My friend has drawn a beautiful conclusion of this song- The girl depicts nature, who is shown in the form of a frustrated girl who is oppressed by the society and is forced to meet the social standards, and then she takes the form of kaali and she is enraged... And now her frustration is leading to the destruction of the world...While she is close to mother earth, only factories and skyscrapers are the ones which are getting destroyed... She is just running free, not caring at all, leaving her foot prints behind, for the world to see...❤️❤️

I grew up Muslim (I’m agnostic), but as an Indian, I like to embrace all of my identity and all the people that came before me, after all I exist because of them. Words can’t describe how I felt watching this video. It’s so beautiful and powerful. I have a very complicated relationship with religions. I believe there three kinds of religions: one, that is used to assert dominance, control, and power. the other, that you have practice according to the rules even if you don’t believe or agree with all them. and the last religion, the purest of all, is your own belief.
@jam-ss2jc2 жыл бұрын
I too have very complicated relationship with religion I am obsessed with the beautiful dance forms ( bharatnatyam, kathak, etc) and songs and art (especially Koodiyattam) which are mostly dedicated to Gods and epics. However, I don't necessarily believe those epics or Gods are final. Even following (blindly) 1500 years old or 2500 year old books is something which I don't consider is the right path. Separating religion and culture is difficult in our India. Yes, that third type is the purest of all. Learning, re-evaluating and forming your opinion and beliefs.

I'm Japanese and I didn't know the language of the lyrics, but I cried. I felt that the "cry of the heart as a human being" sung from a strong feeling is transmitted regardless of country or culture. The "common sense" created by social, religious, and cultural values must be inherited and one that needs to change with the times. There are still many values in people's hearts around the world that should not be left behind just because they have been inherited. I feel that the common "cry as a human being", which occurs in different places and situations, clarifies the need to change the values that have not been deeply discussed in human society. a person who wants to scream in the same way in my own country (sorry,that directly translated.)

'Closer' is the story of one young brown woman - Maya- who breaks out of the life expected of her. She doesn’t measure up to what a good South Asian woman should be: she’s not light enough or straight enough hair. Trapped in a sheltered life, she dreams of (or foreshadows) more. The cyclic nature of the opening scene is reminiscent not only of the repetitive nature of her daily life but also of samsara, the larger cycle of birth and death without enlightenment. Within Maya, as in all of us, there is latent energy, which we see in her eyes, as she imagines an unbridled life outside. We play with the infinite aspect of this power, conceived as galaxies and the cosmos, as well as the negative/destructive aspect of this power, conceived as fire. The two are ultimately related, as stars and galaxies follow their own path of life and death through the explosion. Maya is prepared for subjugation and indoctrination with other women through the ceremony. Their eyes go black as they take the pill because their internal energy is drained and they shed their uniqueness and relegate themselves to conforming to the rules. Maya’s body rejects it and instead, she shows her true nature, as a form of Kali. She’s infinite and deadly in the same breath: the ceremony bursts into flames. Maya escapes outside; she feels the sun she dreamed of on her skin. She takes on her full form - both destructive and creative, raw and untamed. She’s the embodiment of pure nature and the mother in all of her power. She roams the world only to discover that more racism, colorism, bigotry, and greed, propped up by powerful forces that are ultimately rooted in egos, have led to inescapable divides. She rages at all of us who are complicit. On the surface, she seems wild and raw, but that’s only partly true. Kali brings the death of ego, the illusory self-centered view of reality, that has created our superficial and destructive world divides. As Maya (as Kali) sets these oppressive systems and our collective egos alight, the sky turns from yellow to orange. The cycle of death is natural but she feels empathy for the destruction. Maya turns away from the constructed world to that of the natural world, in cooling green tones, representing stabilisation of the mind. It’s in nature where things refresh, recycle and restart. Her last act is to quell her own fire and release her own attachment/ego. True to the cyclical nature of samsara, she ends up in the same position she started. Again.

I don't remember when was the last time I came along such a beautiful concept. I really felt that this video depicts the condition of racism and atrocities against woman, all in one frame. She's not allowed to go out freely on her own, compared to evil when they live on their own terms, her dark tone is hated by others, her feelings aren't respected, everything they are going through in this world. It truly shows the hypocritic mentality of our society. But I also like the concept of spark hidden inside her, which can change entire city, or nation, or even world...Just lovely, but sadly at a huge price. Kudos to you @Khanvict

*@Sreeparvathy.S 10 C* If the lead wómén's character depicted as mother nature then the video is little bit understandable. But if she depicted as Goddess *Kaali Maa,* it is totally wrong as Kali embodies the boundless and existential freedom to be-without seeking permission. Embodiment of destruction , and the ultimate protector against evil, so this mare video can not render her at all. I think we do not need creative videos to visualize our culture and religion, 100 and 1000 of our religious books are for that, and i am saying that it is, after all , a depiction through Sanatan religion but not others.
@Ent2773 жыл бұрын
@@jaydutta7711 Why do you use the term second largest religion community instead of Islam? If it is a conversation you wish to have, be direct. Personal opinion and I can have one no matter what my religion is: Every cluture has good and bad in it. In art, often people show pain, and because it is pain depicted here you're going to see the negative practices in our culture be it Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian basically South Asian culture. Instead of being upset that oppressors bring negativity into our culture,, we are upset that somebody is 'pointing' at that. The girl is only reminiscent of Maa Kali/Kannaki 'after' she broke loose from her oppressors, she depicts triumph! And Maa Kaali is a very good example of triumph over oppression. The girl wants to be herself so she drops the clothing the society forced on her and reduced down to her true nature, is why she is wearing less clothes, so that she is close to nature, cuz we are naturally born with skin not clothes ( one reason why hinduism have murals with naked bodies) Although I agree that they could have been considerate towards religious sentiments when it came to clothes in the end. They were inconsiderate ,yes. it is not intended to be insult. They valued their message and creativity over a community's feelings that is, if it is Maa Kali that they intended to show here. Another user pointed out that it could be Kannaki too. PS: I don't belive in Islam. I find a huge part of the muslim community's practices to be oppressive.

She is both the start and the end. She transcended her ego. She broke the norms of society, she burnt the society because what she experienced was worth burning. The racism, the chauvinism, the sexism...for she might appear fierce or even wrong but she is right. She is destructive only to set herself and the world free. Omg Goosebumps. I feel that this depicts the awakening of the Divine Feminine...it is the restlessness in all of us...we are screaming for change, for a way back to purity of nature. She is a form of the Divine Mother that destroys what is wrong with this world...she is a protector. Mother Kali...think of a mother protecting her family and going on a rampage if anyone were to cause her loved ones harm. The white paint and clothing shows death and sacrifice....and giving up one's identity for society. Her eyes changing is showing the transition from a human being to a powerful Goddess. The picture of her family burning is showing the transitory nature of a human. She breaks free of the bondage of her human form and finally shows who she truly is...Kali. She is terrifying to behold, she is beautiful, powerful and yet deeply loving. That is why the mother shields her child's eyes from the Dark Mother. When Her work is done...she lays down to sleep and transits this world. It is the mirror of the beginning when she is this restless girl lying on the sofa...the Goddess starting to awaken in her. I Loved the video and the song so much and the actress is beautiful.

I have debated whether or not to share this.. I'm a Kenyan woman and a few weeks before I saw this I had the second weirdest dream in NY life with similar scenes and yes black Indian women plus one old african friend of mine. We were in some sort of temple and there was an altar where a lady would lie down and the rest surrounded her swaying left to right. One on the altar was vibrating way too fast and my old friend told me not to go in but I was so curious and as much as it was a dream I had a choice and I got in and she dissapeared in the outside crowd. I was more interested in what was happening in the temple on the altar but I woke up and I fucking wish y'all would see it... Then I saw this and I couldn't help it tears just came out my eyes and I felt so many feelings I couldn't explain...Thank you for your art and lots of love from Kenya 😊

@Shashi Kant Just bcz someone is Hindu doesn't mean they won't do anything anti-hindu. The maker is a Pakistani origin Canadian. What's so great about this ? Since you are so sure about the meaning why don't you explain it?

@Shashi Kant Abe "gáandu" tu kaunsi facts check karne ki baat kar raha hai ☪️ hútye? Tujhe kya laga main bina facts check kiye yeh sab bol raha hu? Sale 😠😠😠 Main koi *Andh-bhakt* nehi hu teri tarha jo har baat par religion le aata hai... Main religion apna private he rakhta hu, main religion ke bade mein zyada baat bhi nehi karta... Lekin iss video ne mujhe comment karne ki liye mazbur kar diya. Tere jaise logon ki wajah se India abhi tak fully developed nehi ho paya, aur "developing country" banke reh gaya. 🤦🏻♂️ 😑😑😑 Protraying *Maa Kaali* as "núde" is a seriou crime and totally WRONG. She (Kali) was wearing Tiger skin and Garland of hands of villains on her waist. And her upper chest all covered by open hair and Garland of heads . So not without clothes like said nowadays to insult Hindus.
@jaydutta77113 жыл бұрын
@Shashi Kant They literally insúlted our Máa Kaali by showing *black magic* been done on her... And just look at her ridiculous costumes, which is completely against the choice and módesty of the Goddess Maha kaali who was formed to destroy the EVIL, not to show any légs and skin irrelevantly & inappropriately as the lády in this video.... Maa Kaali is blaçk skinned by her own will, she is not sad for her skin colour as this lády. 😷
@jaydutta77113 жыл бұрын
@Shashi Kant LoL You should feel pity on your páthetic IQ level, because I never said she is playing the role of Maha Kaali. I said how they portray her & her anger by referring that with Maa Kaali is totally WRONG because the *"bikini girl"* with maa kali postures is very bad to display in such a way, it's really hurts me but no other thing is seems to me inappropriate in this video..video makers should have to be keep in mind when they shoot such a sensitive scenes which hurts someone's feeling..i think, what is the need to display such a scenes...if you wanna portray a girl with a goddess then simply show it na without any unnecessary things. Got it? 😑
