@@loristnorton3723 I understand what you're saying. The thing is, Khabib was always good. It's just that he hadn't had the limelight yet, and neither given a title shot. Let this sink in. Khabib beat RDA in 2014 when RDA was in his prime. Then after he beat him in 2014, Khabib left on hiatus for 2 years.. and RDA became Champion in 2015. Because of some misfortunes early on, he had to made up for it later.. Because he was always the real undercover champion for years. And they all know it. I know people say Ferfuson was, and I like Tony, but he wasn't. Edit.. And you hit the nail on the head also, Conor pretty much hogged the spotlight when he came to the UFC. I mean let's be honest. It was all about Conor. And that's alright.. but it shows that it was all just a smoke screen. The UFC was making its rise and needed a poster boy. And I'll give it to Conor, he helped the UFC. but he also definitely hogged up the limelight from real talent. In all actuality, the LW title shot should've never been given to Conor. That was Khabib's title shot against Alvarez. Fact. I also believe, that this is partially what rubbed Khabib the wrong way. He was given the title shot and made millions.. and then left the sport to pursue boxing for more money. He never defended. And never returned the honors of allowing anyone to fight him for the championship.

Khabib is one of those guys everyone roots for to win. He's so humble, so disciplined and respectful. And all that plus his absolute dominance in the sport, thats why people rarely root against him. And when an opponent is talking trash to khabib, he stands his ground like a G, then beats them. No facade, no games. He's really about that. The example Andrew gave with Floyd mayweather... even though mayweather is also great at his sport, he intentionally paints himself as the villain to promote the fight. His whole gimmick of "money mayweather," people see him flaunting and they want him to lose. Then if he fights a mexican opponent, he intentionally disses them coming in with a sombrero to promote the fight. So then it stirs interest but it also has ppl feeling like "alright, dude is getting too cocky, he needs to get beat so he can shut up." To floyd's credit, he thrived as the villain

I think Khabib is partly a draw because of the Floyd-People wanna see undefeated guy lose-effect but there’s also something very awe inspiring about him. Something about an extremely disciplined warrior from the mountains of Dagestan is so fuckin cool to me (and many others). It’s almost movie character-ish. Obviously he’s also incredibly talented in the cage and maybe the most dominant fighter MMA has ever seen. The fact that he’s fairly one-dimensional and every single opponent knows how he’s gonna fight but still falls victim to it adds to that for me also. When you combine all of that, you have a huge character & the fact he’s kinda awkward, doesn’t really like media and is almost unintentionally popular just reinforces his character and why people like him. He’s almost the perfect foil for the western culture of excess and trash-talking, which is very refreshing for many.
