the rest of the division (we could use the conor vs eddie fight as an example). i honestly believe that khabib vs tony will be pretty even in the beginning of the first but khabib is just gonna apply his grappling and win comfortably by round 3 ground and pound. i hope tony proves me wrong tho
