As an ex-BBC TV producer and journalist, I have lived and worked in 17 countries and Dubai police really are amongst the best there are. They are very professional in my opinion and they are very fair in the way the handle people. Sadly I do have one gripe which sad to say will always stick with me. I had a disabled wheelchair bound friend visiting and he carries an International disabled notice (which includes Arabic) to use in a car. We went to MOE and with little spaces available we parked in the disabled spot and displayed the notice, I got his wheelchair out and helped him from the car and we did the tourism thing in MOE. I got a hefty fine and my car was impounded . The security people said the policeman never got out of the car to look at any notice. I always see Porsches and Range Rovers parked in disabled parking and I see apparently healthy young men and women get out of the cars and walk away. Do they ever have their Porsche impounded I wonder. This is an event that will stick with me.

As I have been living here for the past 23 years, I can definitely say this: like all countries, uae has a little bit of corruption in the police, 98% of them are super awesome and kind and caring, but the 2% are what residents here call fine hungry, basically they will seek every opportunity to fine anyone and everyone except rich people. Henceforth I am a little nervous putting this comment out.
@ZycroRevitalized3 жыл бұрын

In my area, red light cameras were deemed unconstitutional because the owner of the cars were being charged with running a red light when it wasn't always the owners driving. I'm not sure if the state fixed that or not.
@DozIT7 жыл бұрын
AllAmericanGuy01 here in Ontario, Canada we (owner of vehicle) get a $350 fine and NO demerit points for that reason. You can chose to fight in court but you are legally required to identify the driver in court, which opens room for the ~$600 fine and demerit points.
@fuckgoogleforever6 жыл бұрын
ReadyToGo That's also protected under our constitutional rights, they can't force us to identify somebody. I'm assuming you live in Pennsylvania? We have the same issue, so far the best conclusion was they post a sign stating that the red light camera will take your picture if you run it.
@zemzem83236 жыл бұрын
AllAmericanGuy01 - here in NJ they deemed all red light cameras unsafe and all have been deactivated. There have been less accidents at the intersections where people used to slam on their brakes to prevent a red light ticket in the mail.

Nope. Same in MO all redlight cameras were required to be taken down.... Mainly because the judge ruled them as an unnecessary reason to increase revenue and it violates our rights..... I think most people get a traffic fine not because they want to over speed but because they did not notice change if speed limit. It is for these people who genuinely want to avoid fines but just get caught who are the worst affected. Police need to have better method to denote change of speed. Just a couple of sign boards does not help. Change of speed needs to be mentioned on the road with coloured pattern so that everyone notices it. This is easy to prove as most people get a fine when the speed limit changes. So we need to address this issue. Also the fine for most people is almost like one third their months salary which can bring financial ruin. May be making it income specific can help.

You have to be a fool to steal somebodys house or money if you know the law then just follow it FYI no one dares to steal in Saudia arabia because they will cut your hands off it may seem barbaric but its working like a charm and there are places that where you can leave your shop opened and nobody try and steal from it
