My practical intelligence is genius level. To get that bookcase up the stairs, all you have to do is get some help and scream PIVOT PIVOT PIVOT over and over until it works.

I would not consider analytical intelligence to be associated with academics, unless you're talking about high end university research type academics. Most of school seems to stress one's ability to memorize.

Nope.

It depends on the class in my opinion. Classes such as organic chemistry require analytical intelligence

@@katna1799 not much though. In my individual case verbal intelligence was perfectly correlated with every subject (.82-.98) including mathematics (especially mathematics) and fluid intelligence was only moderately correlated with every subject with a slight tilt towards mathematics/STEM areas (.66-.81). Class ranking (GPA) was also more correlated with verbal intelligence (.44) than fluid intelligence (.36). Also fluid intelligence was only moderately correlated with my SAT score (.74) and almost perfectly correlated with my verbal intelligence/verbal reasoning (.91). There are relationships but in academics verbal intelligence and knowing things and working memory is more useful. With verbal intelligence you can plan ahead of time and prepare yourself for the future, while someone with only fluid intelligence rely on their immediate spur of the moment solutions to problems. But this is just my individual experience using official tests administered by my psychologist (we talked a lot 1 on 1 about IQ). So yes "analytical intelligence" is less useful in academics than verbal intelligence even verbal IQ is more useful in mathematics than fluid IQ/analytical intelligence. The only scenario where fluid intelligence may be useful in academics is if the fluid IQ is in the extremes/4 standard deviations from the mean. While people with high analytical intelligence tend to do well in STEM classes, people with high verbal intelligence are more likely to do better if they have the same level of IQ. It's honestly not much of a shock that academics calls for people with books smarts as apposed to "creativity" as people with higher fluid IQ may end up having a fixed mindset if they cant figure something out while someone with high verbal IQ maintains a growth mindset and perseveres through ambiguity even without understanding of the subject.

I dont understand the statement, "you might be better relative to yourself...but relative to other people you probably have the same skills in both areas." Is that saying that if someone has better verbal skills than I do hey'll automatically be better at math? That seems like a bold claim to make?
@ryancornell16378 жыл бұрын
What you're saying is essentially correct. If you compare your scores in one subject area (i.e. writing) to another area of study (i.e. maths), you might have some variation in your scores, but one can be fairly reliably predicted knowing only one score. For example, if you score high in writing (95%), I can probably deduce from that score that you also score fairly high in most subjects. Most people don't have huge variations in their grades with respect to analytical skills.

Anya, you shouldn't consider an IQ test as something that ultimately determines person's results in tests or how successful person will be in future... Don't forget about personal attitude- even though your friend has higher IQ score, she might be lazy or passive. Or she was not keen on preparing to math test,because she was partying, or had some troubles going on in her life. Test results might not be linked with IQ results due to environmental circumstances...

ok so what is the term to describe someone who scores very high on an IQ score, and is smart enough to make a Two foot tall infinity gauntlet out of Legos in three and a half hours. But is still enough of a dumbass to accidentally call an air strike on myself In Apex Legends? 🤣🤣🤣
