The sasuma and bahu here clearly has a mother daughter bond (doesn't really happen in real life tho😂) and the sasuma wants her to be happy and doesn't want her to compromise her happiness. Can't you see the amount of regret the bahu feels just because of what? Finding love? This is the level of pressure in our society. Can you imagine? Someone is afraid of something as natural as falling in love. Just because she is widow. And what's the guarantee that after she marries again she will cut ties with the sasuma or that she will not take care of her anymore? Do women not take care of their own parents after getting married? Do they forget the existence of their parents? Normally all women in this kind of situation (in developing countries) choose to sacrifice their happiness to take care of others (in laws i mean) and normally the in laws asks the bahu to compromise everything because she is a widow or just insults the shit out of her. Nobody wants a widow to have a happy life right? Its not SELFISH to find love. And she even says that confronted her feelings on that day only. She was literally ignoring her own feelings and may have even thought of burying them just like all indian widows do. And she didn't have an "affair". She's a human being and its normal to have feelings for someone. She didn't even do anything immoral. I don't know if you are a man or a woman but i wish you change your thinking. Society is made of our mindset. If we change our own thinking then that will actually cause a big change in our society. And you know what infuriates me the most?When a wife dies...the society literally encourages the widoewer to find a new wife. This is just disgusting. We will remain "developing" and never become "developed" if thinking like this doesn't go away.
