For me the music of vatican shadow has a very strong expression and is pure art. I'm german and i can't explain it good enough in english. My interpretation, or what i feel with his music that is thematicly in the military/politics, is the senseless, brutal and in general sad aspect of war. It is like a silent protest or a silent judgement with the military operations, the destruction and the death of people. It always has a rough, hard, but sad character with a kind of hopelessness. I really feel this sadness of war in his music. Is it the meaning of all this? Is he for or against all this? For me vatican shadow is a great artist of the new industrial era, after pioneers like Throbbing Gristle or SPK.

This is a great question, is he for or against all this. As he is American I always interpreted it as a protest against the Western worlds industrial military complex. I agree I think its some of the greatest industrial / techno and art made in general the aesthetic is just incredible and totally genius. The work leaves the listener with a lot of questions... and I love this

@@Ben-sy3hf Thanks for your answer! I saw the Video of the Prurient concert in Moscow 2019. I never expected that this genre of noise music really can blow my mind. It is one of the most difficult styles of music that is a real challenge to listen. But this concert touched me, it was brilliant. A very interesting experience. This guy deserves so much more Attention. Greetings from germany, PEACE for all nations....

@@Ben-sy3hfyeah I think it’s definitely meant to be a protest against the military industrial complex, I don’t think he is for all this

I think Vatican Shadow is a music equivalent of works like Apocalypse Now, Heart of Darkness, or Far Cry 2, wrapped in a modern, cold, industrial shell that reflects the constant march of war for profit. To me, it's a modern echo of the old catholic crusades. The name "Vatican Shadow" is kind of a nod towards the church approving of those crusades back in the day. But it's not just that. To me, tracks like "Weapons Inspection" capture how regular soldiers prepare for combat engagement, anxious and nervous while keeping it cool on the outside, reflecting on their actions, past and future ones, while checking their firearms.

I feel the sadness of homeless in his music. Sure enough, that was the driving force behind Frozen Niagara Falls, as per the liner notes.

God bless this man. Hospital Records have released some of the most interesting and engaging music I’ve ever heard in my life. He took the shit Coil/TG and many others were doing and really just improved it 100% while also maintaining his own individual integrity, especially with his own music specifically

dominick, you will probably never read this, but seeing you play a live set that one night in israel a year or so before covid,, in that backroom with the red lights, is something i am never, ever goning to forget. i have been waiting anxiously for you to start and have made it my life's mission to stand as close as possible to the "action" lol. it was me and my ex bf there that night; he was 23, i was 28. he liked raves, and festivals, and mdma. i liked vatican shadow! and so of course he had to stand right next to me the entire hour or so and suffer while pretending to not suffer. We lingered for a couple more years, but eventually i has to learn the harshest way, you do not date a boy 5 years your junior. that's it, that's my story ❤ please never stop creating
