I can't belive that I found such a nice video Earlier I was searching a lot on youtube that why dispersion happens in prism and not in glass slabs . I watched a varities of videos but none of them could make me undetstand as this single video made me understand the whole concept . The key was that light was a collection of many rays so thats why it appears white

I would explain "why emerging light is white instead of color spectrum?" differently. Since the placement of 2nd prism is in opposite direction to the 1st, now red light travels longer distance and violet light travels shorter distance which contradicts to what 1st prism did and this nullified the spectrum effects caused by 1st prism giving back the white light. Those who are convinced by this explanation, please hit like button.

This video is the best to clear the theory of colours of Sir Isaac Newton.....!

But does not a rainbow show a continuous spectrum and not just a series of discrete colour bands? It is our optical perception that gives us images of the recognisable colours.

Very nice and useful video and illustration. I was trying to find a suitable video for my son to recreate for his year 3 school science fair. I found this particular video immensely useful. Thank you very much.

Another great video! But sir, I wanted to point out that you have forgotten to include the "Formation of rainbows(&how far are they)" in the playlist.

Suggest reading Opticks by Newton. His descriptions of his experiments are quite easy to follow (and replicate) -- no conjecture is required regarding his thought process.

Mahesh sir what if the 2prisms are placed at a gap as in ncert text book will again the rays emerge parallel to each other

@@KhanAcademyIndiaEnglish sir what about refraction..will they not refract towards the normal as it move to glass through air?
@tashadurrahman2 жыл бұрын
I don't really think the rays will emerge as a parallel beam.. because when going through the gap, the different colours will get separated due to refraction... In short, there will be just a little separation of the spectrum

@CastyourCuriosity9 ай бұрын
Black colour light don't exist in nature. Everything you see in black is actually absorbing light thrown to it making us a perception that object is black.
