When they were hyping up the top tier vocalist at the end and showing Lara?! YES the editing I AM GAGGEDDDDDD
@KPopwithKhadija4 ай бұрын
That is maybe my favourite moment in all of reality tv now. It was SO GOOD! "Anybody could be that final member that we need." Music stops. Cut to Lara, sitting and smiling confidently to the camera. I'm sure it was maybe just extra footage right before they started a confessional or something, but it was SO ICONIC. Like "I'm here, bitch. I'm that member you need." Then those vocals that sell out stadiums! I was screaming, internally!

i think people should realised they only put an 8 hour long video for a project that has been going on for almost 2 years. So there are many behind the scene stuff that we still never know. Everything that happened between the girls is not something that we should judge because we were not even there in person. Everyone should know that these were young girls that were put in an environment that they were not used to in their everyday life.
@KPopwithKhadija4 ай бұрын
Honestlyyyyyyy. We all need to watch reality shows and documentaries with a grain of salt, cuz there is a LOT of life lived that doesn't make it to the screen. And even the difficult or negative stuff is cherry picked and edited to make it "good tv." Always assume there's more to the story than we see!! Thanks for sharing this reminder! 💚

i felt the same way with manon during the show. she had SOMETHING powerful and special about her but it wasn’t coming out. she has so impressed me during katseye’s development. i would even venture to say that she’s my bias.

Honestly, I am beyond impressed with her. From Dream Academy to their 'Touch' MV, I was already amazed by how much she's improved... but now seeing where she STARTED? Incredible!!!! The star quality is there, but it's the hard work that makes her right for this group!
@charismaticshere24054 ай бұрын
I came into watching Pop Star Academy not knowing anything prior whatsoever about Katseye. I just knew that this was a similar process to Twice which is a group I really like so I gave this a chance. And I have fallen into absolute love and fascination with them. It has been so interesting watching peoples reactions after the show and seeing perspectives of people that knew who eventually got into the group and had some familiarity with it before hand. Particularly because the documentary showed aspects and clips of the fandom the way the girls dealt with all of their feelings , positive and negative, towards them. Which is not typically how you get introduced to the fandom of something you like typically. For instance seeing the way Manon and Lara were introduced into the show has so much more meaning seeing it through the eyes of fans that were anticipating when they were going to show up. It's just all so very interesting
@KPopwithKhadija4 ай бұрын
Yes, for sure! I didn't know much about KATSEYE, but I did know who was in the group, so watching this process feels really special seeing how they got there. Coincidentally, I'm also watching SIXTEEN right now and the process for TWICE feels very similar, since I know the group a lot better. But just witnessing the whole journey feels so much fun! Thanks for watching my video and sharing your thoughts here ! 💚

I've seen a lot of people say Hybe messed up releasing this so early but even disregarding the attention and support Katseye have gotten from big artist and influencers in this industry after the initial reaction from fans have calmed down, for me personally it just made me love the members more. I think kpop fans are so used to seeing such a polished and more conserved display of what goes on in the behind the scenes with kpop that for them seeing these teen girls who aren't nearly as trained or perfect and from much more individualistic backgrounds and their genuine reactions to these high stress situations was a bit much for them. I really do think there is an easy way to view this show with understanding for all sides in the end but a lot of people view stuff like this in a very black and white manner and because of that assume it's career damaging because their reaction to it isn't as level headed. I think it's good they got this out now though it's their truth and now all the girls can truly start their journeys.
@KPopwithKhadija4 ай бұрын
I keep seeing people commenting this, which I honestly find a bit weird. When people watch traditional survival shows, we see the good, the bad, the ugly, the stress, the challenges, and the triumphs. Yes, for the most part, they make the edits favourable to the final lineup of artists, but NOT ALWAYS. We see it all and most people are okay with the results and support the group after they debut. So why in this case should it be any different? Yes they already debuted, but I still want to see the reality of their journey to get there! I dunno, some k-pop fans have unrealistic expections, imo. 🤷🏾♀️
@luvrwrld53964 ай бұрын
@@KPopwithKhadija Yep, I think it's because for a lot of people they were introduced to the doc from "negative" clips taken from the show of some of the girls that you will see and this whole bullying topic was kind of ran with so some people went into the show with that information and viewing it in a really biased and narrow lens when in reality a lot of what happened was very understandable and normal for the circumstances. I watched later and remember going "that was it?" because it was completely blown out of proportion and a pretty expected conflict between young girls competing. I think some people are just assuming the worst because of their overreaction when really the doc has been really beneficial for the group and getting their name out there and making them feel more human to casual followers. It's calming down now and people are coming to their senses luckily but I also find acting like these girls shouldn't show their hardships that happened nearly 2-3 years ago weird, it's real and real is something I think kpop/pop artist lack sometimes.

I'm so glad you talked about Naisha being eliminated in a positive way , people are saying that missy or the other management staffs are racist and that they wanted the black girl out , acting as if they did not bring lara , manon , samara who are also dark skinned . Like you literally posted stuff related to the project online and you singed a contract to not do such things , yet you still did it and then lied , like hello , what did you expect was gonna happen ?
@lawtraf80084 ай бұрын
They Missy and her sister were not the one deciding who was joining, they weren't casting directors. They had no say. Plus I have seen people accusing Missy and her sister of being kind of racist, no other staff/trainer. I personally don't know if they were being racist or not but they definitely had biases and it was none of the Black girls. So happy the Hybe staff were there because they were the ones actually with a brain and not bias who knew who should be in the group. Without them Manon wouldn't have made it. It's clear she was the one they wanted in the group at any cost and were not going to let the American staff to get their way with her. Then I also was very happy to see Naisha get kicked out. This is the same girl who posted shady comment when Manon debuted so she got what she deserved. The fact that she got the boot before the survival show and then the other hater Adela was the first boot just proves that God is Great. They both got the fate they deserved. Crazy that even after they got sent home, they still had Manon's name on their mouths, just so obsessed and delusional.

I wouldn't say those girls are dark skinned cause there very much was no real dark skin representation at all but yeah, they definitely did jave brown girls included
@Jeezthatbitchsexy4 ай бұрын
Ezrela is dark skinned also
@Caspian_Xx4 ай бұрын
@@katshik2282 by that logic even Naisa isn't dark skinned cause samara was even darker who was almost guaranteed to debut , it's not a competition of who's darker but the fact that some people are people of color because of their origin not how dark they are , a black person can be lighter than manon but she's still black , her ancestors went through just as much as the ancestors of people who are even darker . But not taking accountability for you actions and then lying and blaming others and calling them racist isn't the right thing to do . "I wouldn't say those girls are dark skinned cause there very much was no real dark skin representation at all" , by dark skinned , people usually means racial minorities who are on the darker side of the skin tone , manon is still a representation for other black girls even though she's a lighter black person and lara is pretty dark for a south Indian . Dark skin representation doesn't mean charcoal black skin you know .
@mirza29754 ай бұрын
@@Caspian_Xx i think the language of darkskin just has a different connotation when regarding black people, specifically between lighter skinned black people and darker skinned black people. An easy example would be taking someone like Beyonce and someone like Anok Yai. In referencing both black women, Beyonce would be lightskin while Anok is darkskin. Other races/ethnic groups typically describe skin tone and shade in a less categorical way and instead use a sliding scale from light to dark. Moreover, that's probably where the other person is coming from saying there was no real dark skin representation because while the girls you mentioned are darker than the average trainee in these types of shows, within their own ethnic groups, they are relatively fair
@franyelisbrujan1244 ай бұрын
I was really sad that she had to leave that way. I understand the decision but I was a little disappointed because her charisma and talent are definitely undeniable. Also, I would've liked her to get to the group as a rapper, since that was shown on her application, along with her Hip Hop/breakdance capabilities. That would've been an interesting layer to the group.
@KPopwithKhadija4 ай бұрын
YESSSS. Honestly, I feel like she could have been someone to keep developing and training, IF she showed that ability to take direction and improve, and that would have added a really interesting quality to the group. But, the overall concept of KATSEYE is something very different from her style, so who knows if the company wanted that vibe or if they already knew from the beginning that she wouldn't be a great fit (as she currently executes).

I think they very intentionally put this doc out NOW, once the group has been selected. I like that they structured this differently from most survival shows, cuz audiences were voting based on the missions, not the drama or personality contest or bad edits or whatever. And, hopefully, now these other girls will get new opportunities from this major platform!! I really hope so, cuz they're talented af.
@joeaaron14 ай бұрын
@@KPopwithKhadija i dont think the vote for the mission cause some of them were "weak" and got high, and was kinda the Olympic because of the countries, also in the documentary, In the next episodes, some of them were pointed out, that the one with most vote were in a mission group together, so they knew they are gonna to lose in fan vote, that was unfair or like, or for me some of them had more screen Time or line in some perfomances so we couldn't see their talent that much! I know what u mean but what i mean its that this documentary made us know more their talent and personalities!

You could end your career real fast for breaking social media rules... obviously a lot of young trainees that are lacking in real life experiences might assume that it might not be a big deal, but Naisha was actually lucky that they let her off that easy.
